the weapon is fine for pve, for pvp is kinda dumb

@@lucasnlima being entirely serious, the main issue with it in pvp is the AoW spam, they should decrease the damage, increase the fp cost, or both, but just enough so that it's still viable
@@zangor150 Increasing fp won't do much and it's power comes from bleed.
Personally I'd nerf bleeds percentage across everything. PVE and PVP. Both sides have to admit it's bs that a person/ enemy you must learn to best or have experienced before being killed in 1 second doesn't teach you anything and is just cheap. For rivers specifically I would make it drain a percentage of health per ash of war. In game it may be a upgraded double slash but in reality it's a upgraded bloody slash and it should punish you just like it. Why percentage and health? Other then the obvious better bloody slash, fp is easier to recover without a con because there's work arounds. Fp bares can become ridiculous (We all have fought atleast one 99 mind bloodhound step user) and nearly full in one swing of blue juice or a shard for temporary repeated use. Health puts a risk and we all seen bloody slash users down themselves because they lack attention to detail. As for the Health damage percentage I'm not sure. I think the ash should start at 10% Health drain. As for the bleed nerf I have no idea what percentage if even a percentage would be good.
@@ChangedCauseYT-HateFoxNames This change makes zero sense for PVE. The idea of the over the top AOWs in the game is to feed a sort of power fantasy. Your change katers more towards lowering the power for PVP while, from my POV, ruining it for PVE. This type of change would never pass as Elden Ring is PVE first and PVP second
@@lucasnlima I think this is not possible. PVP does not have its own dedicated server, thus, separate changes are not possible. If I am correct, I am no tech expert this is opinion and speculation, than changes need to be for the full game. This is the issue the PVP community faces because Elden Ring is PVE first and PVP second. So changes have to take into account the PVE audience.
What actually bugs me the most about this weapon is that it feels like they got their names mixed up. "Corpse Piler" is a much better name for a sword, and "Rivers of Blood" is such a succinct description of its Ash of War specifically.
yeah for the longest time when people were talking about the weapon I thought they were talking about the ash of war, when I finally got the weapon I was like, "Oh thats the actual name..."
Because people weren't saying "corpse Piler", the thing I did when I used it was I put on a bleed Nagakiba with it, and Bloodhound Step, for defeating Malenia. I didn't know they were talking about Corpse Piler.

The weapon itself is very overused, but it was refreshing to see a player not just spamming ash of war. Also, it is very rare to see a skilled Souls veteran player not being elitist about the game and not discriminate weapons. Overall, this youtuber just constantly emits positive energy to the community. I really appreciate that.

yeah u got a point on that one tho.. i have 0 problem to get invaded or duel against ROB but surely the range is > 70% people in pvp. its a typical easy to learn, hard to master weapon no matter you invade or get invaded by.

This would make sense as a joke if sorcery spamming (and moonveil) wasn’t held in similar regard by the community. Replace sorcery with dex, incantations, strength or some weapon class, and you have yourself a functioning instance of this joke template

It'd be fine if they just reduced the range and added self damage. It's definitely overpowered, but not broken like the community claims.
This has been my thought the entire time. How is blood slash going to cost hp, but have a longer cast time, less raw damage, and no blood build up? It just makes no sense. Definitely think if they mad Corpse poker cost health and have less range it would be balanced. Still very good, just require some skill and thought

@@bartbliek469 That's exactly correct. Madness is general is very strong on its own but you can't spam it unless you're willing to deal with your own madness build up. However RoB / Corpse Piler doesn't have any downside whatsoever other than spending some FP.
@@matthewm7590 hell even blood slash is more fun to use because it has like, a cost and not a guarantee chance of hitting but is strong as hell, RoB is like two upgrades over that for no reason
Everyday, I get off of work sweaty and tired and I let my dogs out and sit on the back porch and smoke a cigarette and watch the new weapon showcase and it's the first time of my day I can actually relax. Keep em coming Chase, I love it.

Unpopular opinion
I don't think it's underrated. I come up against a Rivers of Blood user in about 50% or more of my invasions. (By at least 1 user when I go into a multi-person invasion.) It's used quite often. I'm not belittling your comment. I understand what you mean, as in PvE use, it's amazing. PvP too, though.
I'm really glad Chase is shedding light on this hidden gem!

P.S. I'd love to see all the OP weapons done in the showcase before they are nerfed. It's just way too entertaining seeing one of if not the best Souls PVPer using such weapons.

I find it very interesting that not a single one of the duellists, somehow, had a shield. Golden Parry used to be a very popular ash of war, but somehow it's completely absent here
@Sam Except, it doesn't really work that way. Parries shouldn't be thought of as a source of danage but a way to attack and defend at the same time. They not only block damage to you, they deal damage to the opponent too. The only reason Golden Parry was prevalent at all is because of ashes of war like Corpse Piler. It was the primary counter for the longest time. I was interested to see how a skilled rivers of blood user would handle one as so far, everything I've seen (and done, with Golden Parry) points to ROB getting dumpstered.
@@Count.Saruman you just need to resort to jump attacks, bait out a parry and then L2 in their recovery. golden parry isn't bad against RoB, but it's definitely not a "I win button", as a half decent player will easily adjust to it.
if I had to guess, the reason why you felt it worked so very well against RoB is because 90% if RoB users are absolutely shit at PvP and are just carried by the ash of war spam, so when they are up against something that even mildy counters the L2 spam, they fold.
Parries are worth it still, if you have the 140 dagger, it will 1 shot 99% percent of the time

Hmm, yes, parry and perhaps remove half your opponents health, or miss and lose 90% of your from RoB + bleed. Risk and reward everyone!
I feel an “I’m sorry” should have been used at the end of every fight here instead of the Chase patented “fun fight”.

Still haven't consistently got the parry timing down on RoB myself yet, but it does feel good when I nail it and riposte with Heavy Misericorde + 25.
@@parrydogsickle I'll not deny, parrying a RoB feels great. But you have to be ready for a plan B when you come across someone who isn't blind and can see a shield. For that, the death pebble, giant hunt, or something that can punish roll-ins like storm stomp are all more reliable.

@@The.Brother.in.Christ that's not the point, other weapons aren't broken like the RoB, which the best and fastest way to deal with is just to parry, while other weapons you can much more easily beat by out playing them.
I like seeing all of these underused weapons. I hope we get the fingerprint shield next especially now that they fixed that ice spear glitch.
You should do the serpentbone katana, it’s two handed heavy attack is like the rivers of blood ash of war, and it comes with some poison buildup
and it's deadly poison, like fetid pots. also it's ash of war is literally corpse piler without the blood splatter. corpse piler is just edgy double slash

@@sturmmagnunstein1008 double slash and corpse piler share animations. it's the exact same motions made with the blade. double slash is the normal version and corpse piler is the rivers of blood specific version. not the first time from reused animations for multiple skills

golem's halberd would be really unique especially with the native ash of war (the only charge forth on colossal weapons)

Higher AR from arcane despite lower scaling makes sense, since the arcane scaling increases both fire and physical damage, so it's more like two D scalings.

Gotta say, I really want to see you use the Godslayer's Greatsword. The ash of war on it is super interesting because you can cancel the windup without costing FP, and its absolutely brutal if you can find a way to land it all (seriously, I used that ash of war to beat the FIRE GIANT). I've been using it for duels and its been really fun.
I did a test with this weapon not long ago. I summoned a duelist and used 1 Corpse Piler attack while far away from him and not facing him. Then we started the duel and I used every attack except for Corpse Piler but the guy was quick to change to Brass Shield+rapier and poked for the rest of the duel. I tried Corpse Piler once by the end of the fight to no avail since his shield stopped it easily. Then he won and pointed down because his skill was obviously extremely high and he had to rid the world of a monster like me. 10/10 will do it again.
I'd love to see a dagger next... After all it's a pretty underused weapon category.

Suggestion: Wing of Astel! It’s a very unique weapon and is easily my favorite for PvE. I wonder how well you could use its diverse moveset for mixups in PvP.
It could also be fun for dual wielding without being stupidly powerful, given the fact that it doesn’t proc any statuses.
You can even put on an incant that icreases fire damage since the river's of blood ACTUALLY does physical and fire damage

I do the same iconic moonviel with staff, but with arcane using rivers of blood. It's so funny when people get confused and you can really catch people off guard by switching from sword spells to corpse piler.

Hey dude, The attitude you bring in your youtube videos have influenced the way I approach this game and other games that I play competitively. I've been loving these showcases! I find it kind of difficult finding really cool weapons for myself. It feels like alot of weapons are so limited
I find myself using the regular weapons more than the somber ones, being able to switch up ashes of war or have duplicates with different skills to switch to is a good way to mix it up
Chase is one of the extremely few that's not currently coping, seething and breeding toxicity over PvP.

you can use one of the formless seals to cast BV to avoid being over encumbered, that way u can always have it equipped. You don't need to meet any of the actual requirements for it to work.
If your having trouble with stars of ruin in invasions there is a flask upgrade that heals you when your hit with non physical damage
