    Good Day Sir, Yes I can confirm that the Ruger American works very well out of the box..in 308 as well.

    Thanks for taking the time to do this. The ruger American and savage axis stocks are sad. The Magpul replacement helps a lot and has an internal chassy. Makes it easy for the non gun smiths.

    I have a Savage .223 with a barrel that looks like it's out of the stone age that shoots easily 1/2 MOA at 100 with 69 SMK over 24 H335. Easity busts clay pigeons at 400 meters. That barrel is is ugly as original sin but it shoots! Man...do I ever wish that thing would single feed. It does not! I'll most likley sell it and get a short action Rem 700 I have barrelled up to SINGLE feed and shoot just as well. Thanks for bringing us along!

      Dear Sir - never sell a good shooting rifle! Just save up to purchase a second one. Thanks........

      I have found that the Savage will single feed, but you must work the action swiftly

    My 7-08 also liked the 150 grain bullets better then the 168's. It was a definite notice of the group shrink as I went to 150 grain bullets over the 168, and the 139 Hornady SST box ammo, it shoots those in a clover leaf pattern. I run the 6.5 Staball powder.

    I don't know but I think doing seating depth is uselless unless you want to single feed but then that defeats the purpose of a HUNTING rifle with a magazine ? It looks like the testing here should be done at magazine length? I don't know the options are wild and plenty, is a rabbit hole! 🙂 Thank you for another great vid Sr.

      Dear Sir - I only hunt with single shot rifles - even if they are built as repeaters. Thanks.............

    • @travisteuton1408
      @travisteuton1408 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that all that load work was useless. Everything should have been done at max coal. That rifle wasn't designed for anything else. Plus no one other than you would take a bolt action rifle with only one bullet. Geez....

    • @quarterminutemagnums
      @quarterminutemagnums  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dear Sir - The majority of rifles we build are single shot; knowledgeable, highly skilled, highly trained shooters rarely need, or want to fire, more than one shot. True professionals see the need for a second shot as failure.
      Thanks.............. @@travisteuton1408

      @@quarterminutemagnums Failure yes. But ethical hunters always have quick follow-up shots. Bullets required travel time, animals are rarely still for very long, they come out in a less than ideal spots, and things just happen. Or what about hogs, when you need 4 or 5 shots because there are 15 of them. I don't know anyone who has hunted for very long that hasn't had something similar happen. Most shooters get excited with a huge bull or whitetail is in the scope. You may disagree but I bet the hunter takes ammo that will fill up that magazine and if he doesn't, then shame on him.

      I like big magazines for big heards of 2 legged creature's my dad is one of them nurds with single shots with left hand ports and big fat barrels he handed me one and when I took it the end of the barrel almost hit the ground I wasn't expecting it to be so heavy what a nurd I'm surprised you guys don't walk around with pocket protectors and white lab coats..

    This is very interesting. The cheesy stocks are awful and i believe you about bedding that factory unit. Still the accuracy potential is surprising barring the stock issue.

    NDont be bitter, grin and bear.
    it. Your barrel work reminded me of a question Id love to hear your response to. I recently bought a Ruger
    10 / 22 that because the price Im sure came with no barrel crown. It still is amszingly accurate for what it is and cost
    My question is. what amount does proper crown effect accuracy and or precision? Thanks

      Dear Sir - a hole through the heart is a hole through the heart and any bullet will work with perfect placement. But, do not ask a Berger VLD to do the work of a Nosler Partition. The only "way around" this equation is to use heavy, 300g, .338 bullets in big cases going fast. Success through overwhelming force. Thanks.......
