Interesting question, in summary, both berberine and fiber can contribute to better glucose metabolism. While berberine directly affects insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake thru a critical enzyme AMPK, fiber helps regulate blood sugar levels by slowing down digestion and promoting satiety. Incorporating both into one's diet may offer synergistic benefits.

i think for keeping the blood sugar low and to lose some weight, the fiber is a good idea to combine it with a protein shake. if it is the right fiber mixture, it gives you an instant feeling of satiety that not every protein shake does when taken without fiber.

Good info. BUT the fiber product promoted is psyllium powder. Psyllium slows absorption but it is not a prebiotic. There is no fermentation. This is good if you have sibo but it will not give the prebiotic benefits which were included in the comparison. Other sources such as inulin would be the way to go for that.

My husband has been a diagnosed diabetic since 1991. His blood sugars were controlled until 2021 when he got a bacterial infection that almost killed him. He has been unable to control his blood sugar since then even on the keto diet. Berberine in high doses and dihydroberberine in high doses did not stabilize his blood sugar. If he falls off the keto wagon (because we travel a lot and he gives into temptation to have a piece of toast!), his blood sugar skyrockets. Once he has regained his keto "legs" again, he still experiences spiking blood sugar levels. Fiber seems to be more effective for him than any form of berberine but fiber is not enough for his problem. He is now taking 750 XR Metformin 3 times a day. I recently purchased Curalin in the hopes this will help his problem.

I haven't been diagnosed for prediabetes but because I have some symptoms like extreme tiredness, some blurry eyes and hungry all the time, I thought I might be hypoglycemic so I got a two week CGM for two weeks, surprise! I found my blood sugar was running over 100 to maybe 140 all during the day, fasting only about 104-110 and still having the symptoms. I did the blood tests and my fasting was 103 and A1c 5.5, she said it's fine. But I still have the symptoms and I can tell its when I have elevated numbers even though they are not very high. I guess I'm asking is this normal? I am now going to start with the fiber, I am a plant based vegan ( had changed to white rice (the family prefers and I have been doing less tofu and beans) anyway I have had several bladder infections in the last 6 months and took several antibiotics to clear them up, fingers crossed that is over. After seeing this video from the good Dr. Dave I think fiber is the way to go (no pun intended but pretty funny). Thanks again.

With what medicines does fiber intake interfere? I've heard it can and so I try to time my fiber intake to 2 hours before or after taking my medicine. However, I have to take my medicine with food, so taking the fiber before breakfast and supper is out of the question -- if it interferes. I don't know if it does or not, so I go on the assumption that it does and try to time my fiber intake before lunch and later in the evening, often missing doses because of what's going on at those times.

Hi. Joey here from Adelaide South Australia. Great info. I take 2 NUZENA 1200mg Berberine per day and it's been the BEST for me to date as a Type2 diabetic. The fibre you suggest has an interesting WARNING: Consuming this product can expose you to chemicals including LEAD which is known to the State of California to cause cancer.....Any comments please. Don't make negative assumptions about people (they're lazy, obese, or sedentary, and want to take pills instead of getting more exercise). Though in the minority, there's lean, active people who are diabetic or prediabetic because they have genetic insufficiencies. There's something wrong with their liver or pancreas. Those people are the part of the small group who have elevated blood sugar but not insulin resistance.
