Even if it might slow down the game, I appreciate the rules keeping yall safe. It's important, especially when you don't have a TV crew.
pretty sure those rule are there after the HAI crime spree, where the food and sleep did not happen :P
If anything, it makes the game more fun and challenging since they have to get creative with their strategies
Also without the night-at-hotel rule, it is hard to create the game theory issue they got, where both teams can either pursue their goal, or block the other team as their next move
It keeps them safe and it adds more suspense. It's a win-win.

Don't understand why they chose four shots of vodka... Either you go with four shots of gin because it drinks away more easily to someone not used to consuming lots of alcohol, or you go with four different shots (probably bourbon-rum-gin-tequila in an American bar) for the interest of the camera.

I love how Ben and Adam were more upset at the fact that Sam and Brian got the bowling challenge except for being upset at the fact that they have both California and Nevada claimed 💀💀
That's probably because by this point they already know Sam and Brian have California locked down, and so them getting Nevada was all but inevitable. As such, Ben and Adam already took this development into account for their next move, which was to block off their east route by claiming Arizona.
I LOVE seeing Brian and Sam acting out, it's damn hilarious seeing them be themselves instead of their "monitization" selves
I love the bit at 19:45 when Sam just starts belting off a whole-ass essay about wildfires. It's nice to see that he's still got that Wendover charm even without a script.
I‘m sure he memorizes parts of his scripts automatically just by having to improve drafts and read them into a mic often during the production process.

What’s Sam been in?
When it comes to states that don't have Chick-fil-A, only three states currently don't: Hawaii, Alaska, and Vermont. But Hawaii is set to get a few locations, which will bring the state total to two. So Alaska might make sense but why Vermont? Several reasons why Vermont doesn't have any. The state is too sparsely populated, it's the second least-populated state, Chick-fil-A is very selective with its franchise application process, but it also has to do with legal trouble. No, this isn't what you think it is.
Basically, a silkscreen artist named Robert Muller-Moore created the slogan "Eat More Kale" to promote Vermont's agriculture and produce. But when he went to trademark it, Chick-fil-A challenged it for being too similar to "Eat Mor Chikin". The battle lasted three years, but with the Vermont public and the governor supporting Moore, Moore ended up winning. It doesn't stop there though, because in 2016, Chick-fil-A released a kale salad dish...with maple vinaigrette. Maple is one of Vermont's major exports, so on top of the fact it's kale, it was seen by the state as a bitter jab towards them.

Crime spree slapped, I got nebula just to watch it.
So, I just started following this channel based on a tweet from Brian for the new season.
I live in Cheyenne and it's hilarious seeing Ben and Adam, 1. Not know what the Bison sign at the border is about (it's also a cell tower) 2. Get stuck at the 24th street railroad crossing. 3. Go to like the worst park (it looks like Mylar Park I think?) and viaduct for finding insects.
Outstanding content. This (beyond having a million other channels I follow) might be the reason I get nebula.
Cowboy State is one of the nicknames of Wyoming, but the state's official nickname is the Equality State. Why Equality State? It originates from 1869, when women were given the right to vote for the first time. Not on the national level (that happened in 1919 and ratified in 1920), but rather Wyoming was the first state to allow it. Becoming the leader of a huge shift, this prompted the legislature to adopt the nickname "Suffrage State" which then changed to "Equality State". It also prompted them to change the state's motto to "Equal rights"

Ben and Adam are such a great duo. What I would love to see is a close call on getting a state capital. Like for example Sam and Brian are trying to bowl a strike and then Adam and Ben get to that state and then complete a challenge and get it right out from under them.

I didn't realize I was in the minority who _don't_ regularly play Connect Four in the American West.
Honestly, if I was sam's team and saw that the opposing team took Wyoming and Colorado, I would've zipped to Montana instead of New Mexico. The CA and NV route seems a bit slow given their starting point. Picking a more centralized state, like Nevada but also Idaho honestly seems like the smarter play.
They didn't talk about it, but the southern route has the advantage of blocking Ben and Adam. If they didn't go Arizona Sam and Brian would win. As it stands they're just going to block each other, and Sam and Brian will be in a much better position to get a new route as Idaho is an option for both and getting that would force Ben and Adam to get 3 more states
Idaho Montana Nevada California would also work

@@CaptNSquared Right, Adam and Ben had a great strategy but it has the problem that, once they've got Colorado and Wyoming, the only vertical line is Montana/New Mexico. So if Sam and Brian can get there first Adam and Ben would have to redo their plan.
@@vigilantcosmicpenguin8721 It turns out that Arizona-Colorado-Wyoming-Montana also works because of a bend in the Colorado-Utah border just north of the Four Corners. Going to Arizona was an unexpectedly smart move, but Montana is still their weak spot.

Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36) if you believed in Messiah you would be following His commands as best as you could. If you are not a follower of Messiah I would highly recommend becoming one. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life - Revelation 3:20.
Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God.
Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc. Have a blessed day!

19:39 he is right, we have been fighting wildfires so intensely that there has been an accumulation of fuel in forests that would normally have burned. This makes fires burn hotter and harder to put out. If we let them burn when they don't threaten humans and our infrastructure they will get less and less intense over time
There is likely a poor management component, as you both noted, but Sam was also right that climate change is making conditions more ripe for large and destructive wildfires. And, development along the wildland/urban interface is putting more people in danger, as well. It's a multi-pronged problem that will require a multi-pronged solution
More money is thrown into fighting Wildfires, than preventing wildfires. It used to not be this way.
We did have a very robust preventive spending spree for a short time, and it actually worked. Wildfires were less intense, and were allowed to burn. There were less wildfires overall. This created a problem, that created another problem, that then sought a solution, that ended up being more band-aid. With the reduction of wildfires, government looked at the budget and went "why are we spending so much on prevention, when there hasn't been that many wildfires?" Which led to the reduction of prevention budget, which then saw increase in the number of wildfires. Instead of giving the prevention methods back their budget, they throw it at fighting the wildfires, and then proclaimed the prevention methods didn't work, and thus we shouldn't spend money on it.
The classic "Solve a problem so well, that people question what the problem was in the first place."

I'll be honest, I forgot that I had seen Sam on Tom Scott's Money show until maybe a week ago when I saw an old video where he mentioned it. And I didn't actually remember what he looked like! So seeing the trailer for this on Half As Interesting was like seeing his face for the first time and the second time all at once 😂

Fly to Des Moines, then rent a car to drive to Lincoln, Topeka, and Jeff City. It is 9 hours of driving, but gets you 4 states for the win with just the one flight.
Guessing that has to be against the rules somehow.
@@jasoncolella3571 yeah, there had to be another rule that stops that because otherwise there's a really obvious optimal route with CT, NY, RI, and any of: NY, ME, VT, or NH. Also DE, MD, NJ, CT or DE, PA, NJ, MD, &c... since they're all on the high volume Amtrak lines you could hit all the capitals for those in about 8 hours without trouble for about $600 on the Acela
I mean, once they had WY and CO they could have also gone for Lincoln and Des Moines, taking advantage of the imperfect surveying along the WY-CO border

@@fowlerj111 The colorado/Wyoming border is a straight horizontal line so Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa does not make a perfectly horizontal or vertical line. Ignoring that, just the drive from Denver to Des Moines is 10 hours. You pickup Lincoln on the way, but you still need to add a little time to hit Cheyenne. So not a valid solution and would take longer.
My guess is Adam and Ben get Arizona and Utah to win. Since the Arizona Colorado border isn't actually perfectly straight, AZ UT CO WY is a straight line
