I lost 8 kgs with in 38 days now 87kgs.. within these days I followed intermittent fasting with Low carb diet 16:8 also no rice, had salads mostly for lunch and idly at 7 pm and no snacking in between. Also weight training in the morning for 5 time a week. This is all started because of a day realisation I had when went to family outing. I was unable to play not even for 30min as I felt back pain eventhougt I am 25 yrs old. That hit me hard and during this 38 days I am more active and could feel having more energy, even with less consumption.

In my childhood ,the ancestral village there was no electricity..Even after electrification ,the voltage was less. So, when we all reach there on summer and Christmas vaccation,we were 15 children and young adults.Breakfast was rice porridge.Lincch was rice and curry with one subji. And evening before sunset our dinner will be given before sunset,as it is easy to serve and clean rather than with kerosene ranthals.I have lived those days. And my mother or aunt will take rice curry and subji in a big pot and mix with hand and give to each one ,in small balls called in Malayalam as urula.subji's,pickles, fritters and pappads also will be served ,in plantain leave pieces. That was the way.

My eating period has slight changes everytime but I make sure that it end by 6 pm. So I was fasting for 18 hours and more and eating home cooked food (roti, chawal) in moderation with good enough of protein and water.
I will update again in 2 weeks.

I started IF back in September 2021 when I was diagnosed with all sorts of digestion problems and gall stones. Although a bit slow in losing weight but it has been consistent. Lost about 30 lbs and still going. I eat all the foods that I like but everything in limited quantities(no processed foods).Indirectly when I did this, I started feeling grateful towards the food more and I have felt thankful for all the people behind for doing so much hard work to get that food on my plate. I waste a lot less which has helped not only my health but also it is satisfactory to realise that by consuming right, someone else also gets the share. I stop eating by 6:30-7:00 p.m in the night and wake up at 6:30 a.m have my breakfast at 9:00-9:30 a.m. and honestly I don’t do a lot of exercise too, running around my toddler daughter + WFH and doing household jobs exhausts me out completely by the end of the day. Dr.Pal , you have inspired me to do the right thing and now all our neighbourhood get togethers for dinners are before 7:00.

I must tell you that I have not only shed off 23kgs of my weight going towards 58 from 85!!! Feel totally energetic and light all through the day. Other things apart, I wish that there could be more research about skipping breakfast being harmful. I can even be a specimen for the tests. Though I have not tested, I think skipping breakfast doesn't affect cardiovascular system is my gut feeling given how I feel now.

In my case I usually eat my 1st meal at 12 to 2 pm depending upon my work(1st mild foods like vegs and fruit and after half an hour have my big heavy meal). Then mild tea snacks ( not junk item) by 5pm and followed by mild to moderate dinner around 8 pm and I will sleep only aft 2 to 3 hrs aft my dinner. Thanks for the great content Dr. Pal. Quick question regarding the circadian rhythm, you mention melatonin secretion based on sunset and sunrise . Is this a frame of reference for time or does this actually follow sunset and sunrise timings. For e.g. here in the US, during the summer, we have long days (sunrise at 5:30 am and sunset at 8:04 09:00 pm) and the opposite during the winter. Does our food cycle follow these per time or per region?
