Honestly it’s a really good system if you build towards it. Getting all the perks needed to build the best stuff, finding all the best traders, properly defending places, making sure your settlers are properly geared up, building up settlements with both necessities and luxuries. That right there is its own whole play through, and a play through that will lead you all across the map. Also in doing this style of play you will fully build up stockpiles of caps, food, water, ammo, meds, etc. all because you decided to invest into a non essential mechanic.

I’m playing through New Vegas now and it makes me miss Fallout 4’s mechanics. Almost every single mechanic in FO4 that I can think of is better. Actually interacting with companions, building my own weapons and power armor, building settlements, hauling a 5lb alarm clock back to my settlement because I desperately want the small amount of radium it contains, and a persuasion mechanic that does not definitively tell you whether or not you will pass or fail. New Vegas definitely has the better story and RPG element, but Fallout 4 definitely wins on pure mechanics. Also, in New Vegas I pissed off the Legion early on and now every day or so I’ll be randomly walking through the wasteland, only to see a squad of Legion assassins sprinting in my direction like fuckin Usain Bolt, preparing to give me an extremely difficult fight that I cannot avoid, *will* cost me significant resources and probably will take a few quick loads. I’ve killed 5 of these squads and they just keep coming, who tf greenlit this mechanic I just want to talk.
The Caesar has marked you for death, and the Legion obeys! Ready yourself for battle. Also, the only way to get rid of them is to gain reputation with Caesar's Legion. A spoiler, but one that should comfort you, is that when you reach the Tops, your negative reputation is forgiven and the assassins go away. If you're still having trouble, go to Novac and recruit Boone, he will singlehandedly carry you throughout the entire rest of the playthrough. I don't think they're that much of a problem, if you're well equipped they basically turn into respawning loot pinatas. The Fallout Wiki I believe has a map of their spawn locations, it may interest you to look that up. They only spawn in set locations, so if you just avoid their spawn points they can't even shoot at you, and you can even ambush them with long range weapons like the Ratslayer or Gobi Campaign Rifle.
@@officialromanhours yea the only thing carrying me is I have boon and the EDE robot. I’m on hardcore tho, some they carry me just because they draw the fire away and less because of the damage they do. I swapped Boone for Rex once and had to see him get eviscerated by the Legion over and over again.
"Actually interacting with the companions." I don't understand this one, I think the companions in New Vegas are both better written and have better interactivity with the courier compared to fallout 4. "The persuasion mechanic that does not tell you if you will succeed or not." I guess this one depends more on personal preference, but I hate Fallout 3-4 persuasion. I invested in speech. Why should I be able to fail something when my whole character is built around it and at the same time be able to succeed at it by just reloading a save a few times? I agree with everything else though, Fallout 4 really makes you feel like you're using the resources and random scrap around you, like you're an actual improvising craftsman in a world where there's plenty of useless stuff that can be turned into stuff useful to you.
Fallout 4 survival is an incredibly well crafted challenge. Not being able to quick save in a game full of crashes and menu softlocks. An arduous task indeed. Exhilarating Bethesda game design at its finest
I don't understand why we have to be at war about which game was better. Fallout NV obviously has the best writing of any 3d fallout, but the fact it was made on the same engine as fallout 3 means that it's clunky and awkward to play at times. Fallout 4's story has virtually no rpg elements to it and a story that doesn't make a ton of sense, but the improvements to combat, crafting, settlement building, and (my opinion) some great companions whose quests you get attached to do make it feel like the developers cared about Fallout and made an experience different from the previous games. Both are great games with 100s of hours of amazing base game content and some of the best dlc in modern gaming. Who cares which one is slightly better than the other?

Fallout 4 feels like the sequel was made with a monkey's paw. I like the improvements to VATS, SPECIAL, chems, survival, etc. The junk system and the crafting/settlement systems that followed were great additions to this setting. Then the writing comes along and reminds me that we live in an imperfect world and I still need to pay my rent.

Fallout 4 is a good open-world action game with RPG elements. But it's not an RPG game which is where most of the people who rip on it are from. Especailly since the last Fallout game was New Vegas and is wildly considered one of the best modern RPGs out there. There is a lot Fallout 4 has going for it like weapon crafting/customization, base building, fun gunplay etc.
I enjoy FO4. I don't understand the hate. Is it the GOAT? No. Is it bad? No. It has room for improvement. I've been playing it again over the past week. Been a lot of fun.
Fallout 4 has FANTASTIC moment-to-moment gameplay, but mediocre hour-to-hour gameplay and painfully messy writing. It lacks the narrative or mechanical depth of its predecessors, but ALSO the shooting and looting feels great and the open world isn't either mostly empty or cobbled out of a billion identical subway tunnels. More than anything else, I desperately await the day when the Fallout 4: New Vegas mod finally drops, so I can experience all the best parts of modern Fallout in a single package.
I played NV. It was okay. I got bored a lot. The characters were pretty.... meh. I don't even remember the companions. I don't understand all the hype around it. FO4 has robots, powered armor and settlement building. All the companions are memorable. There a lot of memorable NPCs. The story is fun and I never get bored... STILL! I guess NV was trying to be deep or something but it was lost on me.
Nah. I just don’t have my 2014 Minecraft world anymore. I’ve had to switch consoles a couple times since then and my progress never comes with me for some reason. In any game.
Every time he called combat easy I thought it was weird but then I remember I’ve been playing on survival exclusively for like 6 years. Haha Edit: btw I don’t like fallout new Vegas. I had the ps3 version. The constant bugs broke my spirit
Fallout 4 was a interesting game the story is not good and full of inconsistencies. But for the combat it was seen as Bethesdas best even though other games lapped it. Bethesda no longer has the privilege of being called a Bethesda game since now there are games with significantly less budget and being way more complex and inavative. It’s no longer the 2000s/2010s anymore Bethesda needs to learn how to evolve
"now there are games with significantly less budget and being way more complex and inavative." can you tell me which are those? no hate, it's just that it'd be cool to try some new games similar to what I know
I don't care if there are people saying Fallout 4 is good now. I still think it's trash, and I won't let all the new players coming form the show drown me out.
fallout 3 is better than New Vegas. New Vegas had too many bugs and it was practically unplayable and barely tolerable. the dungeons were too short. the story was boring. a New Vegas was just a desert one city and that's it boring
I'm going to breed that thumbnail

11:41 At some point I probably did, not gonna lie.
FO4 is the easiest Fallout to get into. Just hop in shoot things hop out. It’s good but different from FNV.
Every time he called combat easy I thought it was weird but then I remember I’ve been playing on survival exclusively for like 6 years. Haha
Edit: btw I don’t like fallout new Vegas. I had the ps3 version. The constant bugs broke my spirit
Was that a cowboy bebop reference? Update it was, is that Anime worth a watch?
Fallout 4 was a interesting game the story is not good and full of inconsistencies. But for the combat it was seen as Bethesdas best even though other games lapped it. Bethesda no longer has the privilege of being called a Bethesda game since now there are games with significantly less budget and being way more complex and inavative. It’s no longer the 2000s/2010s anymore Bethesda needs to learn how to evolve
"now there are games with significantly less budget and being way more complex and inavative."
can you tell me which are those?
no hate, it's just that it'd be cool to try some new games similar to what I know
Why not both? 4 for the game play and NV for the story!
splendid
14:54 Yo can I get the link to that video, so I can... avoid it.
🤨
I don't care if there are people saying Fallout 4 is good now. I still think it's trash, and I won't let all the new players coming form the show drown me out.
YOUR THOUGHTS?!?
Fallout 4 only made sense to me "lore wise" if you admit your playing a synth
Fallout is such a weird thing
Smash
fallout 3 is better than New Vegas. New Vegas had too many bugs and it was practically unplayable and barely tolerable. the dungeons were too short. the story was boring. a New Vegas was just a desert one city and that's it boring
ever since they nuked modding I haven't touched it
I clicked on this video because of the thumbnail
I *loved* this game right up until I didn't.
Was "Yaoi Gaui" at 6:49 on purpose?
