Tutorial: How to Wire Through Firewall on 2019 Ford Explorer

In this tutorial video, we're showing how to wire through the firewall on a 2019 Ford Explorer. It is tricky to pass wires through the firewall on this particular vehicle. Watch the video to see where we drill our 3/4" hole to fill with our plastic panel grommet. We chose to use a star grommet with a thick outer edge to protect the wires within the hole.
From the inside of the vehicle and underneath the dashboard, you will remove a portion of the rubber and white mat underneath to expose the hole and metal behind it. There is a good amount of room in this particular spot to add a larger hole if needed.

I tried to drill the hole but then a black wire decided to pop through so I stopped. I also have a large piece of plastic in the interior side of the firewall. I have a 2016 explorer and everything looks the same.

The video is titled 2019 Explorer, I am not sure how a 2016 works. No they are not the same.
