Keep in mind, I am SO grateful to be in a position to purchase an F80 M3... I remember WISHING I could afford an E90 M3... now looking back after owning 5 BMW's so far I feel so much gratitude. But I wanted to help the community out and give my honest opinions with no brand deals holding me back, no partnerships holding me back and no ego holding me back. This is my honest opinion. I did forget to mention how amazing the brakes are on the F80 M3, lol. But that's it. Here's a video of all the owners talking about their experience - - th-cam.com/video/-F858XI-fyM/w-d-xo.html
I have a F80 with the competition pack and have extensive track time back to back with my car and an e90 and the F80 is superior in every single way other than exhaust note. It's not even close, the chassis is leagues better, the steering is more precise albight with less feel. The dampers keep the car flatter with less drama mid corner. The motor makes the e90's feel weak by comparison, the maximum grip is better, the at limit control is better, the car is lighter and easier to push into corners while being quicker on corner exit, the brakes are no comparison. The seats are better, the ergos are better, the interior is better, it looks better. One of the instructors there who owns the e90 drove my car and agreed that the F80 is a better track weapon in every way, his laptimes were immediately faster than his own car and it was the first time he ever drove an f80. The e90 is slightly more comfortable on the street, the suspension is just a hair softer and that S65 though, glorious sound, no comparison there, S55 sounds mediocre.
I’ll say this, every time I see an E9x M3 I drool. I will literally stop everything I’m doing and just watch it drive by. When owners see me and give a little blip of the throttle….HEAVEN!! Other than GT3’s, there aren’t many cars I feel that way about. You made a great decision.
Bro, your absolutely right, the E90 x is the best of the driving experience. The feel, the hydraulic steering. The power just amazing. Thanks bro, keep up the good work. Classic E90s is the ticket..!
Just sold my E90 M3 and got the F80. The only thing that i miss over the F80 is the engine sound. F80 is way ahead of it, stiffer chassis, power and technology way better in the F80. Driving the E90 daily takes a lot of effort, to hear the engine you need to be up in the rev range and break the law each time you drive it. The F80 platform is a much better daily car, easy to drive and did i mention the power and torque is simply mind-blowing over the E90!!
I had an e93 m3 (sold). I had to wake up early morning just to drive it. When im tired it was so hard to drive it … i go back to my Toyota when im tired. I had to drive far from my town just to push the e93 to its limits, it sounded so beautiful but its just tiring for me. I do miss it.
Speaking on track use the F8X is such a significant leap ahead from both a technological/hardware focused standpoint. With the same driver, on a racetrack (stock for stock or mod for mod) an F80 will mop the floor with an E90. End of story
@@14nightwolves yeah sure. I guess those enthusiasts from Germany doing track day for 300+ days a year at Nurburgring and spending 150k to 200K Euro on E9xs are real dumb ass. Team schirmer is overrated right?
To say the f8x has no soul is a big car guy oversight. I’ve had a e46 m3 and a f82 m4 and both have soul. Each car guy likes different things whether it be muscle cars, exotics or tuners. Sounds like the car was not for you but still has soul to someone else that likes the platform in a different way than you.
I'm sure many people will enjoy the F8X generation 100%. Like I said in this video, just sharing my personal opinion. It will vary with every single person out there.
Snowflake. He didn't feel "connected" to the car. Sounds like BS to me. He QUICKLY realized he couldn't "build" this car as cheaply as a E Series. Bottom line.
F80 holding value well. I’ve had 2 E92’s and currently have the f80. I personally think the f80 looks better its very modern and good for another 5 or 10 years. The lci 2 icon headlights are sharp. I have the mpe on the f80 if you leave the valves open and delete the artificial pops it doesn’t sound too bad. No doubt the v8 e92 sounds better but most will agree the e92 is probably the best sounding m to date. The thing is the f80 is an aggressive animal road presence is immense with the sharp headlights splitters and diffusers not to mention those arches its very muscular and that is the reason why i personally prefer it over the e92. I do think the competition package in the f80 makes a difference too. Especially with residuals.
Aren't you the guy that asked all of the noob questions in the F80 groups on Facebook, lol? You did zero research on the platform and bought a car you can't afford. Just be honest.
@@_M3NACE_ Steering feel and clutch feel are 10x better on the E46 than the E90. E90 also doesn't feel much faster (they have similar torque numbers). However, the E90 sounds great and the interior/seats in the E90 are far superior.
@@vegeta12379 that’s interesting, thank you for the reply. Having driven an e46 around the block I did like the steering but the E90’s lightness and feel I liked more myself but I’d love to get in it a second time and see how it feels again. Two awesome cars
I don't own an M3 but I love all of the E90s. It definitely aged well even for being 10+ years old, you can't go wrong with one especially an LCI. It's a masterpiece also the last of the N/A straight 6 and V8/V10. It's the end of an era in BMW history.
Sometimes, when you hear/watch too many opinions about something, you tend to parrot those opinions. “The steering is this, the sound of the engine is that, the community is blah….” I respect this guys opinions on the pros and cons but they do not represent how/what the car actually is. F80 M3 is a phenomenal iteration in that lineage. Background. BMW tech, automotive enthusiast, and I’ve owned vehicles from all types. From a Chevy c10’s, s4’s, jeeps, and e21 323i, e28, e46, etc
Have a couple m5’s under my belt. My favorite in terms of feel has been the e60. I just bought my first e92 and absolutely love it. Wish I’d of gotten one sooner. I absolutely love the raw feel the E series M’s have over the F’s. Each have its own personality. I love both ❤️
@@SpencerBerke I forgot the M2CS is still the S55 and the 1M is N54 which some don’t like the sound of either. But the Regular M2 with the N55 is a great car and fun to drive. Coming from a 1 series owner, you’ll love the dimensions
@@itsreverse4237 i race with my 1M on forza all the time in A class races its truly a beast, i use stock engine with just a intake mod its really fast regardless, i have a 335xi so i love n54.
Just to be clear....the e92 is not half the car the f80 is..the g80 is a few levels up..bordering on super car territory. This dude just appreciates naturally aspirated engines more. In reality..its not close to the f80 in terms of everything besides feedback
My favorite way to put both cars into perspective. E9x feels like a living breathing entity. F8x, while they’re fast and efficient, they feel like a robotic shell of the previous generations.
Thank you, Spencer. Honestly, I had been in a dilemma whether I should have bought an F80 and sold an E92. However, after sitting in an F80, I realised I actually did not like the feeling brought by a turbo engine. I had an E70 with twin-turbo, but I just felt the accelerating was supposed to be linear. That is the same feeling when I took a flight. It must be smooth. And BMW started their business by building aircraft engines. It is in their blood. Ps. the built of turbo enhancer was for solving the issue that aircraft engine was unable to absorb enough air when they were at high altitude.
I have a 2008 328i E93…it has 76k miles on it and bone stock. It was my father’s car and was meticulously maintained. I know it’s not an M car but man it’s so much fun to drive! The steering really does make you feel connected to the road and it’s plenty peppy around town, comfortable on road trips, and really is great as a daily driver. The hard convertible top is icing on the cake. 👊🏻
I agree to many points. I also liked my E92 more than the F80 Competition. Here is where I disagree: 1. The F80 FEELS more nimble than the E92 because the E92 is very nose heavy 2. The M-performance Akrapovic is excellent and the sound really satisfying. Not an S65 but very good still 3. On a track there is a huge difference. I was able to shave 2-3 seconds off with the F80 Competition on a 1.30 track compared to E92 4. The F80 is much easier to drive fast in my opinion In general the E92 felt more special but my engine died on 180 000 km, which was a very expensive repair. Had zero problems with the F80.
So true. No matter how expensive the exhaust system, the F80 still doesn't sound good, it just makes it louder that's all, but not better. The E9x M3, even with the most cheapest ghetto hacked up muffler deletes, it still sounds good
The more i dive into the enthusiast space and looking for cars that provide a raw, connected driver experience, the more i hear the name "Porsche" along with the right BMW.
You might feel differently up here in Colorado (5800' elevation). NA motors die up here so badly while turbo motors hardly skip a beat. You would be getting left in the dust by mom's in the X5's late for soccer practice. But at least you would feel "connected" to the experience! 😂
Sad you picked out one thing that you could say a negative thing about and comment it. Sorry for anything you’re going through, Mr Alberto! Feel free to look back on my channel to see the fact that I tracked more than 3 times. :)
I love my f82 m4 I agree they sound like crap but I ordered my equal Leanth midpipe and have lots more plans for the car my IMO it’s the best looking bmw ever made and think it just gets better looking over time the performance of it makes up for the sound! I’m keeping it!
To each it’s own, I really like your point of view and where your coming from, for me personally the F80 is everything I could ask for, every time I drive the car, it feels like the first time I’ve driven it, just absolutely in love and can’t imagine of selling it. Yes the exhaust definitely is the biggest buzz kill but surprisingly, I don’t really care that much about it, I got BM3 on my car and have some light burbles on it, and I am totally happy with it, at the end of the day, I don’t see how you can go wrong with either car lol
f80 owner and I approve this message! The f80 is dope and after having it for a while I love the car and if I wanna hit the track id rather take my brainrattling e46 :) IDK about "soul less" the car is definitely an enthusiast car and has a wild character. The 2 cars are just completely different and were designed with different priorities in mind + currently at two completely different price points which would also play into the built vs bought mentality... IMO a e9x 100% maxed out would cost abt the same as a f8x 100% maxed out
Lol. I own a Yas 6 speed comp. So let’s see….it weighs less, it has more power, more grip, a better power band It’s arguably the most reliable m car ever made. The “no soul” comment is pretty funny as well. The turbo sounds, the wastegate/exhaust noises on cold start or after WOT letting off at 3k rpm, the wide ass…… The exhaust is trash, but a competition with the flaps open helps “Can’t use the power”. I get mine sideways on the work commute daily, first gear with good tires that are at temp basically dead hook. The chassis/diff software in the competition is ace at higher speeds on corner exit. I will say, I owned a non comp before, and the diff programming was a bit more twitchy. “Crank hub issue” what’s the point of buying a f80 if it’s not for the 6 speed? 6 speeds have no issues. The steering is probably the best electronic rack Iv felt, but it could be better. I owned a auto-x prepped gr STI, I currently own a lancer evo 2 with full suspension/sways ect. My f80 is the real deal. If you want a “raw” car to “race” build a proper car.
Both 6 speed and 7 speed dct have the crank hub issue but the 7 speed dct is more aggressive so it's easier in a 7 speed to spin the crank hub unless you go from 6 to 1st in a Manual. I agree stock cars are meant to please a lot of people but building upon that stock car pleases you more specifically and can get it to feel like you want
Iv had hugely powerfull cars including a 450 bhp 180sx and a 658 bhp r32 gtr. I then bought an e46 m3. I'm now on my 7th year of e92 m3 ownership over 2 cars. The e92 m3 is quite possibly one of the greatest cars ever made. It's just such an amazing car. Everything about it. And the sound, feel, throttle response and high revs just makes it totally unique and exotic feeling. And even tho, they're are much faster cars out there, the e92 is still perfectly fast enough for any lunatic. Its got it all.
My experience was similar. I wanted to love my old F80 because it looked so good, was fast and handled great but never brought me the enjoyment and experience that my E92 does 🤟
Loved the video. I felt the same way from the 2014 C63 to the new ones. That 6.2 V8 sounds utterly incredible. The biturbo 4.0 V8 just doesn't have anything on it.
I currently have the e92 as my daily driver and having grown up learning to drive on BMWs, I must say the e92 steering is on point if you are a driver that wants to feel connected to the car. Nice and HEAVY. It’s response and feel is raw, kinda annoying driving in an area with bumpy roads as you feel everything but at least you know exactly what’s happening underneath you. The biggest let down on the e92 is it’s speed it’s just not as quick as the f8x generation 😂😂.
As a owner for both E90(328) and F80, I would agree anyone can have their preference. There is only one thing that I do not like. That ridiculous huge red X on the gorgeous M3 from the cover page.
Your opinion is honest, but confusing at the same time. Why buy a sport car then say, it’s too powerful? Then on Handling, you say it’s To responsive & You want it to be more challenging. I thought you was gonna say something about mechanical issues play you're just being picky. Just buy a Honda & call it a day
The one edge the f80 has is looks IMO. Looks sharper and has great lines, but I think the v8 is far better. I’m looking at an e92 rn but I can’t justify it with all the potential maintenance compared to other cars. Maybe as a second car, e92 is the way to go
i went from e90 335i to a f30 328i and i couldn’t agree more about the driving experience difference and size difference. E90 is just such a better community and build with so much better quality and attention
Out of all the M cars I’ve owned, (f8x, e36, 1m, e92) my e92 has been my favorite and most enjoyable. There’s something about the usable power that the s65 offers. True momentum car
I had 3 F8x including an M4CS during 2015 through 2020, now I’m a year into a 2012 M3 comp with MPE and Eventuri plenum and I’m so happy. The character and soul is in another league.
E9x was considered hideous early in its release. It’s part of the hated Bangle era. It’s only loved now Bcs it’s so cheap and every broke ricer can buy one
M Performance Ricers aren't buying an E9x M3 they opt for the 8-10k 335i. The E92s M3s I see are usually well taken care of and stock looking for the most part.
Not surprising, this was exactly my feeling when I went from an E90 to an F32. I always wondered if the M car would have made much difference, but these are simply fundamental differences between the E and F 3er platforms. I special ordered my F32 with everything I wanted including the track handling package. I was initially impressed with how much power the N55 would put down with little effort and how luxurious and refined everything felt compared to the the E90. I quickly realize that was the whole problem with the car. It was so nice I was bored out of my mind no matter how much I tried to enjoy it. I never got used to the digital steering either. I also realized at that point that this evolution was here to stay, for good or bad, and the same could be said for most modern cars. A big part of the reason the BMWs in my garage today range from model years '89 to '02 and I have no intention of buying a new BMW (outside of an M2, maybe).
I had an E90 335i and I must say my M2c completely stock, chassis wise feels leagues better The 335 had bilstein coilovers and a stage 1 tune but the chassis was way less stiff imo, get the M2c you won’t regret it! Interior space imo is pretty similar, the dials are even similar in configuration (the smaller 2 dials vs the 2+2 small dials in F30)
F80 was the only car I was happiest the day I was bought it and as equally satisfied the day I sold it after a year of new car ownership. Was totally numb, sound was loud at start up, but the tone was not inviting, the synthetic interior noise was unnatural at best. Had 0 connection with the car. My e90 m3 I miss every day but I almost forget I owned a f80.
Have owned 2 e90 M3 and an F80...couldnt agree more. Tech was nice in the F80 and it was fast as hell, but aside from the creature comforts and lower seating position, it was lifeless. Buying my 3rd e90 as we speak...prices are going to pop in the next 1-2 years for lower mileage examples - especially manual strippers.
We're on the same page! I think that the market is gonna keep climbing too. Crazy to see but it's understandable because of how good these E9X's really are.
Thanks for your opinion. Though after initially purchasing one I'd have to say it's a pretty awesome car. It's fast, DCT shifts are lightening quick, it pulls like a freight train, wants to kill me when traction control is off (good), interior is nice, handling is awesome and puts a smile on my face everyday. I'm coming from a built golf r which was super fun but m3 is a different kind of fun in a good way. If you're like me and new to the bmw chassis the f80 is pretty awesome. It's hard to beat compared to other chassis (sedan).
Interesting direction if the purpose is truly a track car. On race weekends I typically see 2 types of BMW teams. Those who have sold their e90/92 race cars and focused on the e46, and those that have not yet figured that out.
The hydraulic steering set up , suspension, transmission, and v8 combo on the e9x m3 is sublime. I think bmw used some old school parts that make the driving experience more connected. The steering alone could arguably be one of best ever produced.
What a joke. The f80 is better for straight line racing because it has too much power? That makes no sense, the f80 chassis is far more superior than an e9x. I'm willing to bet you don't even get close to your f80 time at Buttonwillow in your e9x.
Very true. The m4 stage 2 will keep you on your toes for sure! I’ve owned supercharged m3 and now m4. At first I wasn’t sure about the m4 but now I like it. It mobs!
Lol.. you can even break the 2 min barrier even with Miata.. 2min barrier is not only car, its the driver, the fraffic, and the seat time.. i will let you drive my 900HP GTR and see if you can break the 2 mins barrier.
I’m with you with the sound, but for me the best platform is E46 M3. The perfect combo would the S65 swap and lightweight. I feel that E9X steering still numb compared to older M cars. I really don’t car this fast the car is. I just need to feel fast inside the car. The sound, the vibration, chassis that requires you to know how to drive make up for that feel.
I used to be all about that "raw" driving experience but in all honesty, I'm sick of it. I love how the F80/F82 is really comfortable and how it can rip. The E92/E90 M3 its no as comfortable, it's dated and it's kinda slow. Not everyone is into power but to each their own. I daily an 09 Civic that is really bare bones, so when I drive on the weekend I would prefer the F80/F82. I currently have a 435i, so little brother.
As an owner's of E93 and F80 Comp I had a different point of view of the comparison between the two cars. First of V8 NA to inline with twin turbos of course the V8 sounds much better to inline 6 second I'm not a fan of EPS steering system design you lose the connection and not much feedback's when driving. The industry is moving away from the tradition V8 engines and most MFG is on the EPS, no one is offering the hydraulic version any longer. With that there is not much choices to choose from except Porsche EPS design is one of the best on the market. I plan to keep the E93 DCT for as long as I can and F80 comp 6MT as well and don't like the G8X series front end.
F13M6 is probably too much power for most people but its so amazing being able to light up the tires like nothing else... ( Stock ) so its controlled and I enjoy the steering feel
I have a 2018 manual F82 w/competition package, never owned an E9X. Maybe I should one day. But a few observations. I LOVE my M4 and definitely have a connection. I've tracked it 5 times over a year of ownership, and driven about 4K total on the street. I don't want a loud car, but if I want to hear her, I just roll down the windows and she sounds amazing in either of the sport modes. She's an easy daily driver and was track ready day one. I've only upgraded brake pads and fluid. On track in +100 degree weather, pushing her super hard, the temp gauge doesn't even move - its crazy. You can beat on these things. And I would also note in a recent track day I was able to hang in there with a modified e90 (brake, tires, coilover upgrades) driven by an experienced track driver. I know because we talked after and he was shocked I could stay on his tail being only my 4th track day. I'm pretty sure it was mostly the F82.
The stuff you're talking about at 10:00 about the car feeling like an experience, if you want that in a modern BMW the F87 M2C is your best bet. Even though its an S55 still that thing with its small wheel base and proper suspension setup and a manual transmission - it just feels like an old school BMW to drive.
A lot of people are selling these newer BMWs after few years with no emotional bond created. Lexus F for example very hard to sell after some time, ownership really nice and you sell it with some regrets...
Looking at a 2018 F80 M3 or a base 2021 G80 M3, do you know if the G80 has the same feels as the F80? I want an experience when I drive bc I work from home so I don't drive often.
Nice comparison Spencer... I owned a E93 M3 and loved it... it was stock but a beast.... soon i want the M4 Cabriolet Comp just waiting for the prices to come down on a 2018+ variant.... i will soon be able to compare the 2 cars... I dont track it, just use it for work, mostly freeway driving... so i think the M4 will be fine for me...
I just bought my 18 F80. With 74k miles on it. I don’t track the car . I’ve always loved the looks of it i regret not getting the Manual ,the steering yes is soft . Had the previous platforms of M’s not the E90M. Tried to find one but they all been riced. I use it as a daily driver. Sure is alot of power I tried to drive it in efficient mode . But I love it. Thx for the videos bruh.
I had a 2008 active auto weeks supercharged m3 e92 for 5 years and 5 track days. Also 55k miles. 6mt. It sounded great and I loved it. I have an m4 stage 2 now with ps4s and I have no problem putting the power down. It handles way better than the e92. It also has awesome torque. My m3 with supercharger still lacked torque. 527/350 wheel. M4 stage 2 525/560 wheel. Seating position way better than e92. M4 is way more reliable than e92. I fixed so much on the e92.
I’m on my second F80 and have driven e92 comp mt and for track only I would go with the e92. For daily the f80 makes more sense. The thing I hated most about the e92 was the tiny ass gas tank. It just drank gas and had a small tank I lived at the gas station.
So I own a 2016 F80 m3 but with a 6spd. Otherwise it’s the same spec as Spencer’s (mine is tanzanite blue w/ silver stone grey interior). I test drove the dct and the manual is just simply more fun, especially in the m3 vs the m4. On the m4 I believe the dct feels more at home because it’s slightly twitchier. I use to have an e46 m3, which I’ll be buying another one sometime in the future as my designated track car. Built n/a s54 and just have a nasty suspension setup
I almost bought a e90 m3 then I test drove a e92 335i bought the 335, the lack of torque in the e90 just didn’t cut it. now fast forward to now I’ve had my f80 for 2 years I’m absolutely in love, the car is basically a gangster and a gentleman IMO you baled too soon…. the stock sus definitely feels floaty a minor drop corrects that, comfort steering is a tad to touchy but sports + feels much better. Tuned the car can hang with the best of them even 600cc bikes can get it too..The car is actually more Rigid than the e9x chassis by a lot there is a vid on YT about it. You’re just a e9x guy bro lol, I low key still want a e90 but I wouldn’t get rid of my f80 for one.
You got lucky because there’s currently a chip shortage not allowing new car production. If you didn’t sell during this time you would’ve literally lost your ass so your point of it have a good resale value, everything right now has good resale value. Which makes it just a shit car.
I used to work for BMW as a VIP loaner driver. When ever i drove the F8Xs you just feel marshmallows with the steering, it was so boring and didn't make me feel safe when driving it on the highway. I love the Early/Mid 2000s BMWs. You can feel the connection to any of those vehicles, especially with the first gen X1 and the second gen. You can tell when BMW stopped caring about enthusiasts opinion.
I’m looking at 2008 M3 e92 MT 115k for 30-35k probably landing on 33k is that a decent deal? It was also just supercharged? Bearings all that have been done. Anyone? I’ve never owned a BMW before, but the test drive was fun and I want it lol. Also can I expect it to hold its value over time? I get nervous about that and deferred maintenance especially when you see KBB showing the value for these cars at 16k that makes me Erie because lenders don’t like to lend over book values on used vehicles especially private part so you have to mostly find cash buyers willing to fork over the doe and not low ball you? I just don’t want to make a mistake it’s a super clean car, white with carbon roof exactly what I’m wanting, but is it the right move?
My boss traded his M2 CS for an F80....He took the F80 back within 2 days. No joke....Keep up the amazing work and attitude, Spencer!!! You deserve and will obtain more subs soon!
Here's a video of all the owners talking about their experience - - th-cam.com/video/-F858XI-fyM/w-d-xo.html
how do you feel about the e46
All that money wasted lol
Respect. Totally made sense. Thanks for the video.
F80>E92
Even somewhat famous racers agree

"the F8X is very bought not built" says the guy who bought a built car, and has a shop put on double sided tape mods for him. Come on, man.
Hahahahahahahah
i have an M3 comp (f80) and absolutely love it...
Bro, I created marketing that affiliates.
Summary: "I like V8's and turbo cars are too much work for me to track."

E92 for me...not even a thought is given to the f80 or g80
You single turbo these F80s and put an equal length exhaust on its on of the best sounding inline 6s, comparable to a B58
@S55M3 Not even close, the b58 sounds like wet farts aswell. After e9x the bmws sound shit.
Put the AKRAPOVIC Evo exhaust and the sound is absolutely awesome...The F80 is no doubt one of the best cars to drive
Yeaaaaa none of these replies dare to address the original comment beyond opinion.

same same same same!
Your very honest guy 👍
👍
I had an e93 m3 (sold). I had to wake up early morning just to drive it. When im tired it was so hard to drive it … i go back to my Toyota when im tired. I had to drive far from my town just to push the e93 to its limits, it sounded so beautiful but its just tiring for me. I do miss it.
Speaking on track use the F8X is such a significant leap ahead from both a technological/hardware focused standpoint. With the same driver, on a racetrack (stock for stock or mod for mod) an F80 will mop the floor with an E90. End of story
Very funny. Then why there are so many people ditching their Porches and F8xs to E9x at Nurburgring
@@m3erious435 you know i would provide a logical reply to this comment but there's no point in arguing with stupidity 😂
Agreed, love the E92’s and the V8 soundtrack is intoxicating but aside from that the F80 wins in every aspect. My opinion of course
@@m3erious435 Yeah because swapping to heavier, less powerful and less reliable cars for track use makes total sense
Exactly. I personally love my f82. I’ve driven e9x. Sounds great. I need an e46 m3 one day.
I'm sure many people will enjoy the F8X generation 100%. Like I said in this video, just sharing my personal opinion. It will vary with every single person out there.
I had an f82 M4 for 2 years and agree it has no soul. Probably the dullest "fast" car I've ever owned.
An e92 M3 competition package looks amazing and clean.
Agree. The f80 gets so much hate online it’s ridiculous. The car is absolutely great on the track.
Im only 18, i want bmw m3 f80 so badly bro !
Aren't you the guy that asked all of the noob questions in the F80 groups on Facebook, lol? You did zero research on the platform and bought a car you can't afford. Just be honest.
Lol he sounds like when I sold my E90 for E46
What do you like more about the E46?
@@_M3NACE_ Steering feel and clutch feel are 10x better on the E46 than the E90. E90 also doesn't feel much faster (they have similar torque numbers). However, the E90 sounds great and the interior/seats in the E90 are far superior.
E90 is better than e46
@@Wildman2291 reasons why in your opinion? Also, have you owned either?
@@vegeta12379 that’s interesting, thank you for the reply. Having driven an e46 around the block I did like the steering but the E90’s lightness and feel I liked more myself but I’d love to get in it a second time and see how it feels again. Two awesome cars
I don't own an M3 but I love all of the E90s. It definitely aged well even for being 10+ years old, you can't go wrong with one especially an LCI. It's a masterpiece also the last of the N/A straight 6 and V8/V10. It's the end of an era in BMW history.
It's all good do what you love. I personally love the f8x platform. Driven the e92 m3 love the sound but prefer the f82 for my taste.
I love to hear it! Glad everybody can enjoy BMW’s in any kind of way.
9:18 "E9x is a younger crowd, F80 is professional, grown, mature adult"
GREAT analogy. I never thought about it like that
I find it reverse. F80 is for the younger crowd. E90 is for the raw and hardcore conventional natural aspirated v8 big boys.
Have to say I respect your opinion, this world would be boring if everyone had the same taste.
Totally agree!
The sound of the E90/92 M3 is so exotic with exhaust mod or a nice exhaust set up.
Have a couple m5’s under my belt. My favorite in terms of feel has been the e60. I just bought my first e92 and absolutely love it. Wish I’d of gotten one sooner. I absolutely love the raw feel the E series M’s have over the F’s. Each have its own personality. I love both ❤️
You basically bought your old M5 except with 2 less cylinders and 2 less doors 🤘
Haha about spot on.
Dude you really need to try a F87 M2 manual. So raw and old school feeling, really connected chassis and steering.
If you want small size, great in corners, and something that’ll hold value well i think you’ll love a BMW 1M or an M2/M2CS
I have yet to drive either. I'd love to one day soon!
I agree the n55 m2 is a better drive.. the m2 comp is kind of the same as the f80 with less special bits.
@@pascalimbos886 and sounds better too in my opinion
Love the part where you said you felt special about driving and when you sit in the E9x. That's when you know you found the right car
Totally, that's what gets me every time.
Here is where I disagree:
1. The F80 FEELS more nimble than the E92 because the E92 is very nose heavy
2. The M-performance Akrapovic is excellent and the sound really satisfying. Not an S65 but very good still
3. On a track there is a huge difference. I was able to shave 2-3 seconds off with the F80 Competition on a 1.30 track compared to E92
4. The F80 is much easier to drive fast in my opinion
In general the E92 felt more special but my engine died on 180 000 km, which was a very expensive repair. Had zero problems with the F80.
5:05 There is actually a solution for the f8x stock sound and that is the valvetronic equal length exhaust.Sounds sooo much better
I died reading the last bit 😂😂
^Same 😂
Sounds like a whopper that needs a slow car.
I take it you’re seeking views! I love my f80 !
"my background is motorsports"... tracked 3 times.
"lap times"
Sad you picked out one thing that you could say a negative thing about and comment it. Sorry for anything you’re going through, Mr Alberto! Feel free to look back on my channel to see the fact that I tracked more than 3 times. :)
@@fafafooey8776 I don’t welcome negativity here. Sending you love and support.
Your comment was dumb. Wasn’t funny at all. Stop looking for attention on TH-cam and call your mother why don’t you?
Lmao best comment
I love my f82 m4 I agree they sound like crap but I ordered my equal Leanth midpipe and have lots more plans for the car my IMO it’s the best looking bmw ever made and think it just gets better looking over time the performance of it makes up for the sound! I’m keeping it!
Switching the cars, is like moving out of the Penthouse and you now go live in the basement apartment.
IMO a e9x 100% maxed out would cost abt the same as a f8x 100% maxed out
Thanks for sharing this, I appreciate that!!!
I'm curious which E46 do you own?
Lol. I own a Yas 6 speed comp. So let’s see….it weighs less, it has more power, more grip, a better power band
It’s arguably the most reliable m car ever made. The “no soul” comment is pretty funny as well. The turbo sounds, the wastegate/exhaust noises on cold start or after WOT letting off at 3k rpm, the wide ass……
The exhaust is trash, but a competition with the flaps open helps
“Can’t use the power”.
Have comp? Dct?
My experience was similar. I wanted to love my old F80 because it looked so good, was fast and handled great but never brought me the enjoyment and experience that my E92 does 🤟
Totally agree with you!
i still love my E92 M3 more than my M4 GTS lol😂😵💫
im glad to hear that man honestly.
GTS? 😮
@@stophatingmichael6767 yes lmao
Wow. I guess I won't be getting a M4 GTS anymore. Lmao they are rare
Lolll, cant wait to grab the m4 CSL g82
Loved the video. I felt the same way from the 2014 C63 to the new ones. That 6.2 V8 sounds utterly incredible. The biturbo 4.0 V8 just doesn't have anything on it.
You kept the 2014? Or did you ever upgrade
Lack of torque. Give it turbo or supercharger
Maybe as a second car, e92 is the way to go
F80 owner and I’ll never change to any other M cars simply because it’s too sexy 😊
I feel like F80 haters are people who cant truly afford them comfortably since you keep going back to he "9-5, business man" comment.
i went from e90 335i to a f30 328i and i couldn’t agree more about the driving experience difference and size difference. E90 is just such a better community and build with so much better quality and attention
The power/traction problem of modern M was exactly the reason for me to order an xDrive G80. These cars are just getting “too fast”
I mean aside from top fuel dragsters and a couple street outlaws… who the hell expects to hear their car behind a NASCAR?!?!?
Out of all the M cars I’ve owned, (f8x, e36, 1m, e92) my e92 has been my favorite and most enjoyable. There’s something about the usable power that the s65 offers. True momentum car
I couldn't agree more.
How was the 1m compared to the E92 M3? 1M should have plenty of useable torque. Right?
@@stophatingmichael6767 yes the n54 has plenty of torque and can easily add more w mods, tune, etc.
I had 3 F8x including an M4CS during 2015 through 2020, now I’m a year into a 2012 M3 comp with MPE and Eventuri plenum and I’m so happy. The character and soul is in another league.
Someone that has never drove a e9x will never understand the character and the timeless look
I had an E90 335i and I must say my M2c completely stock, chassis wise feels leagues better
The 335 had bilstein coilovers and a stage 1 tune but the chassis was way less stiff imo, get the M2c you won’t regret it!
I just know e90 can’t keep up with f8x’s
They can barely keep up With a clapped 350z
But but but, the gas mileage is horrendous lol. Like racers or enthusiasts cars about that right?
man the steering in the f87 M2 is amazing, I wondering why the M3-4 is not great.
Just flash the m3 cs steering calibration and never look back..
Everyone has their own tastes, I personally love how the F80 looks and I’m hoping I can buy one soon
Interesting direction if the purpose is truly a track car. On race weekends I typically see 2 types of BMW teams. Those who have sold their e90/92 race cars and focused on the e46, and those that have not yet figured that out.
These are facts.
The hydraulic steering set up , suspension, transmission, and v8 combo on the e9x m3 is sublime. I think bmw used some old school parts that make the driving experience more connected. The steering alone could arguably be one of best ever produced.
Sport Plus mode should have addressed your steering feel issue. While the crank hub issue is a definite concern I love my F80.
Yeah, I ran Sport+ and normal modes. Both felt kinda strange to me, didn't give me enough back through the wheel. Felt legit on the street though!
It mobs!
I love this comment. Bring it on. I'll get back to you with my times I run at Buttonwillow soon.
@@SpencerBerke Can't wait to see your laptimes with the new e90 - one thing is for sure, you'll be having more fun doing it in the e90 m3!
Lol.. you can even break the 2 min barrier even with Miata..
I feel that E9X steering still
numb compared to older M cars. I really don’t car this fast the car is. I just need to feel fast inside the car. The sound, the vibration, chassis that requires you to know how to drive make up for that feel.
you should have kept both tbh
I miss bro posting. Spencer is one of the reasons I got into BMWs
Respect the point of view, but these points are all based on nostalgia
F13M6 is probably too much power for most people but its so amazing being able to light up the tires like nothing else... ( Stock ) so its controlled and I enjoy the steering feel
My M6 is currently stage 2 and i love it !
You had every spec on your f80 except the most important one…. The comp package, really transform the driving feel imo.
First time that I heard someone saying an F80 sounds bad, lol.
I know right
Single turbo f8x sound great ! Don’t sleep
Looking at a 2018 F80 M3 or a base 2021 G80 M3, do you know if the G80 has the same feels as the F80? I want an experience when I drive bc I work from home so I don't drive often.
When fixing the crank hub issue did you swap the stock one with a aftermarket one and if so what brand ?
I was thinking about getting an F80 M3 but now I think I will stick with my E93 M3 lol
Same
Nice comparison Spencer...
Thanks for watching!! Good luck with your next purchase.
Cool to see my picture of Sean’s car in the video 👍🏻
So I own a 2016 F80 m3 but with a 6spd. Otherwise it’s the same spec as Spencer’s (mine is tanzanite blue w/ silver stone grey interior). I test drove the dct and the manual is just simply more fun, especially in the m3 vs the m4. On the m4 I believe the dct feels more at home because it’s slightly twitchier. I use to have an e46 m3, which I’ll be buying another one sometime in the future as my designated track car. Built n/a s54 and just have a nasty suspension setup
Hi Spencer! Was great seeing you and Mike last weekend! So happy for you guys it takes a lot of courage to come out like that! 😊
The global chip shortage is driving used cars up. My 2019 E63 has gone up 5-8k in 6 months since I bought it. Crazy.
Why my e90 has That gas smell EveryTIME after I drive and park in my garage? Is that a e9x issue?
A lot contradicts what you said in a previous video.
BMW M cars before the F8X platform and basically any Porsche GT car...
Driven an 718 GT4 once, it's crazy... E90 M3 absolute goal
Who is this guy....what a joke 😂The F80 is an absolute beast...Haters will hate
So I would be interested in your opinion on the G80 xdrive and test drive.
Single exit exhaust and big turbo build on f80 is mental😍
