Valuable insight! With prices going down this is a great time to get into an F8X. Been following since the 340. Congrats on your 1 year of ownership and getting into your dream car. Keep going 💯
When I was taught to drive a manual (long time ago) I was told to always put the gear into 2nd before throwing it into 1st. Doing so helps open the synchros making it easier to put into 1st. Always worked for me.
Be patient when searching guys, I searched for about 1.5 years for the right deal and it was worth it. Recently picked up a 2017 F80 comp that was babied and had full ppf with 36k miles. Prices are also dropping, not a bad time to buy!
yo boss I just started my search for an F80 C so you mind if I ask you some questions? I honestly don’t expect to be in one for like a year, but since searching I haven’t found the right spec with the right price. I’m very specific with what I want Yas Marina, Comp car, 666m wheels, executive package and preferably a 2018 model year, DCT or manual really don’t matter to me and it can’t be more than 60k miles. But where did you end up finding your car, and did you negotiate price down at all? Also during your search did most of the cars you see have PPF? I’m very anal about cars paint so I’m hoping to find one with at least full frontal PPF.
@@TheRenegade. very specific spec, I searched all over the country on both CarGurus and marketplace. You gotta be patient but also quick once that spec comes available because F80s at least when I was searching were selling within a day or two of being posted. Most F80s I saw were not PPF and you have to make sure to do a pre purchase inspection and check carfax is a MUST. There was a few F80s that had been heavily modified or had major repairs done that were not being disclosed in the ads/postings. F80 is a highly sought after car but also a lot of people beat on them. I found mine on Facebook about 2 hours from me and it was an older gentleman (rich guy) that owned it and had title in hand he was asking $49k which is what I offered because that was a steal. My biggest tip is be open to not having an individual color because that’s what I wanted and I would only see one every few months. Comp pack was a must for me. 2017-2018 are almost identical so consider 2017 as it has the LCI taillights and CarPlay. Only difference is the headlights and seat badges. 2018s are the ones that sell super fast. But good luck on your search man!
I'm calling it now, been right about every damn one before they were a classic. The F8X will go down as one of the best modern M's and a future classic, especially the CS. I'm not really an M guy but do plan to own a late E46M. The weight and looks of the G8X absolutely killed it and solidified the F8X as one of the best.
I got my 2018 F80 M3 Competition 6MT with 77k miles for 52k out the door (with taxes) last Summer! Now had it for a year and adding FBO with CrankHub going MHD Stage 2+ 😅.
@@kevinsosa6502 mine was great..didn't not have one issue for 9+ months! Mine is a manual and a 2018 so I was a little worried about the CrankHub so I just got it done and went full Bolt On. Iv had BMWs for the last 20 years and never had any major issues with them. I do keep the service up to date and probably a bit more then bmw says. For me it’s the people that have them. they love to push them all the time cus they are such good handling machines and most BMWs have decent power which attracts a certain kind of driver. Probably the last chance to get a clean one. Prices are getting lower and soon most will be clapped out. My advice~ be ready for expensive maintenance if you don’t do your own work. Just the parts for brake jobs are almost a grand per axle.
HIGHLY UNUSUAL to see a young person speaking with proper grammar! Especially in the car community. Also, I have a 2016 manual f80. If you can afford the surprise maintenance and scheduled maintenance bills, then yes you can daily it. I only put about 6 thousand miles per year on mine.
You definitely have a synchronizer issue with your transmission. My 6 speed tranny in both my F80 and F30 335 shift like butter. You can get a rebuilt one from bmw but they will need your core. These transmissions unfortunately are known to run into since issues and so I changed the one in my 335 since I had that same issue in 2nd gear.
