Hey man yes it’s definitely something I need to look into, as I’m taking this channel seriously and getting a gaming pc to increase the content as well.
Hey once I’m on a gaming pc, there are so many controllers I need to try and I’m sure the best ever controller will be one of them which’ll tick all the boxes for fps games.
I tried the Gulikit KK3 Max controller and wasn't happy with it.. Ii had way to many buildquality issues.. After just a few weeks of use It had developed a RB button squaking very loudy, a left trigger wtih a ticking spring and worst of all a left stick that was not moving smooth anymore when pushing forward with some bump in it when going left & right.. I sent Gulikit an e-mail asking for a replacement and never got an answer, so I refunded it on Amazon.. After that I bought the 8Bido Ultimate 2.4Ghz with hall effect sticks (basically the non-licensed Xbox version as seen in this video).. So far so good after a week of use (PC gaming), no issues.. I liked the shape of the Gulikit a bit more (more like official Xbox) but the 8Bitdo is nice aswell and the software and charging dock it comes with is very nice and easy to use.. I also read a lot more people have issues with the KK3 Max, so yeah in short you can buy one and see if you get lucky not having issues with it, otherwise the 8Bitdo is a very good (probably much more reliable) alternative imho.. Also 30 euro/dollar cheaper (50 vs 80 bucks)..
@@edysoncolllado1190 Yeah I'm sure that's also good from what I've seen and read about it, but it's way more expensive and I do not need all those features.. I also prefer the more basic cleaner look of the 8Bitdo (same for the Gulikit)..
I might get a new controller, I have a g7 se but I wanted a wireless controller. 8bitdo ultimate bluetooth controller or the Gamesir t4 cyclone pro. Which is better? Also is the 8bitdo bluetooth one have the same performance of the thumsticks compared to the one you are reviewing in the video here?
The controller exceptional in responsiveness, a trait already synonymous with Xbox third party controllers. However, the stick output poses a slight mystery, which might not appeal to everyone. Still for those transitioning from a standard series controller, this could represent a substantial performance upgrade.
Hey bro yes I actually want to add that in my collection, it’ll be a good PlayStation style controller for Xbox. Currently it’s showing July 31st release here in UK.
Hi I'm sorry but I don't understand the "linear input part". I was really enjoying the 8BitDo Ultimate Wired (I believe first generation as it does not have hall effect sticks), but unfortunetly my right stick now has drift. From my understanding this would be a pretty good controller for me considering I really liked the one I currently have and just dont want stick drift? I really don't care about programable buttons and wired is preffered for battery cost, not for latency. Thanks!
It appears that this controller exhibits a distinct algorithm for stick inputs compared to other hall effect controllers. The responsiveness of the controller is impressive, but the unfiltered raw output might be contributing to this behavior
Hey thanks for sharing bro, I’ve never had an 8bitdo controller before. I do get what you mean with the aim. You find controllers feel so different to each other at times, but thankfully with different aim settings available in game, I’ve been able to use them effectively. At times I do wonder what would I prefer if I could only have one controller and what sort of output would be best for me. It’s something I’ll make a video on once I’ve tried some gaming pc controllers as well.
Hey bro with the 1000hz on G7se personally I’d pick that over this, but if we take the 1000hz out then this one for sure is more responsive. Arguably the ergonomics will play a part as well, as I had to adjust my grip a bit to use this one effectively, G7se just feels more comfortable to me personally, but the opposite could be the case for some depending on hand size.
Honestly it feels like none of the licensed Xbox controllers are perfect. EswapX ticks most boxes for me but can have serious issues with stick modules, then we have third party modified Xbox controllers and they can be an amazing option but I do feel other controllers outperform standard Xbox controller. The title for a perfect controller I believe would be suitable for some unlicensed controllers like Apex4, rainbow 2 pro, vaider 3 pro, or a dualsense modified controller overclocked to 1000hz on pc with 4 back buttons. There are some controllers that come very close like the stealth ultra, but then really let down by forced minimum and axial deadzones 🤦🏽♂️
Is there a difference with this and the one with the dock? they're basically the same price as of now, and I'm having a hard time choosing, I'm also eyeing the Gamesir t4 nova.
Hey I just ran a test on it, and when you press down, the stick registers more movement than it should, resulting in a more pronounced square shape, which is typical when there's no outer dead zone. Thankfully, my unit doesn't exhibit any irregular shapes. The higher circularity error numbers are to be expected in this scenario, as without outer dead zones, the stick axes naturally form a square shape. Pressing down simply accentuates this square shape, rather than the hybrid shape you'd get with a physical thumbstick gate stopping the stick earlier than when pressed in.
Congrats for the video, concise and thorough. The missed the opportunity to put 4 rear paddles/buttons or even better, 6 total shoulder/trigger buttons plus 2 back buttons. Also this video proves that hall effect can get stick drift, and how 8bitdo has implemented a well developed function to recalibrate, I have like how it is implemented a lot.
Bro I’d have taken 2 extra shoulder buttons and trigger stops. Not sure what’s going on and why no one is taking a chance to make a truly ultimate 4 extra button controller. It’s like there is some market research which makes companies avoid making one and opt for only 2 extra buttons.
@@thephototechy For me the company focusing on hall effect controller that provides the betther consistency in quality (for the price they put) is Gamesir, I have 4 T4 Kaleid and 1 G7 SE, and all behave perfect. The company that innovates more in my opinon is Flydigi, but their quality is very inconsistent (and one youtuber girl, Russian If I don´t recall wrongly, opened one of them on camera and showed their low quality work with the soldering, and said other controllers from Flydigi she had seen had the same crappy soldering work), I love Flydigi's sw suite, their habitily to remap buttons to keys on the keyboard, etc... This 8bitdo looks like a good improvement over the previous hall effect controller, which I did not like at all. About sw suites, I love what the Alpakka Controller guys are doing, they are implementing the habilty to program, long press, quick press twice, and normal press, and remap each to any key of the keyboard, I would love any of the chinese makers would copy that, very close to the miriad of options Steam Input gives you. About the not perfect linearity of the graph 17:55, I guess you are moving the stick in only one axis, so the reading are taken from only one the x or y sensor on the stick. If you could isolate reading only the movement of the motor you are using to move the stick, you could see if the motor movement is absolutely linear, and filter out that from your readings on the controller stick. if the readings on the movement of the motor movement are aboslutely linear over the time that movement is happening, and the readings of the movement of the stick over time, due to the movement induced by the motor are still not totally linear, you can infer, that the non linearity is beacuse of something inside the controller, and continue from there. Do you use twitter, this in my handle: twitter.com/fonewn I dont use instragram

I got this too along with my old g7 se, with this 8bit do the audio output via 3.5mm is really hollow and flat :( can you confirm this with your unit? Audio is flat, idk how to describe it. To me it feels chunky to hold and I can't get used to the PlayStation style bumper and triggers. :( Nice video thanks for reviewing ☺️
Did they take away the ability to add a button combination to the back paddle buttons? I have a previous version of this controller and the software has a Macro option where you can assign whatever button combination you want to the back paddle buttons
Hey bro, so I haven’t come across any licensed Xbox controllers with macro capabilities, it might be a condition of the license hence not available here.
What is the difference between this and the one that is on pre-order right now that has RGB rings around the sticks? I was thinking about picking one up these up to replace my original Xbox Series S/X controller that got stick drift. I see your version has back buttons on it (P1/P2), i don't know if the one that has RGB rings for $35 has those though. I just wanna get a controller that won't break after 4 months.
Hey bro, so you are correct the rgb ring one doesn’t have any back buttons, so it’ll be a solid option for anyone who don’t need them. There is another option which has wireless support on pc and wired on Xbox, that one is more expensive but has extra features such as micro switches in bumpers and Dpad, not sure what ABXY buttons have. The controller is definitely one of really good options for wired on Xbox regardless of its price point. Just be mindful of the stick output which I do believe will be ok coming from standard Xbox controller.
@@thephototechyI’m trying to find a Xbox controller with Hall effect sticks that can be played wireless on the Xbox. I have this controller. I’m pretty sure but I think you have to have it wired on Xbox to play it on the Xbox, but you can play it wirelessly on PC.
Hello, I bought that model and the truth is it is very good, the only detail I found is that Steam does not recognize it as an Xbox series joystick and I cannot configure the "share" button to use it to capture screen... any solution?
Hey phototechy Can you tell me if this controller will develop drift as quick as my g7se did,ik u mentioned that the g7se has weaker springs in the sticks and I was wondering if this controllers sticks would wear out as quick Thanks
Hey bro this one is using the same Ksilver JH16 modules as the G7se. What we don't know if Ksilver has options of different spring strength for their modues like C&K ones in Eswap does. My guess these will be the same as the G7se.
@thephototechy oh alright,I hope that in the future HE pads will have better quality springs because I LOVE playing with 0 dead zone on all games as it feels very responsive and I usually play more competitive fast paced games,so the fact that my g7se developed drift so quick kinda bummed me out but ig it's OK Thanks for the reply😊
Hey I never tried the older version and can’t say if it’s using higher quality favorunion or alps sticks, If that’s the case then yes it’s definitely worth it at a lower price. If it’s using the cheap favorunion sticks used by the cheaper PowerA and PDP controllers then getting the Hall effect sticks is the way for sure, coz those cheap sticks don’t last like the higher alps ones.
Hey bro for me personally, Kaleid is better just because of 500hz with audio on xbox, better ergonomics imo and a linear higher resolution output from the sticks. But if you don't need the ergonomics of the Gamesir and would like to try a different aim output then this is a really good option.
@@thephototechy tbh I dont really plan to use it for Xbox. I just need it for PC(Genshin and Steam Games). Due to some circumstances I can't use Bluetooth and the 2.4g dongle so I need a wired one. Considering that is it still better?
@@meishi7271 Bro for PC the Kaleid will be able to give you a true 1000hz and man the face buttons will come in handy for the games you'll be playing. If cost is not the issue I'd say Kaleid can be a better option, but this one does have membrane in the bumpers that can potentially be longer lasting than some cheaper tact switches.
@@thephototechy Thanks for the info! Also is mechanical easier to press compared the the membrane? I have small fingers so I would prefer something lighter to the touch. Not really familiar with the Gamesir brand are their controllers long lasting?

I used 2.4G wireless. Does anybody know whether it is possible at all? Further, do the back paddle buttons of elite series 2 work on steam deck?
Do Xbox KF’s fit this controller or do you need PS ones like you do on Gamesir models? Edit: apologies, just got to the point where you talk about that! Disregard.

Hey man i have problem unrelated to the video the left stick of my g7 se just swaped with my dpad, so the dpad acts like a joystick , and the joystick acts like a dpad and idk how to fix it
Bro honestly depends how you use it, for me personally I mainly use G7se and EswapX on my seriesx, both have their advantage and disadvantages and both are not perfect. If EswapX with its aiming algorithm output gets a Hall effect module released by thrustmaster, then I’m certain it can be my main controller.
@@Troynex EswapS is also a good one, but I’d say 4 back buttons are better than 2, otherwise I’d just use the G7se. X2 should be preferred over the older one, I’m thinking of getting it for myself
Hey so the grips are smaller than series controller and this can definitely make it more appealing for smaller hands use. I’ve only used the dualsense as never had a ps4, compared to dualsense this feels smaller to me.
Hey bro so this one is definitely locked to 250hz in my experience, it might be the new unreleased one which is a tri mode xbox controller that could be the 1000hz, but thats currently showing release of 31st juy here in UK.
Fam, if possible can you review the 8bitdo pro 2(the new version with hall effect for the xbox) ? I recently I bought an Xbox Series X, and I have try my best to get familiar with the xbox gamepad after years of being a playstation user, but I can't get comfortable with it. And its messing a lot with my gameplay on COD not being able to play claw without the ps4 controller. And I recently find out that the 8bitdo pro 2 is pretty much like a playstation controller for xbox, but I don't know if it can be good for FPS games or just is for retro games.
Hey bro I’m definitely looking at that one. I have a feeling it should exactly be like this one in performance and only the layout and shell seat is different. That one, BFG and EswapX are the only ones that I know with PlayStation layout, but out of all three I think the 8bit is probably the best ergonomically.
I know bro, we are still waiting for a licensed Xbox controller that’s affordable with back buttons, Hall effect sticks and trigger stops. The only one is snakebyte gamepd pro but it’s priced nearly double of this one.
Off rip, I don't know why this controller even exists. This controller and it's price compared to the GameSir G7 SE makes this controller look like a joke, because it is. It has at least 4 less features than the G7 at almost the same exact price.
So I have a theory that 8bit and Gamesir are not competing with each other, instead competing with turtlebeach, PDP & PowerA. Both 8bit and Gamesir are from Hongkong and both have managed to get a license from Xbox, which for that part of the work is not a small thing. To me it feels both have decided to cater to different players and their products feel like that. Let’s see what the T4 for Xbox from Gamesir will be like, it wouldn’t surprise me when both 8bit and Gamesir release a 4 back button controller close to each other.
Thank you for such a detailed test of the resolution of sticks. This is a really interesting and useful method.

@@inflatable2 just bought Flydigi Apex 4 Best controller I have ever owned built quality S tier
@@edysoncolllado1190 Yeah I'm sure that's also good from what I've seen and read about it, but it's way more expensive and I do not need all those features.. I also prefer the more basic cleaner look of the 8Bitdo (same for the Gulikit)..
Nice review❤
Hey thanks bro, really appreciate all the support!
Nice review. They are on sale, so what would be the best? this controller or the ultimate C hall effect?
Great Video. Maby next Nacon Revolution X Green Forest?
Would you put this high up on the list? Sounds too good to be true, 8bitdo did their thing
The controller exceptional in responsiveness, a trait already synonymous with Xbox third party controllers. However, the stick output poses a slight mystery, which might not appeal to everyone. Still for those transitioning from a standard series controller, this could represent a substantial performance upgrade.
hello my friend ,i hope u also review the 8Bitdo Pro 2 ( hall effect version or the regular )xbox controller
thx in advanced 🙏🏻
Hey bro yes I actually want to add that in my collection, it’ll be a good PlayStation style controller for Xbox. Currently it’s showing July 31st release here in UK.
@@thephototechy ok man thx
G7 SE is still best but the 8bit comes very close in my opinion.
I do hope we get to keep the 1000hz, coz at 250 this one definitely is more responsive, but G7se does have a more linear output than this.
Bought a 8bitdo a few years ago, aim never felt good on first person shooters, i liked the feel but sometimes it hurt my hands
With 1000hz activated on the G7SEs, how would you rate these over those?
Thanks for the review!
@@thephototechy Thank you! No reason for me to deactivate the 1000hz so I will keep my G7 then for now.
Is there a video on the channel teaching how to overclock the 8bitdo without hall effect?
Hey I haven’t used that one, this is my first 8bitdo controller.
Good review, in your opinion, what would be the best Xbox controller today?
@@thephototechyis it possible to use the apex 4 or rainbow pro 2 on Xbox?
@@jamesfarmer2642 I’ve seen comments where people have mentioned that it is, but haven’t tried it myself.
Is there a difference with this and the one with the dock? they're basically the same price as of now, and I'm having a hard time choosing, I'm also eyeing the Gamesir t4 nova.
Can you test the circularity of the thumbstick when you pressing down on it cause i have read an article on reddit that it has a weird shape
If you could isolate reading only the movement of the motor you are using to move the stick, you could see if the motor movement is absolutely linear, and filter out that from your readings on the controller stick.
if the readings on the movement of the motor movement are aboslutely linear over the time that movement is happening, and the readings of the movement of the stick over time, due to the movement induced by the motor are still not totally linear, you can infer, that the non linearity is beacuse of something inside the controller, and continue from there.

hall effect cant get stick drift, only centering spring wearing out
@@stevensv4864What is the strick drift that is not centering spring wearing out? Is there any other type of cause for stick drift?
@@thephototechyIt seems that youtube has shadowbanned my reply to your comment. It shows in my account, only the begiggning. Too long to post it again. Greetings.
Nice video thanks for reviewing ☺️
Did they take away the ability to add a button combination to the back paddle buttons? I have a previous version of this controller and the software has a Macro option where you can assign whatever button combination you want to the back paddle buttons
Hey bro, so I haven’t come across any licensed Xbox controllers with macro capabilities, it might be a condition of the license hence not available here.
@@thephototechy darn that sucks
Does anyone know if kontrol freaks fit over these joysticks?
Hey phototechy
Can you tell me if this controller will develop drift as quick as my g7se did,ik u mentioned that the g7se has weaker springs in the sticks and I was wondering if this controllers sticks would wear out as quick
Thanks
Hey bro this one is using the same Ksilver JH16 modules as the G7se. What we don't know if Ksilver has options of different spring strength for their modues like C&K ones in Eswap does. My guess these will be the same as the G7se.
@thephototechy oh alright,I hope that in the future HE pads will have better quality springs because I LOVE playing with 0 dead zone on all games as it feels very responsive and I usually play more competitive fast paced games,so the fact that my g7se developed drift so quick kinda bummed me out but ig it's OK
Thanks for the reply😊
at their site it says the trigger also has hall effect some say it doesnt, whats really there?
The Ultimate software isn't recognizing or detecting my controller on windows 11. how did you get it to work or remove the dead zones?
are the all effects sticks worth it? the regular one is on sale for cheaper in my area
How about 3.5mm audio?
The sound quality of the basic Xbox pad was clean
Gamesrig7se audio was heavily white noise. How about this product?
So do you buy it?
Did u get one if u did is the sound good?
What about the battery 🔋?😮
Is this better than the Gamesir Kaleid(not flux)?
I have tried to use this controller with steam deck. While it works, it could only be recognized as a standard xbox controller, meaning that the two back paddle buttons could not be recognized.
Disregard.
Hey I actually used both Xbox and PlayStation ones on it and personally preferred the Xbox ones, even though they were a little bit tight to get on, they felt way more secure
Hey man i have problem unrelated to the video the left stick of my g7 se just swaped with my dpad, so the dpad acts like a joystick , and the joystick acts like a dpad and idk how to fix it

Does it use hall effect sticks?
Hey yes this version is with Hall effect sticks, using Ksilver JH16 modules
Can you play wireless on the xbox series s
no, it cam be only used as wired on any xbox
No wireless options. Hell they have one that’s wireless for everything but Xbox.
Xbox/Microsoft won't lend their wireless technology to 3rd parties because it's proprietary. Simple as that.
What game did u test ?
Hey so the day I got ti we had the Xdefiant server test going live, first day was on that and then cod mw3.
Name of the game played?
First: Xdefiant ; Second: COD MW3
trigger stops :(
I know bro, we are still waiting for a licensed Xbox controller that’s affordable with back buttons, Hall effect sticks and trigger stops.
@@thephototechy a 4 paddles version of the G7 SE, maybe even PC bind programmable, so all binds can be custom, is all I want.
