Arrrgggghhh! I was the guy who put that wallpaper on there! It was more fun putting it on than taking it off, I can see. Knowing what it took to hang the paper, you're smart to just paint it... Now just slog some Watco teak oil on the trim, sand with wet/dry paper and it will look brand spankin' new!
This is a great boat for your purposes. She will take you where you want to go safely and quickly for a boat of this size. You can easily cruise to the south Sound for a weekend and not burn too much fuel doing so. I know the cruising speed is listed at around 15 knots but you may find a fuel efficient sweet spot at a lower speed. The hull design is such that this boat can go slow or fast comfortably so the choice is yours. Enjoy it all you can!

Love it you two. I would LOVE to do this someday. Watching you work out there on the peninsula remind me when I used to work around there and the San Juans. If you guys are ever looking for work, my company has a large cyber security department and we have an office in Lynnwood. Send me a message if you're ever interested. Keep living the dream on that boat, looking forward to seeing it "finished"...never finished ;).

I grew up as a young boy into late teens on a 50 foot, Chris Craft Constellation, mahogany and teak decks. Everything needed refinishing inside and outside and the engines. I learned so much and then when it was ready I learned to Captain the boat. 20 tons, 20 feet tall with the bridge and a huge presence in the water. I loved everything about it. Watching you guys brings back all those moments. Thank you

Like a lot of us here are saying, you guys are living our dream!! As a teenager, I helped my dad refurbish a boat years ago so I know the joy in just refinishing a piece of wood trim! 🙂 The boat is looking great and, IMO, you guys are taking the right approach in not making everything perfect but making it look great and functional. I might add on suggestion is to make sure you get your cables and wires dressed up a bit and don't hesitate to replace them as needed. They will be more reliable and help prevent problems down the road. In general, anything having to do with mechanical or electrical systems is worth putting some money into. Great job! Keep it up!

Amazing work. Congrats to you both. Here's a random name suggestion for your boat (it might not work).... "PAL AND ROAM" because the big word "PALLINDROME" by definition (Webster's) is any word that's spelled exactly the same both forwards and backwards.......for example....HANNAH. I dunno, we just want to congratulate you both again, sir/ma'am. Thanks for sharing your experience and have a great day!

it awesome to see yall working on boat n living on boat
i never have live on boat at all i normal live in tiny house like bus or long vehicles
i just love watching anyone video that about boat or more to it
im engineers i could give you more information on boat if you want it
(you said want heater in boat) seen be easy run it on engine cooling like two small hose attached lower to upper just remove them two n run it to the radiators and fan n when you start engine up wait for it warm up it will flow hot water to radiator so fan suck in cold to radiator n heat air come out
i have done this twice on friends boat because he got tire of electric issues been on going in boat that cant handle 30 amp heater so i have helped him out so he was satisfied with design i build for him in his boat n he been long gone havent seen him in almost 4 or 6 years only words i hear from him say moving to Illinois that was all
only need two set of long hose n radiator n 12v fan or you could run 120v fan it upto you n radiator n smaller one be on honda car in 90s or taller one be in ranger 90s n few adapter n make sure engine have thermostat so that way u can run heater hose to it if doesnt them going have make adapter for it which take welder n few other
hope you two enjoying happy life on boat

Great video. It answered so many of my questions. I've done a similar project, but with a much newer boat in pretty decent condition. But I made everything on mine like new condition. Mine was a 44' pilothouse. Previously, I rented a boat (similar to yours) and sailed the San Juan Islands. Your area is the best place to own a small yacht on the west coast.

The 671's are good engines and have been known to go 20,000. Hrs without a rebuild but most get a rebuild around 12 to 15K. The turbos are not as durable as the natural but they are still good. The great thing about them is there are so many out in the world you can get parts , they are also 2 strokes witch is very rare in the diesel world. I rebuilt a 1979 tolly and my father in law had the 42 Uniflight from new. Its fun to watch you go through some of the things I went through with my Tolly. To really do some great cruising you will have to get the motors and gen set cleaned up and running well so you have fun on the water and not have mechanical problems when you go out. I think you said you are putting flooring down, just keep in mind that if you do carpet with a pad that has a high level of sound proofing your interior noise level will be much lower when cruising than hard flooring.

    • @SeekingSeas
      @SeekingSeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That's great to know about the engines. We are wanting to get the noise down as much as possible but have been little leary of carpeting. We'll figure something out, perhaps soundproofing in the engine room. Thank for the sound advice.

Great color! We had a 3607 Carver aft. cabin that has a similar look to yours. It's fun watching your DIY adventure.

Hi from the uk. I love watching your progress. I like the smooth paint better as well. I started watching ship happens on TH-cam and from there… have found all sorts of interesting boat channels :)

Hi Guys, I think it's so Great that you guys can do so much of the work yourselves. That's my biggest fear about buying a boat 🚢. Stay Safe ‼️ 🙂

It is challenging and we make mistakes, but worth it!

Keep up the great work. Just found your channel last night and will be following your dreams😎 I boat on Long Island and bought a 31’ trawler a few years back and have been working out the bugs for the past few years. But that’s boat life. Always something to do. Enjoy your time on the water as there is nothing else like it.

Very cool backgrounds. Congrats on you both. I see friends all the time on Whidbey, I can say they have a couple places you can take your boat, and either dock or take a small dingy and enjoy local cuisine and some decent people, Langly, Freeland. But there are very cool places to explore as I know you are both aware of in our Puget Sound. Wishing you both happy sailing and yachting!!

We ended up doing that in the aft head, and it came out great. We wish we would have done that everywhere else!

Name for your boat, could be anything other than
    “SecNav” ?😏
