Not yet. Where I live it is pretty cold outside right now but maybe I would have some issues in the summer. Although I would definitely say that I don’t run my Xmaxx too hard, so that could also be the reason it doesn’t overheat.
Yep. I will say, The stock gearing for me was plenty fast even on 6s. It was fun to upgrade just for something a little different, but I think I will eventually change it back.
To my knowledge, changing the spur gear as I did in this video is the best way to increase performance. I believe the input gear does increase performance as well but I have never changed that so I cannot confirm.
@@Cars_Boats_RCs it was the second run with fresh lipos. And was stil doing it easy, Got gpm gears now just steel. And no problems what so ever. Stil got the brass things to show u if u want it aint steel.
I know that they aren’t steel, I’m just saying I’ve never had any problems with them and I haven’t been aware that they are really a weak point of the truck
👍
Thanks!!
Thanks mate great work
Thanks!
Do you have temp issues if you drive it offroad with this gearing?

@@Cars_Boats_RCs thank you for the reply. I don't run too hard my models neither so it could work for me also.

@@Cars_Boats_RCsyou should have put the 50t in then. Right in the middle.
Is the 20t transmission input gear stock or aftermarket?
The X-Maxx comes stock out of the box with an 18-tooth pinion gear and a 54-tooth spur gear.
@@Cars_Boats_RCs I mean the input gear for the transmission, aka the slipper clutch as some may call it
For the input gear I believe so. I know that Traxxas sells an upgraded one which is a 24-tooth gear.
@@Cars_Boats_RCs does the input gear really effect the performance of the xmaxx?

How do u know u have everything in right after u screwed everything back in
You just have to remember everything you take off and make sure you put it all in the same way you took it apart.
the stock gears suck hard from traxxas. it aint even steel. Breass with a coating of plated steel it does not bend it breaks.
I’ve never had any problems with Traxxas gears, but I run on 6S not 8S. However, any gear can break if you are really pushing the truck to its limits
