    Just had to come on here and say thank you for this video. Got the xrt a week ago and have been having a ball with it! Gearing was balled and instead of waiting to go to the hobby shop, you video was clear, consise and direct. Thank you. Took me an hour just because i wanted to make sure i was doing everything correctly, but now I feel like do it in 20 mins. 🎉

      Thanks, glad I could help! The XRT is a lot of fun to drive and kinda therapeutic to work on as well lol the parts are bigger and everything is pretty easy to get to, now that you know how to change the gearing your right you should be able to do it a lot faster 🤙 thanks for watching!

      Thanks brother, although the XRT is similar to the Xmaxx in many ways, there are some differences too, the XRT is going to be a lot easier to work on, most of the main components in the chassis are exposed and therefore easier to get to and work on, the Xmaxx is easy to work on as well but most of its vitals are kinda caged in the chassis

    I had run mine only 2 times on a soccer field. Went full throttle, then came to a quick stop. Then proceeded to go forward, I hear my gears grinding and the truck didn't move. Opened the gear box and the gears were shredded. I had to use a magnet to take out all the pieces of gear. I've successfully changed the gears. This video helped me out so much thank you!

      Yeah the gears are made of cheap metal, hardened steel gears may be the way to go, thanks for watching 🤙

      @@tranceromance nice, well you won’t have to worry about changing out your gears for a while then, just make sure when you jump it, don’t land on the throttle, that shreds gears! Also check out my battery video here on the channel if you haven’t seen it yet, I show how to install your batteries on the XRT! It could definitely save you a lot of trouble!

      Yeah I’m hoping that’s not gonna be an ongoing issue ( stripping gears ) I’ve gone through a few on my Xmaxx as well, just running it, not even jumping it off the ramp lol, may have to upgrade to hardened steal if it happens again

      Stripped both those gears 15 minutes after buying, right outside the hobby store, then did it again the next day after two sessions with little to no bashing, It’s been very disappointing to say the least, not sure what to do.

    Looks like the motor pin location for high speed gearing has changed according to Traxxas's manual on page 24. The locations are now C,G for high speed gearing 46T / 23T to improve meshing. Has anyone tested this recently?

    Tighten up the motor Mount screws, some people reporting them to be loose out of the box. Additionally, let off the throttle when landing. Monkey metal don’t last very long.

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      NEVER use RED lock tight, always use BLUE, blue is sufficient for any repair or adjustment you may need to do and that goes for all Rc’s, thanks for watching 🤙

    What if you put some gear lube on those?? maybe they last longer because they probably get hot and break

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well you could but they are made out of a low grade metal, harden steel gears would be better 🤙

    • @Jackyl82334
      @Jackyl82334 ปีที่แล้ว

      The gears aren't in a sealed compartment, if you have any kind of lubricant on them the dirt and dust will stick to the gears and break them also.

  • @floatingprisonrc
    @floatingprisonrc ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you actually have to move the two pins? Cause im confused on how only moving the two pins will move the motor, wont just making the spur smaller and pinion bigger in equal amounts make the mesh the same?

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I think what Traxxas was tryin to do here is to take the guess work out of meshing the gears and at the same time, using that pin system to kinda keep the motor locked into place to avoid it shifting

    • @floatingprisonrc
      @floatingprisonrc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rcreviews9894 theyve had that system for a while, the xmaxx has the exact same system but theres only 2 pins, im just confused on how only moving 2 out of 4 pins on the xrt moves the motor at all, im working on a customers xrt and he was asking about the high speed gears so thats what started this whole thing lol

  • @ccog26
    @ccog26 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it necessary to move the motor pins?

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would, you could technically mount the motor the oldschool way using the paper method or by sound by removing the pins all together I suppose, however it will be very difficult to hold that mesh into place considering you would have to flip it over to screw in the motor mount screws, those pins are designed to take out the guess work when meshing the gears and to also hold the mesh into place while you remount the motor and provide extra stability preventing motor slipping once mounted

  • @mickbonnecroy219

    Just make sure u dont touch the gas trigger in anyway whatsoever and you will have less likely ur breaking gears

  • @vmezick
    @vmezick 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I set the pins and mesh was too tight. I ditched the pins and set mesh myself. Its not hart to do. Each gear has different tolerances so the pins might not give you the best mesh

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is possible to set your mesh the old school way, either with paper or by sound and feel, I didn’t have this problem, the mesh was perfect with the pins being moved,to each their own, do what works for you🤙

    My spur and pinion gear stripped directly out of the box, within 5 minutes of light driving, its nothing you did wrong, just a poor design and poor quality materials. Pretty frustrating for a $1,000 car, thanks for showing how to change them!

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I’ve heard that a lot about the XRT, it’s a shame because it really does make Traxxas look bad when they are asking for 1000 dollars and the Truck breaks right out of the box, I don’t remember having issues like that with the Xmaxx, it’s not a deal breaker but it’s not a good look nonetheless, thanks for watching!🤙
