- This video will showcase the foundational techniques that I use for my settlement builds for Fallout 4.
0:50 Settlement Size (how to get Infinite Build limit)
1:35 Group Select/Pillar Glitch (more accurate object placements)
6:20 Rug Glitch (Placing non snappable objects anywhere you want)
8:40 Campfire Technique (Sinking objects inside floors)
13:00 Wire Trick (wiring electrical objects together regardless of distance or collision)
15:00 Decorating with Items (+dealing with items falling through)
19:10 Creative item Decoration (just introducing some items you'd normally wouldn't think of building with, will cover more in a future vid)
20:30 Settlement Population (how it works and how you can get infinite population)
22:25 Building Resources (useful perks to acquire + a dupe exploit if you want to cheese)
24:50 Unlockable Workshop Item List (I COULD be missing any but I think I got them all)
27:40 A quick building timelapse just to show examples of the building techniques.
I'd like to thank Skooled Zone, Sar Deliac, Benson Yee, Kate Funkberries, Ezefallout, The insane Shecklador, and many others for inspiration of this video.

You can group select by holding down the place button instead of pressing it (A on Xbox, X on PS, E on Keyboard). I have made the assumption that everyone knew how to do it or has accidentally done it at some point but I was mistaken.

Notes:
I didn't put the wifi glitch in this vid as I have had actual issues with it (crashes), so Its not something I do in my builds nor is it something I recommend.
you forgot the 10:59 timestamp!!!!!That was funny af! lmao
Mind blown
The comment is a day older than the video.
I presume it was unlisted at first?
what mods do you use for some of these items? Can they be found in the in game mod menu on pc? I tried downloading from nexus and cant figure out how to get them on my game.
@@Rad_Brad813 I dont use any mods. its kind of the point of the video actually. what items are you referring to?
With so many people playing Fallout 4 right now, this is such a useful guide.
Of course they're playing right now, next gen update is coming out tommorow.

@@raughboy188 Yeah, no... that's not it. It's because Fallout series in Prime, renewed the hype and stuff
@@WindflowPatternit's totally cause of the Amazon show it's a massive hit, I've had this game for over 4 yrs unopened..just cause I didn't know the story and wonky controls..now I'm playing it waiting for the update cause season pass is broken ... they messed this up big time folks hit that store and bought that unusable season pass on sale.. nonetheless im very happy I'm playing the game
Out of all the games I own it is the only game I play at the moment.
Ive played Fallout 4 since the day it came out and im just now learning about MOVING OBJECTS WITHOUT MOVING THE CHARACTER.
Same
I didn't know most of these things. I've got 500+ hours in this game lol
Facts
I know bro.. my jaw hurt from how long it was dropped.
Saaaaammee
I mean oml
Ive ragequit so much cuz i cant get the item where i want it
I just don't understand why we can't just clip things by default. It's a single player, survival, RPG if I wanted to build a dresser that is half embedded into the ground let me.
Yeah I love this game
So far but I just wanna build what I wanna build without resorting to glitches. I play games to escape the rules of life.
@@brandonscott6606 Thats why mods are a girls best friend
You should at least be able to do it with fences and walls so you don't get those annoying gaps when building on uneven ground
Thankfully there's a build anywhere mod that does exactly that.
@@Not5idif only the mods still worked
The pause you made to witness the whole action in sight... That was amazing.
I thought that was hilarious
@@liquidmarine it was! Perfect timing, and going silent was even better...
Best Pilots in town 😂
Ah, the joys of building at Croup Manor. Sympathies.
I've played this game and built vanilla with glitches for a good 4000 hours, yet you still have tips in here I haven't even considered. Great video
That feeling is normal if you play Fallout 4 or Skyrim :D
I didn’t know about the campfire hack! I found it so annoying that I couldn’t pillar glitch when in a building! Luckily I only just started my second playthrough a few weeks’ ago. My Slog settlement is looking so good right now, and I build a mid-century modern house with a massive raised skylight, it’s so cool to be playing again.
2000ish here. I was a heavy user of the pillar glitch but he did stuff I didn't even think about. Unfortunately my disc save isn't compatible with the digital version so I'm back to square one :/
@@willowtree6487 the pillar glitch and rug glitch are both fine…but have you ever used scaffolding framework ?? Completely changes everything, you have no idea until you try it…
@@OpinionatedCabbage have you tried using cloud save to access the save that way?
I wish Place Everywhere mod was made baseline. I was often frustrated by the limitations of placing objects even in places where it seemingly had no reason to not work. Once I got the mod, building became 10x more enjoyable.
It’s essential for settlement building.
@@psybunny3744 If you are playing on Steam you can revert to previous patch while the mods are being updated. I think TH-cam doesn't really like links so look up Fallout 4 patch revert and you'll get plenty of guides to follow.
@@psybunny3744 it’s fine if you didn’t update or if you use steam you can rollback the update. I played fine yesterday with all my antiquated mods.
@@psybunny3744pretty sure someone’s already working on updating script extender 🤞
Same with scrapping trash. It's stupid that we can't clean up the settlements. It's fine for a raider role play, but for a regular settlement it doesn't make sense to leave the trash lying around. Even Goodneighbor would look significantly better with clean streets. But I guess Bethesda assumes that life after nukes means filthy living for everyone.
This is probably one of THE most easy to comprehend videos on these glitches i have seen yet and its really nice to hear it be explained so well but with little jargon and all
I literally sat with my jaw hanging for a solid minute when I saw the pillar trick to fix floors, roofs, walls, etc. What a fantastic guide! Thank you so much to allowing more life back into my game!
the vertibird blowing up was just gold
Vertibird's gonna vertibird. What's really fun is when a crashing vertibird collides with a super mutant suicider... I turned and RAN.
@@cybercifrado sounds like an atomic result haha
I was laughing so hard! It is like the cat or dog who deicides to start snoring very loudly as you are recording...
Just sitting down and going with the flow, waiting for things to settle :P
the concept of someone genuinely trying to teach a class in the fallout universe with random shit like that constantly happening is so funny to me
I gotta shout out the quality of your production. It's pleasant, fun and crystal clear. Great video
The weapon display board behind the counter is a great tip I'll be using!
Seriously genius. I'd never even considered how to go about getting items in the displays like that, this is so easy!
Its so funny that builders have to gaslight the game to be able to build the way they want
Amazing that one of the most detailed and helpful building tip videos would come out almost a decade after the game's release. Thanks for your hard work in helping beautify wastelands everywhere !
Found this video right when I was about to do a junk grind and focus building up some Settlements.
Thank u, helps alot
I've been playing fallout for a very long time and this is the best and most useful tips and tricks for building settlements. U rock dude!Thankyou for sharing!
it reallhy is, and concise too
the visual nods and examples while you give instructions are really well done! Gotta be one of the best build videos on YT.
Thank you for this! I just got into FO4 for chiefly the settlement building, so videos like this are a godsend. I’ve rage quit a couple of times due to trying to fix up the ceilings/roofs and floors of sanctuary in the last couple of weeks. But videos like this make it actually fun! So thank you.
this video popped up on my recommended feed as soon as i hopped off of fallout a few nights ago. decided to give some of the ideas a shot and i've never seen my settlement look so fucking gorgeous. Thank you!
As someone who's never bothered to glitch placing objects, pulling off even the ashtray glitch feels amazing. And I never would've known without this video, thank you!
How many hours do you have on fallout? "Yes"
Group select sounds like a really useful mechanic that I didn't even know existed. I wish you would've explained how to do it.
just hold the build button. I figured everyone knew how to do it.
Based on the wealth of clear & concise information and the professional presentation you deserve more subscribers. Consider me one.
Hopefully they don’t change anything with the upcoming update. I love rebuilding atm. It’s kinda meditative 🙌🏻
Edit: I only got that deep into building because of ur sanctuary build. So inspiring, now I‘m fixing walls, reroofing, it’s kinda crazy like learning illustrator or photoshop just in Fallout. I even bought a new pc to increase the size of my buildings. Last time I checked my sanctuary with 2070RTX on my msi Laptop I had average 18 Fps cause it’s just toooooo huge. Bro u’re just the baddest motherf**** of building I‘ve ever witnessed but since I watched the Fallout show I feel inspired by their builds. Pretty much comparable to urs. Whatever keep it up lad. I have to make some vids on my own which program do u use? Adobe Premier?
Thanks Brotha ✌
I use Powerdirector, just a small price yearly compared to Adobe. Worth for me since I don't do anything crazy editing wise.
I share the same fear. There are even a lot more settlement glitches that were not shown here. I really hope Bethesda does not screw them up or try to make building more like 76.
@@theinsaneshecklador6598 oh god pls no. NNOOOOOOOOO
Bad news I just red they’re fixing the creation kit. Officially confirmed by Bethesda Germany. Oh dear. It was a pleasure.
@@CNXMedia what does that mean for settlement building? The creation kit is the tool that allows people to make mods and adjustments to the game, I haven't read anywhere they are changing settlement building specifically. I'm banking on them being extremely lazy and incompetent to be doing that at all.
Your builds are cool and inspiring. I also loved your choice of easy listening music during the final build. Great video
This is a very informative video squeasy, I have alot of questions but one specifically comes to mind:
whats going on at 14:57?
The jet will make you jittery
This video just changed the game for me. I am not being dramatic when I say this. I had NO CLUE you could do half of this. Thank you so much for sharing all of this!
Started playing fallout 4 recently because of the fallout show and got addicted to the settlement mechanic. This video’s going to make my life so much easier, thank you!
Also I would love to see your video on “barnacle building” as I love doing that too!
I can't thank you enough for explaining how to prevent items from falling through tables and floors. While I find the settlement system enjoyable, returning to see items on a floor or lower level would dampen the enthusiasm to flesh-out the settlements.
Seriously trying to get into settlement building for the first time with Fallout London. Even with a ton of mods I still suck at after 20 hours. This is tremendously helpful!
running across the map with a shaping car for settles who don't appreciate you, that's what I call dedication.
The gun rack in the display is BRILLIANT. Love how much I’m still learning ❤️
I did not know a single thing on this list besides the rug glitch because of another video i watched, with this knowledge maybe I'll finally get into settlment building in vanilla.
This is incredible, I've been playing for so many years now. All the way back to New vegas and I just learned about the rug glitch and now this?! I've got too upgrade everything and make things better thank you for this awesome help. Your a lifesaver man.
This is my first run thru FO4 your base is so nice and your ideas and tricks are mind blowing. I feel more overwhelmed 😂 gotta keep watching build videos I guess.
someone who also says the pc controls 😘
I just started playing Fallout recently and one thing that bugged me was the floating and not being able to build in certain places. Your video just opened many possibilities for me! Thanks a lot for the tips! 🤯🤯
Super helpful. Ive been avoiding building at all costs due to, mostly, the lack of being able to clip things. So this is really neat!
I've been playing the game on/off for 6 years and watched other videos but still learned quite a bit from your video. I get frustrated with settlement building and kind of just started to do the very least to get by like having hole filled roofs, LOL. Going to rethink how I'm doing my settlements now.
Dude youre amazing for this video this has literally been a game changer. I can finally build what ive been TRYING to
My sanctuary finally crashed after 4 years of building. It’s electrical consumption required a 9 story power plant that was zoned to house 750 mid sized generators. The entire bottom half of the city crashed through the ground, and I haven’t played it since.
Some of the tips are from another lvl putting weapon cases inside market stands. Good video thanks for sharing
holy fuck man ive put about 200 hours into this game in the last 2 months and just learned soo much! I have only watched my old room mate play it in the past, and i never knew about the rug or pillar glitch! This will help me soooo much! I am mostly building and optimizing all 30 settlements before doing any of the main plot missions (then eventually ill get the dlc and do those 7 too). Im also doing any and all side missions as they come naturally. I broke the map into 3rds and am about to hit the bottom 3rd now. I have a couple basic mods that improve settlement building like uso and snappy, but item placement kills me every time, and learning about how to move the item feely made me feel so dumb lol. I love this video man!
Thanks great guide, looking forward to trying them out. When I started replaying, I don't think I anticipated how obsessed I was about to get with settlements. Also commenting to boost.
Thank you, I had completely forgotten about these and was scratching my head trying to remember which mods I must have used in the past to get stuff built properly.
Oh of course. i had forgotten about using a shopping trolley to carry a bunch of junk items at the same time.
All around great and solid tips; sadly very few videos made on this topic are actually very helpful. Kudos!
A few things came to mind:
1) Indeed gamma guns are highly efficient for dealing with build size. I'm not sure since I haven't experimented with it enough, but I think (based on my current somewhat limited experience) baseball bats with the highest tiers of rocket addons (gained from Nuka World?) is the only thing that beats gamma guns for this purpose.
2) On getting high Charisma; it's impossible to pull off at startup, but you get +15 from a full Unyielding loadout. Running around with 750+ rads actually isn't all that cumbersome, especially since you can scale your damage off of it as well.
3) I didn't know about the supply line method of moving settlers regardless of your current charisma, thanks! =) There's another way as well, although you cannot choose which settlers you get. If you clear the Automatron questline properly, you get to do radiant missions cleaning up bot patrols and some of these spots will have settler groups which you can recruit and send to any of your owned settlements regardless of current charisma.
Cheers!
I was lookin for a helpful video for building in FO4, Yours is by far the best i've come across. Thank you
Omg this is the exact video I have been searching for!! I play on ps4 and it's so hard to make a nice settlement with the vanilla game not knowing these tips and where to find things. THANK YOU!! I can't wait to play after work tonight now. ❤😊
Ive been playing since day 1 and NEVER knew about the Settler Recruitment tricks!
I've been playing since the game came out and never knew about most of these. This is great! Thank you!
Thank you so much for those tips I recently played Fallout 4 again after some time and wanted to get into the settlement building but had many problems because I couldn't build like I wanted thank you so much❤
This is cool. I started a new playthrough on PS5 and I've been building a lot more (and generally putting more work into the settlements) than in my previous one.
the stop to watch all that mayhem was beautiful hahaha, great video!
This is soooo game changing! Just started a new vanilla play and have been struggling to build anything. Only knew about the rug ones but since forgot cause I haven’t played unmodded in a long time.
Thank u so much! I've started to play Fallout 4 again after the show and haven't played it since 2016/17. I downloaded every mod i had when i last played the game, but unfortunately some of them don't work anymore, because of Bethesdas Update. But you 're showing stuff that's exactly what i need! Especially the first ones! (Settlement Size, Pillar/Ashtray Glitch etc.) 😍
The wire trick you described is what the conduits were designed for, it's metal tubes that mimic wires with the attachment points on them. They clip through walls on purpose so you can wire up a wall and pass power through to the other side. At least that was my understanding of them. Your method is certainly easier than dealing with them lol
Thank you for explaining the campfire glitch!
Rug glitching the shelves to keep items from falling is great, too.
The steering method is so helpful. I can finally put all my floating crops in the dirt
The resurgence of fallout 4 has been so special to see. Please, Bethesda, capitalize on this.
Hey man if you see this, great job. Also, as a longtime player with more hours than I’ll admit, this is both amazing and terrible for me. I have to touch-up every settlement I have now. And they’re pretty damn nice. Cheers.
I put around 600 hours into settlement building last playthrough but still only achieved a fraction of this. Thanks for the tips. Definitely enjoying the 'barnacle building' method as you call it. I could imagine there's some tips on things to avoid with settlement building I'm overlooking too.
I think thats a good follow up video to make 'mistakes to avoid in settlement building'
@@orangesqueasy Please make that! Thanks for this awesome video! Learned many new ideas from it! 👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺
I love the random explosion and awkward silence at 11:01
Honestly this was great. I’m sure you have sourced some ideas and came up with some but regardless you are genius!
i remember knowing few tricks back in the days this guide helps alot man
You should make a video showing what size each home needs for roofing and flooring in sanctuary. Would be super useful.
Great tips and really good graphics and video quality really enjoyed learning new way to build on Fallout 4.
I’m playing Fallout 4 in VR and it’s the most frustrating experience of my life trying to build🤦🏼♀️.I wish I could put all of this into practice in VR without pulling all of my hair out 🤣 fantastic video though! New sub here!
This couldn’t have came at a better time thank you!
A video worthy of subscription. So clear and well put. 🎉🎉
Great video, thanks! I only recently had the chance to start playing fo4, my pc was too weak before lol.
I have almost 300h on steam but still had no idea about most of these. I'm obsessed with getting 100% games so I play without any mods, I will only install them after I have everu single achievement. It's really useful to know the glitches, vanilla budilding is someimes so damn infuriating.
The items falling through furniture was one of the biggest issues for me. Thank you so much again!!
Amazing guide! And the trailer build looks so spiffy!
i’m so amazed. this guy is a genius.
I've never cared too much about my settlements looking perfect, but I'll be so glad to put up some Junk Fences with no gaps now.
I usually get to a point in the game where I just start consoling in resources, usually after clearing the car factory.
Reasoning is I have a bunch of scavengers and a massive factory full of resources, plus power pylons and whatnot, if they have a plasma cutter they can get as much metal as they need.
I had no idea you could make these settle.ents so elaborate. I never really got too big into the building. I just slapped some beds down and made sure they had enough food water and defense 😅😅 ima see what kind of crazy builds I can come up with now that I'm back in the game. Great video!!!
This is really helpful and good timing for an upload lmao
1500 Hours of Fallout 4 (PC+PS4/PS5) and I'm still learning! 👍
THAT HEIGHT CHANGER IS INCREDIBLE
thank you soooo much, you have made this game even more enjoyable.
Such a good Video and so relaxing with the music. Thank you good sir
Do you know the name of the song that plays like 3 minutes into the video? It's annoying me and I need to find it.
they also added in the next gen update Halloween decorations (find another picket fences magazine at the quest location) & some Enclave items(there's 3 magazines at their 3 outposts that the main base gives their location for the magazine is next to the terminal at each base). Even though the're technically CC but everyone gets it for free
I don't like the items given, I'm not going to shift through 20 more item tabs of Halloween decorations to place a potted plant
This one viseo replaces hours of other youtube tutorials. Thank you OS.
YOU JUST CHANGED MY WHOLE LIFE!!!! I can now put PLANTS IN THE GROUND!!!! easy sub for that alone!
I have been playing fallout 4 since DOR. I have been settlement building for almost 10 years. I have friends asking me to build their settlements because they cant do some of the things i do and i had NO idea about the itemproofing glitch, the campfire glitch or the wiring though walls. My settlements are all about to get a major upgrade. Thank you ❤
I've been struggling with my builds you shown me a lot thanks😀😀
Loved the Into the wild reference!
All of these settlement building videos just remind me of how little creativity I have lol, great guide.
War never changes. And neither does my love for Fallout 4. Every time I step into the wasteland, it's like coming home to a place that's both familiar and endlessly surprising. From the moment I emerged from Vault 111, I knew this was a world I could get lost in for hours on end. Whether I'm scavenging for supplies, battling raiders, or just soaking in the eerie beauty of the post-apocalyptic landscape, there's always something new to discover. So, excuse me while I load up my Pip-Boy and dive back into the Commonwealth for another adventure.

Pretty impressive the Prydwen has a limitless supply of Vertibirds on it given how many they seem to lose.
They should give you a job as a level interior designer in videogames. I enjoyed your creativity. Liked and subscribed.
Been playing fallout 4 for several years and didn’t know half this stuff. Lawd.
2:50 haven’t noticed this ever that’s crazy! Thanks! +1 sub
My god, You are doing magic .
18:00 XD
About population in settlements it can be bugged in the case of gang outpost where population dont stop and the best way to reduce the population is with that super bike from vault tec which has high probability to kill npc who use it.
Definitely going to use all of these now. So excited.
For the settlement build limit I found the Gamma Gun worked best at bringing the limit meter down quickly.
Goddamn fantastic video, i normally dnt finish videos but i was smiling the whole time, no way i go back tonthe old ways 🤣🤣
Regarding junk resources, I built a water purifier farm in sanctuary netting me 1000 per ~10.
Take it, fast travel to all vendors, buy almost every shipment type.
For the duplicate glitch on PC, using the default keys do this technique :-
1. Highlight the object
2. Press and hold the R key.
3. As you release the R key, press the Tab key.
If you time it correctly you will open both scrap and store menu.
Loving the show bringing ppl back
Had the game since launch and i learned a bunch.
