    Man if you like this you should try the SN30 Pro 2. It’s this controller combined with modern ergonomics. Still get that retro feel but can use it with modern games too.

      ooh Same here! If I'm using the sticks, I go back and forth on preferring the sn30 pro2 or the proController on my switch. For a D-pad, the sn30pro2 is hands down the better choice. I did just pick up the 8bitdo lite (no sticks) for nintendo switch online games and it is GREAT for Tetris and Mario 3.

      Sadly my SN30 Pro +'s rechargeable batteries decided to die on me. Ended up having to buy those rechargeable AA batteries which is still and actually an okay replacement. Been using it for more than 2 years now with modified joysticks since the old one melted out due to sweat I guess.
      Edit: I think I have the non-2 version. Maybe they upgraded the batteries on the newer ones?

      Patrick, if you don't mind it, you can use the SN30 wired too, I do with my switch. No charging to worry about and seems to have less latency, not that there was much to begin with but less accidental hiccups from Bluetooth. I removed the rechargeable battery pack from both of mine, makes them lighter for longer sessions that way too.

    It is an excellent controller. One thing worth mentioning is that it is one of the few controllers that Analogue guarantees to work with the Pocket Dock, and it works very well for that purpose. It also packs flat and is easier to transport in smaller bags. If you stack them inverted on top of each other, they can protect each other while taking up about the same space as an Xbox One controller or similar. It works fairly well with the Steam Deck as well, but it does require some fiddling with it because it can accept so many types of input. If you enable the A-B swap, it will automatically reconfigure most controls to the printed layout on the controller. If not, you can always move things around using Steams excellent controller interface. Anyways, that's enough obscure details. Nice review. I hope this helps someone.
    Also, get well soon TD.

      Hopefully 8Bitdo will release a 2.4g version of this controller with minimal latency, since the blue tooth version has just a bit too much Looks like I'll have to settle for the Wired USB SN30 Pro(GameBoy version) instead for the time being. 8Bitdo has such a confusing and weird mix matching line of controllers.
      They also have the SN30 2.4g wireless snes controller, which would of been perfect, but it only works with the original SNES and not Switch. Won't even bother with what Retro-Bit has. their controllers are usually second rate, with the exception of their 6 button genesis clone controller which is an easy 10/10.

    I myself am a fan of retro videogames, so I bought an 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad controller 4 years ago, and I have not regretted the purchase.
    I also like the D-Pad, the two analog sticks and the two pairs of trigger buttons on this retro-style controller. 😃
    I've played through a bunch of Sonic rom hacks and an indie game (Ori and the Will of the Wisps), it was great to play with that controller. 😊

    I love the look and feel of this controller but was completely let down by the D-Pad, which erroneously inserts up or down inputs into my left and right inputs if pressed even slightly off-centre, particularly when switching between them quickly. This was such a common issue for this model that there are several guides on how to internally mod it (with tape or page protector circle stickers) to correct these false inputs. I eventually resorted to the mod, which was mostly successful in correcting the inputs, with the expense that pressing the DPad is quite a lot more firm than it was originally. Resultingly, this controller only tends to get used when I travel and want something small but full-featured to pack away. To be honest, I find the DPad on the Xbox Series Controller to be a lot better, even though it's not a "classic" style controller. I now use an actual OG SNES controller connected to a low-latency daemonbite adapter for classic style input... it's not wireless, but it's hard to beat the originals. Or, if I really want wireless, I reach for the 8bitDo M30 2.4ghz model - this is more a Saturn clone type of controller, and having 6 buttons feels a bit a strange for SNES type games, but otherwise has performed faultlessly and with very low latency for me.

Which is noticeable when playing for example MegaMan X when charging your charge shot and dash jumping. And the analogs should not be there. I have the older SN30 Pro that looks just like the SNES controllers, and it's a shame they still don't offer that version as well. I'm guessing because they got sued since I can't find the SFC version either. I should have bought more of them when they still had them for sale. Regardless, it's excellent. I might even say the sticks are better than the official Switch Pro controller, and obviously... the D-Pad is perfect.

    This form factor actually makes for a compelling "portable/handheld" experience if used with a phone. I remember when 5-inch phones were apparently too large in the early-mid 2010s and at that time a lot of joypad makers got one of those small-sized joypads that included compact phone holders and generally had the base arrangement of buttons (Samsung Gamepad, anyone?)
    Now that Android handheld consoles are a thing, I'm a bit surprised that people who don't use these only recommend one of those bulky regular console joypads when smaller (But not tiny like the Zero/Micro/Lite) pads can actually fit with the phone itself in a small pouch. I had the N30 Pro back in 2017 (When the Switch support was just rolling out) Of course the D-pad was an infamous issue but it otherwise was comfortable to hold.

    If the X and Y buttons were white it would be a neat reference to the super game boy controller.

    I've been using one of these alongside my steam deck for a bit now, I really hate the steam decks controller layout and buttons for some kinds of games. It's so pocketable and reasonably comfortable for its size. I love it to death.

    I’ve been wanting a controller for my TH-cam studio setup for a while, I just have a tiny one. I wonder if this is the one for me. Also, I am soooo sad we didn’t get a sexy Tina Turner episode.

    I really like the 8bitdo Lite controller for retro games (no joysticks). It's really good and maybe look into it!😊

    Surprised it took you so long to get it, welcome to the best controller!! Tho the xbox version made for Android is technically a little better, exact same controller but with analog triggers

    I bought the 8bitdo sn30 pro to use on my super console x and it works well. I still use it on the 8bit games. I did notice for me personally it is kinda small and can be a little hard to use the shoulder buttons with it. I am a big guy and have big hands and "sausage fingers". The controller is very high quality and works amazing on the scx. I would recommend it to anyone.

    Hey buddy!! Just making sure this controller isn't too awkward with the N64's Z/C buttons and the GameCube controllers layout. I have the 8BIT Minis but this will be new to my collection.

    I own several 8BitDo controllers as I've found them to be the most reliable and most comfortable in the hands. Fits better in the pocket too. Only thing missing is analog control on the triggers but to be honest, when I'm playing racing games like Mario Kart or Forza, I'm putting the pedal to the metal anyway trying to reach 1st place! Never have I needed to drive at 10% speed in those type of games.

    • @Josuh
      @Josuh 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @Cyko..
      @Cyko.. 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Josuh I can see that but we've never used analog triggers in Mario Kart games and we've done just fine going around those tight curves.
