I lost 8 kgs with in 38 days now 87kgs.. within these days I followed intermittent fasting with Low carb diet 16:8 also no rice, had salads mostly for lunch and idly at 7 pm and no snacking in between. Also weight training in the morning for 5 time a week. This is all started because of a day realisation I had when went to family outing. I was unable to play not even for 30min as I felt back pain eventhougt I am 25 yrs old. That hit me hard and during this 38 days I am more active and could feel having more energy, even with less consumption.
1) eat breakfast- not heavy ( also don't skip it ) 2) can have heavy lunch 3) very light dinner as early as possible ( skipping is the ideal case scenario )

Great concept clearly defined in layman's language. Identifying doctors who can explain about our body is a great gift. Thank you doctor. It's very much helpful to watch your videos and get awareness on the food we should eat and not to eat. My mother 70+ who cannot be corrected even by God is very much listening to your videos and correcting her eating pattern and suggesting us as well. God bless you doc🙏
Thank you Dheivame for showing us the insights on healthy weight loss.. U rocking as always.. Just want to mention, following ur videos, started time restricted feeding (9am-5pm) in Aug 2021 and ended in Dec2021.. I have lost 8kgs from 73 to 65 and i am 170cm height.. I am still continuing this as my lifestyle habit and my weight s steadily maintaining now.. A big thank you from the bottom of my heart..

Hey Dr. Pal. I've been watching your videos and find them really motivating to live healthy life. (21/01/24) I am currently 65.75 /66 kgs , 5'4 female And I want to lose around 15 kgs. I've been following intermittent fasting with eating period from 01pm to 06 pm. Drinking 2 - 2.5 litres a day. Walking for around 45 min. Let me come here every 15 days and update you guys. This will keep me motivated as well.
Here I am after 2 weeks of following intermittent fasting. Just checked my weight it is 63.75 kg that means in these 2 weeks I lost around 2.25 kgs. My eating period has slight changes everytime but I make sure that it end by 6 pm. So I was fasting for 18 hours and more and eating home cooked food (roti, chawal) in moderation with good enough of protein and water. I will update again in 2 weeks. HAPPY 😁
Dear Dr.Pal.i started intermittent fasting 2weeks before... initially i thought it's a horrible decision for me and it won't workout ..my height is 150cm ....once i started it came to normal and I am reduced from 65kgs to 62.5kg as of now with the help of intake of dinner before 7PM as well as 45mns to 1hr walking daily...really u r a 👁️ opener for me...keep rocking sir...
Greetings from Malaysia Dr. Pal. Found your humor injected hard truths about the ways we abuse our body through food very enlightening. I totally agree with your time restricted feeding idea. I follow a 16:8 eating window and try to have my last meal of the day by 5pm on most days. After hearing your detailed explanation, will definitely avoid taking diversions and stick to my restricted feeding time. Tq for inspiring others Dr. Pal . 👍🙏
Since I bumped into your videos i gradually changed my eating timelines. I wake up at 4:30 am, do yoga/workouts, cook and get everyone set for school/work and I eat my breakfast at 9:30/10 am. Then I eat a second complete meal at 4-4:30 pm. That’s my last meal of the day! 🙏🏾 I have lost about 2kgs in one month and two inches on my waistline. I have 3 more kgs and 2 more inches to loose! Thanks DrPal #loosebellywithdrpal
@@drraalaguraja1538 yes, on most days I do snack on fruits, nuts, or Sathumaavu kanji/overnight oats, around 1-2 pm. I haven’t been able to stick to two meals a day. The key is to plan what ur snack would be and pack it in the AM. Coz at 1/2 pm when ure hungry u tend to go for the sugariest or greasiest item in ur pantry.
Dr. Pal you are 💯%soooooouch much energetic and motivated person. Where do you get that kind of energy. Next video you must show a picture of Saravanakumar.
I lost 13 kgs in six months - the thing observed is the initial weight i.e. we will lose weight very quickly like 7-8 kgs but later weight plateau starts. So, I did OMAD and eventually it helped me to losing weight. But, losing weight from plateau is difficult.
I used to skip breakfast for almost a year, was happy with the 17kg weight loss. A year later I contracted COvid post that started witnessing acute hairfall, from 0 to at least 100. I think skipping breakfast eroded the body's store of nutrients
You must never skip break-fast as it is the most important meal of the day. Besides, the glycogen stores are also almost diminished. You may skip dinner though.
Red or hill banana is my go to breakfast after 1 hour of waking up. I’m an ardent follower of all your videos.Huge fan of your humor sir. I have completely changed my way of eating after watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.🙏🏻My gut blesses me and also you.
Thanks doctor for mentioning about Breakfast, because of time restricted feeding, I skipped my breakfast and take lunch at 12noon and dinner at 7pm , lost 6 kg in 4 months and I am within my normal weight range now, Looks like it is the time to start with light breakfast. FYI - strengthening exercise started already
OMG!! You are amazing and hilarious at the same time! I have been following circadian rhythm for my lifestyle and lost weight significantly and feel happy like never before!
Started my weight loss journey from 1st February. One week it was little difficult for not eating in the night after sunset. But now I got used to it. I have lost 0.5 kg in one week. Feeling happy. Thanks so much sir.
Seeing your video for the first time.....loved the way you explain and had a good hearty laugh along with healthy thoughts. Mind and manasu happy...... I wake up at 6 and have sattu mavu kanji by 7 30 and breakfast by 9 30.... It that ok... Expecting an answer....
Hi Doc Pal, you are a wonderful person. No praises will be excess. It's very difficult to motivate without cracking jokes to keep patient interest alive. Actually i spent my career as a medical rep. In my whole career, I've never seen such a jovial doctor character. Hats off. 🙏
Great way to keep your listeners glued to your vlogs ...otherwise it would just become too informative and monotonous like the other videos.Great sense of humor 🤣
Hello Dr. Pal I'm a very big fan of your talks and videos. The way you bring in humor in between the serious subjects....really liked it. I'm also in my journey of weightloss. Very inspired by your videos. I have my morning coffee after 30 minutes of my wake up time. 1 hour later I have my breakfast. As of now I'm managing 12 :12 hour eating and fasting window.
Very effective dr.pal , I am following your idea since a year ( very few day's exempted) , I feel light and reduced reasonably my tummy fat and I now feel easy to follow intermittent fasting. Thanks for the motivation. Early dinner if not possible Skipping dinner has become most easy thing.
I do intermittent fasting. 16 hours fasting. My brunch is at 12 and finish my dinner at 6pm. My body is under control now. So from evening 6 to next day 12 I don’t even bite a grain and drink anything except water. But you simple breakfast breaks the rules of intermittent fasting. I follow Dr.Berg’s videos and I am convinced his logical and scientific reasoning of long fasting. Hope you throw some light on this issue. And I thoroughly enjoyed your unconventional…funny…witty video.
Those researches work for foreigners.. we indians should follow our circadian rhythm ..nd we should take big meal between 8 to 10 am nd evening 5 pm acc to vagbat
Dr. Pal Thusi great ho. You're really making the people understand the importance of taking care of our body in a very humorous and practical way. Thanks to you Dr. We at home are following your instructions. My Yoga master used to say in kannada. Body and Gaadi ( vehicle) to be taken care off. Other wise any time they will shut down😊😊
You are the best doctor as you are able to actually make us understand the basics without using heavy terminology and most importantly with humour so it stays with us deep inside our mind ❤
You are simply amazing!! Recently started watching your videos and now hooked to them 👏! You have an amazing sense of Humor and a simple way to explain complicated stuff !!!!! Please keep the videos coming
Hi dr. Pal. I have my breakfast after 3-4 hours once I woke up. Sometimes I just have one lunch a day around 2-3pm. I don’t know whether that’s good or bad but I lost 5 kgs in 3 months which feels good. Thanks to you for educating me on intermittent fasting.
Hi Dr.Pal, Inspired by your TRF videos. I am starting my TRF from today. I have downloaded the IMF app. I wish to start with 14:10 window to begin with and my fasting cycle proposed to be like 8 pm to 10Am . I am also going to follow calorie deficit diet with carbs between 30 to 70 gms. I have prepared a workout schedule and walking of minimum 5000 steps a day. Currently I am 87 kgs and plan to reach 70 kgs on or before the new year 2023 with a target of minimum 1.5 to 2kg /month. I will definitely achieve it and please keep motivating people like us. You are doing a wonderful job. ( I am 49yrs young)
Thankyou doctor for all the earnest efforts on gut health awareness.. Good gut health ensures good thinking, positive thought processes, thinking patterns and better decision making ...and of course impacts temper too.. Doctor u asked us viewers to mention when is our first bite after wake up...Actually I am attentive to the bodys signals of hunger, thirst and accordingly I eat ..just as u said, we start with a light breakfast and good lumch and light dinner, snacking on seasonal fruits or a banana .. Also we take 2 cups of ginger tea,
I started IF back in September 2021 when I was diagnosed with all sorts of digestion problems and gall stones. Although a bit slow in losing weight but it has been consistent. Lost about 30 lbs and still going. I eat all the foods that I like but everything in limited quantities(no processed foods).Indirectly when I did this, I started feeling grateful towards the food more and I have felt thankful for all the people behind for doing so much hard work to get that food on my plate. I waste a lot less which has helped not only my health but also it is satisfactory to realise that by consuming right, someone else also gets the share. I stop eating by 6:30-7:00 p.m in the night and wake up at 6:30 a.m have my breakfast at 9:00-9:30 a.m. and honestly I don’t do a lot of exercise too, running around my toddler daughter + WFH and doing household jobs exhausts me out completely by the end of the day. Dr.Pal , you have inspired me to do the right thing and now all our neighbourhood get togethers for dinners are before 7:00.

I did Maths bcz I didn't have any interest in biology. Seems like I was wrong big time. With your interesting explanations, I have developed a huge interest in human body functions. You are doing a very noble work educating everyone. Thank you so much. I'm a vegetarian and doing IF. But had some queries as my weight was not reduced as expected. Watching your videos I figured where I did wrong. Thanks a lot Dr. Pal. You are a hero. I was lacking protein as I eat a vegetarian diet. I will adjust the meals as your advice. ❤🙏
U r a scientific Doc . Thanks Pal for explaining the Melatonin mechanism. YOU R ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. U r tamil conversation in between is very entertaining.
I've started a 21 day Intermittent fasting and Zero sugar diet. Today was my first day. My fasting window is between 8pm and 2pm the next day. Total 18 hours fasted state. I've included 2 litres of water, one buttermilk packet, and low carb, high fibre, high fat diet. I'm including nuts after lunch and dinner to help me keep full for longer
Dear Dr.Pal. I want to let you know that I have skipped breakfast totally for the past 10months. Heavy lunch and light dinner followed. I must tell you that I have not only shed off 23kgs of my weight going towards 58 from 85!!! Feel totally energetic and light all through the day. Other things apart, I wish that there could be more research about skipping breakfast being harmful. I can even be a specimen for the tests. Though I have not tested, I think skipping breakfast doesn't affect cardiovascular system is my gut feeling given how I feel now.
I’m so glad that you were able to lose 23 kg. This is awesome. Though few studies are negating The link, many studies are suggesting some kind of association. Hence, if we can keep the breakfast light, it might be the finer line.
@@DrPal sir breakfast means basically breaking your fast after a long fast.. So if I am breaking my fast at morning 11 or 12 then that's my breakfast.. Correct me if am wrong.. In my case I usually eat my 1st meal at 12 to 2 pm depending upon my work(1st mild foods like vegs and fruit and after half an hour have my big heavy meal). Then mild tea snacks ( not junk item) by 5pm and followed by mild to moderate dinner around 8 pm and I will sleep only aft 2 to 3 hrs aft my dinner. By this method I lost around 20kgs from 117 to 97 without gym. Also my cholesterol level decreases. Should I continue this??
@@themanfromnowhere6868 this is how I advise my patients- if it works for you, then there is no reason you should stop continuing what you are doing. Certainly the best option would be to stop eating after sunset as Dr. Pal says. I would advise to keep your dinner light. But in the end, what works for you matters the most. - Dr. Sri (Primary care and sports medicine doctor)
Hello Doctor, Thanks for this wonderful video. I have researched a lot on this topic, we Indians i.e. our forefathers don't have a habit of eating breakfast. I have checked with my ancestors, Travancore Kingdom( kitchen history) and also ancestors of farmer community friends. And they are healthy. Breakfast is the concept introduced by Britishers to Indians
Dr.Pal.. Thanks for the great video.. Intermittent fasting has helped me significantly.. I'm curious about how the circadian rhythm works in places where say sunrise is at 9am and sunset at 4pm.. That's how Vancouver is during winters.. Summers are like 5am sunrise and 8pm sunset..
Started to follow your principles on food after sun rise and food before sun set. Within a month with some elliptical exercise and walking reduced 4.5 kgs but now it is hard to reduce my weight still practicing and following all the tips.
Doctor your videos on intermittent fasting are amazing. Would be really happy if you could just suggest intermittent fasting meal plan ( South Indian) for a week which we can replicate. I am so confused about what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, when to eat fruit etc.
My husband does intermittent fasting for long time. have a Protein drink & next he’ll exercise for 1 hour with his trainer/ circuit training n weights. 12:10/30: Lunch. (fresh veggies- either salads or raw mixed veggies) 75% of his plate/ *black beans / rajma/ chickpeas most soup or curry form 2 eggs or no sugar yogurt Carbs: either potatoes/ sweet potatoes/steel cut oats/rice ( cooked a day before n store in fridge). No carb or less carb food/nothing fried at all or with no oil. He’ll work out for 5 days n go walking 1 hr on weekends.
Very informative and useful piece, Doctor.. My first meal is at 11.30am-12 (noon) after being up since 5.30am. Dinner is at 6.30pm-7pm latest and is the heaviest meal since it is a post workout meal.. Breakfast (rarely) is 3 hours after waking up and consists of a whey+3 banana+milk shake.. Hope that's acceptable, medically
Thanks for the great content Dr. Pal. Quick question regarding the circadian rhythm, you mention melatonin secretion based on sunset and sunrise . Is this a frame of reference for time or does this actually follow sunset and sunrise timings. For e.g. here in the US, during the summer, we have long days (sunrise at 5:30 am and sunset at 8:0409:00 pm) and the opposite during the winter. Does our food cycle follow these per time or per region?
Doc i had been not eating breakfast for last 2 yrs , its like brunch around 12 or 1 . I feel good , not miserable then dinner only 2 meal a day . It's like fasting to the max time i can push . I had not issues and gradually i been reducing weight as well. I can relate what u r saying about the circadium rhtym
Anna you are amazing anna simplifying the facts as understandable as possible especially to my parents. To answer the question in your video 1 hour after waking up.
Good evening dr pal. I m your great fan. Yes for two months, I followed your fasting hours. I am very very happy. I lost 1 kilo. That is a great achievement for me. No hunger no diet. But takes time. Two months 1 kilo so for four months will be 2 kilo. It’s okay for me. Thank you so much dr pal.
Hi doc. I am happen to see your videos felt totally amazing. I am 54 yrs. Starting your circadian rhythm now, and forwarding to all my friends and relatives. Thank you. Just you're living within our homes. Try to follow all your advices. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Great Video Doc, Crisp and good information given. Thank you! I already have been following this since I was a kid, eating breakfast 1-1.5hrs later after waking up. I recently started IF, so I eat dinner by 7pm and eat next meal I.e breakfast by 9:30-10am. I have PCOS ergo fasting has become a part of my life. 😅
Hello doctor Pal... after getting inspired by your videos, I started my IF journey and lost nearly 9 kgs in a span of 3 months... in this video you said our first bite should be after 1 hour of waking up...can we have water immediately after waking up? Thank you in advance
Yes he has already stated in one of his videos that you should always wake up to water and not coffee. Water hydrates your body after 6 or any hours of night sleep. plain hot water is recommended.
Doing intermittent fasting for the past 15 days now. Lost 7 kgs. The hrs of fasting and eating is 16:8 plus i run and do circuit training in the evening. No rice or salads. No snacking in between. It's remarkable how your body changes when you don't put in unnecessary calories in. My average calories per day is about 1500
@@silviyajohn09 I'm from the southern part of India. My meals mostly consist of Dosa. Sambar. Coconut chutney. Eggs. Fruits for fibre. This is for breakfast. In lunch and dinner i take one Rotti with ample amount of dal and 1-2 piece of grilled chicken for protein. The point is to have 3 meals. But in proper portions. Awesome video! Question for you - I have started 16/8 intermittent fasting from last week. I typically fast from 8 PM to 2 PM the next day. It’s been going alright so far, but curious to know your thoughts on intermittent fasting.
@Dr.Pal, I have the same question. With 16:8 IF either dinner or breakfast has to be skipped. Would you recommend 16:8 or is 12:12 is better pls? Thanks.
Just starting to follow your videos . Your info is very informative but your narration is too good. The unmistakeable humour is something which I enjoy. Keep going doc….
Dr. Pal, first bite is around 30 mins -1 hour after waking up . I started time restricted feeling 1 month back . Barring couple of days I was able to hold to it . Only issue is occasional headache at night but I am getting used to it . I wake up very hungry and eat considerably well. I might have to overcome that soon.
Hi. I like all your videos and explanation. I have a couple of question. 1. I am in Europe and during summer the sunrise is at around 4am and sunsets at 10.45pm. I understand the concept of mindful eating, but you know... the sun is up till 11pm... 😀 .. so can I eat as long as I see the sunlight? :D 2. During Ramzan, my muslim friends fasts during day and eats only after sunset. It is a concept of intermittent fasting and resetting body health. Why did they choose to eat at night? Anything related to their origin geological locations? Just curious.
Dr Pal, thank you for your wonderful insights. They are so motivating. I have a question. I am 62 years and trying to practice intermittent fasting based on your recommendation. I get up around 430am and around 5pm go for a 10 mile run 5 days a week. Should I have something like a banana before such runs as these runs are take about 2 hours. I eat my dinner at 730pm
Hello Dr., I found your videos very educational and motivating as I am trying to bring down my belly fat and weight. One question that I have is I play vigorous badminton twice a week for a total of about 4.5-5 hrs. I usually finish and come home at 10:30 PM. Given that I have just been active and feel extremely hungry, can I eat a small meal or is it still a no-no? Thanks so much!
I am so glad to find out that breakfast should be light and delayed after waking up.. me and my husband both feel the same and have been telling our family members that although we have woken up, our stomach feels asleep as we wouldn’t be able to eat more than a small bowl of poha. But the few bad things I was doing was putting coffee as the 1st thing on empty stomach and having late night dinner and snacks after 12 am… we would be up till 3am to work and would eventually feel hungry but I am slowly changing that..

In our PG (paying guest) system, we get breakfast at 7:30 am and get dinner at 7:30 pm. It's really very synchronized for planning 12 hours fasting!
That is not actually a fast though
1) eat breakfast- not heavy ( also don't skip it )
2) can have heavy lunch
3) very light dinner as early as possible ( skipping is the ideal case scenario )
Summary certified.
Nobody can skip breakfast... the first meal of the day is breaking the fast..hence breakfast😂
This is totally wrong breakfast should and can be very heavy lunch should be little bit less...and dinner none

HAPPY 😁

Then mild tea snacks ( not junk item) by 5pm and followed by mild to moderate dinner around 8 pm and I will sleep only aft 2 to 3 hrs aft my dinner. Thanks for the great content Dr. Pal. Quick question regarding the circadian rhythm, you mention melatonin secretion based on sunset and sunrise . Is this a frame of reference for time or does this actually follow sunset and sunrise timings. For e.g. here in the US, during the summer, we have long days (sunrise at 5:30 am and sunset at 8:04 09:00 pm) and the opposite during the winter. Does our food cycle follow these per time or per region?
Per region, per time...wherever you are follow the sunrise ,sunset time.

Only issue is occasional headache at night but I am getting used to it . I wake up very hungry and eat considerably well. I might have to overcome that soon.

2. During Ramzan, my muslim friends fasts during day and eats only after sunset. It is a concept of intermittent fasting and resetting body health. Why did they choose to eat at night? Anything related to their origin geological locations? Just curious.
