    i wish 8bitdo would make a dedicated fightpad as opposed to just making versions of older controllers. neo-geo-esque frame, abc/xyz 6 face buttons, both sets of triggers and bumpers, both start/select, saturn m30 dpad. it would be perfect.

    Love 8bitdo and their controllers but man im still not a big fan of the m30 face buttons. I understand its a saturn pad with a specific design philosophy but to me it just feels outdated. This probably feels amazing on retro era sega games but man i really want a solid fightpad from these guys because they make solid dpads.

      @@mat_max it was for Xbox series too? Because I know of the one they made for switch/pc or whatever and that one was awesome you could put keys on it if you didn’t want a joystick but I believe this one is fully missable as well but not sure.
      I plan on putting in some sanwa buttons and an American style joystick one of these days myself

      Wrong. The Dualsense w/ Battlebeaver's D-buttons installed, instead of the standard pad, is the best pad for FGs. They're cheap, easy to install and there's not a pad on the market that compares.

      Yeah I used to have the same issue with this model of the M30, and constantly had it with the 2.4 ghz version. It takes some getting used on where to put your finger where it registers forward only. I have lost some rounds and matches due to this issue though.

    You can re-program the buttons via an app for PC, and then assign that to any profile of your choosing. You can switch button config profiles via the button below the "X-button".

    I LOVED playing SF2 Turbo Ultra Tournament fighter Championship edition version 2.8823 pi with my sega genesis 8-button controller. I was 10 yrs old than and yeah, my hands have probably grown since than and this wouldn't be comfortable. But it really just looks like that 8-button controller.

    have you tried anchoring your thumb at the middle of the dpad? Cause i think thats the better method to use for this kind of dpad, and not the same way how you would use the ps4/5 dpad where you use the tip of your thumb to do dashes and motions. I have both ps4 and xbox controller and the way i use their dpad differs from each other. For xbox, i anchor my thumb and do all the motions
    For ps4, i use the tip of my thumb

Either way mt xbox series x controlelr finally died on me so going forward this is my main pad. Its a great pad, but very tiny

    Doesn't the LS switch at the back let you use the input lag tester?, or does it needs full 360 range for it to work?

    • @FrameCounting
      @FrameCounting  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, but without a continuous signal from the stick, the result will be incredibly inaccurate, choppy and not reflective of actual input lag.

    Is it almost if they did not tested all the features on this thing..
    So frustrating that they almost broke the d-pad and flipped the layout buttons on the triggers.
    Not everybody buy them for fighting games.
    Retro platformers and old pc games are also why we love this design so much.

    • @RitzyBusiness
      @RitzyBusiness 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I own both the m30 and the retrobit so I can give a small opinion on them.
      First and foremost QC and consistency is a lot better on the m30. Everything feels absolutely solid and buttons feel very consistent.
      The retrobit on the other hand all the buttons feel slightly different, the z and c buttons being more mushy on my unit. If you don't tap them from their sweet spot it will feel very short throw mushy and poor.
      The retrobit has an actual pivot, and is a lot more accurate when it comes to motion inputs in my testing. It's very responsive and very good. Problem with the dpad is the same as the button, it feels very inconsistent when you click around the edges, it's just not as big of a problem when you're using it as a pseudo joystick. This has a looser feeling dpad as well, not sure if it matches the Xbox m30 in that category but it's nice.
      The m30 feels a bit smoother in shmups despite not having a pivot it feels better in a 360 degree space. Problem is it's very easy to trigger center which can make you stop in place for a moment. This is less of a. Issue in fighting games where you're doing distinct inputs and not constantly rolling a ship around.
      Shoulder and trigger buttons are probably the best part of the retrobit Saturn pro, they feel fine compared to the other buttons but you can't map RS and LS.
      The non Xbox m30 only has shoulder buttons and they are high quality. You don't have space for RS and LS so it's moot.
      The retrobit Saturn pro has connectivity issues in xinput, steam doesn't seem to detect triggers in dinput mode. It's a weird problem.
      The m30 works flawlessly in Bluetooth mode using xinput.

    Really great in depth review! I’m glad you covered the dpad. 8bitdo drives me nuts with their dpads. I hate that you can push the middle of the dpad down. On an actual genesis controller it has a pivot so you can’t push the middle down. I have a Bluetooth M30, wanted to see if the Xbox version was any better.
