@@nuggetguy4415 One thing that interests me about killing bulborbs is that, like in real life, Pikmin and the enemies in game are like animals, the Pikmin are like herbivores, the bulborbs are like carnivores that keep the Pikmin and bulborb system balance, without Bulborbs, the Pikmin population would go out of balance and then they would all die from starvation
@Pokémon & FF fan But aren't species-specific names to describe an animal translated into Latin, and THAT'S what the scientific name would be? For example, Galeocerdo Cuvier means tiger shark, and has the species name and the genus name for both words. Then again, some animals are translated in a weird way, such as dinosaurs, which are often just things like allosaurus meaning 'different lizard'. Idk this whole thing is confusing.
My headcanon for the origins of Pikmin is that they're an artificial species humans created at some point in the distant past for various purposes, such as cleaning, pest control, or as pets. Farming implements seem also like a good use for them (have them pick fruits and attack bugs that eat said fruits). "Utility Ants", if you will. That's why they: -Need a machine-like entity to reproduce. They aren't regular organisms that reproduce naturally. You'd go to the store, buy an Onion, put some Biomass in it, then watch it grow Pikmin. -Tend to follow orders of whoever is actively growing them. Again, they're "utility ants" doing whatever their grower wanted them to do. -Have difficulty surviving on their own: They were never really meant to be a part of a natural ecosystem sustaining itself-and likely even designed to not be able to (for the sake of both the environment and planned obsolescence). They have now outlived their creators, and without any maintenance or guidance they're no longer really functional.
Cool idea. My headcannon was always pikmin were just some evolution of ants in the far, far future. Similarly, all the creatures in the games are just future evolutions of current creatures
Chibi-Robo is the competition. But when things started going downhill for the human race and energy production stopped Pikmin became more popular and functional which is why they are still available when Olimar comes to earth.
Man i just realised I’m watching a grown ass man pretending to be a puppet that’s talking about why he loves a video game where your a spaceman that’s controlling humanoid plants…………………and I love it
"If you throw them at an enemy, they'll just keep fighting until it dies or they die." I like to think the feasting halls of Asgard are just full of these little bastards.
Thank you for fighting the good fight Arlo and informing people about this amazing franchise. It's also my favorite Nintendo franchise, gameplay wise. Kinda tied with Zelda... but that's just because Zelda has gotten so much more love. If there were as many Pikmin games as Zelda games, I'm sure Pikmin would be my top dog.
As a Pikmin fan myself I gotta say I’m in many ways glad there aren’t as many games. Like don’t get me wrong I want a 4th one badly but Pikmin really seems like a franchise that could get really messed up if over saturated. Zeldas good at switching up core mechanics thus making different entries unique. Pikmin as we’ve seen with “Hey Pikmin!” is better when it sticks to its roots. I would love to see more games but too many could also be harmful ya know?
Heres comes my own little very personal Pikmin story: I initially hated pikmin since super smash bros brawl was(and still is) one of my favourite games ever and Olimar sucked. I was convinced I was right and stayed like that for a long while. But one day in late Feb to very early March 2015 I stumbled upon a video of someone I cant remember playing Pikmin 3 and decided I'd get it. A few days later I found it in a game bin in Gamestop and started to play it and it was AMAZING. My grandfather, one of my favourite people in the world, was in the hospital with pancreatic cancer and eventually died from it. In the days leading up to his funeral I played so much Pikmin 3 that I did very little else. The fact that you had this little army of creatures who were always with you and that even when they died they always came back since you could just grow new ones, and how even thought they were individually weak but when they banded together they come take down these towering creatures really resonated with me and its become one of my favourite games of recent memory. I really hope we get a Pikmin 4 and thanks for taking the time to read this. Pikmin is awesome
"Olimar sucked" I used to think that too. I saw Olimar as a weak character with the most powerful Final Smash to compensate. Of course, back then I didn't know anything about competitive play and tier lists, now I know that Olimar is actually considered one of the best characters in Brawl. (I'm still not really invested in competitive Smash but I am aware of all the tier lists and who are considered the best characters)
@@lisasenters6164 I really don't actually, I'm not sure if you're jut saying that to make an among us reference but if you're seriously feel free to point them out
"Who's ever played Pikmin and not wondered why the world is the way it is?" *slowly raises hand* That being said, I think you hit the nail on the head with everything else. One reason why I love Pikmin that wasn't brought up is the feeling of progression. Each time I take down a wall, build a bridge, or collect an item, it feels satisfying, and it's one more step towards the ultimate goal of completion. Pikmin is a delight, and I've been looking forward to Pikmin 4 as much as you have. Okay, ALMOST as much as you have.
I feel like people hate Pikmin franchise due to Smash. It's kinda sad, since the games are so charming. Especially watching the TH-camrs passionate about the game, like Chugaa, Dazz, and Arlo, are really enjoyable as you could see how much they love the games. Watching them is what got me into Pikmin in the first place.
Speaking of Pikmin in Smash, I'm still sad how they don't let the characters actually use their voices. That and where's Louie? The president? The other Pikmin 3 characters? Why did Bowser Jr get all the alt costume love?! x)
@@VonFirflirch why would you want a character named "The President", i agree louie would be nice, but i don't want another fighter with a name like "The Hero"
@@prestonlim2237 I'm just in love with his voice, alright? Then again, since Smash goes out of its way not to use that for some characters, I guess my point is moot... But seriously, he would be the only costume I'd use xD
Watched this whole video, not realizing that it came out two years ago. Then when you said that Pikmin 4 should be announced I sat here like "NOBODY TELL HIM" then I looked at the date.
My favorite Arlo video th-cam.com/video/OUel9VVQAWQ/w-d-xo.html edit it's a joke but srsly Arlo is one of my favorite nintendo youtubers. His videos are as addicting as animal crossing
Pikmin is something everyone loves because it features great characters, like *_Steve, the Red Pikmin trooper_* 1:27 Also, jeez Arlo, social distancing man, you can't get that close to someone in these times
My own little personal Pikmin story: So, I was playing the first Pikmin game blind and I’ve gotten 28 ship parts, I had seen the arena in the Forest Navel where the Beady Long Legs battle takes place, but it scared me since I couldn’t see anything there, eventually I gathered the little courage I had and stepped in, the music began to play, but nothing was there, for a moment, I was dumbfounded, “was there really just nothing there?” “Had the radar really lied to me?” But before I could think enough it dropped from the sky, the Beady Long Legs and I freaked. Out. It was the most scariest thing I had ever seen, the fear I had before, was real, Nintendo had never done anything like this before, and it was a frightening experience, once the Long Legs dropped I paused the game, I was so filled with fear I didn’t know what to do, it already scared me enough and now I had to FIGHT it! So I just... didn’t, I couldn’t, I tried foolishly asking my sister and my dad for help but they had no idea how to play the game, so, I just went to sleep, leaving the game on, paused on the battlefield with that boss looming over Captain Olimar and his Pikmin. The next day, I woke up, and saw that my game had remained on, still on that horrific frame, I sat there, thinking about what I would have to face, how I would even beat this massive enemy, but I had to go to school for the day so I got ready continuing to leave the game on, once I got home I wasn’t ready, I once again sat on my bed, still thinking about how I would do this, but, gathering all my courage once again, like I had done the previous day, I pressed the A button and began what would be my most intense and memorable boss fight ever I had brought all 3 types of Pikmin, seeing how almost useless yellows had been before I didn’t bring many in, but I knew this was their time, but with a squad of 100 Pikmin, the Long Legs easily crushed them, leaving me with no more yellows, just a few blues and reds, then I was only able to throw my Pikmin and attack when his core went down to taunt me, so I did, and after a long battle, my greatest foe in Pikmin was defeated, I had done it, I had overcome my overwhelming fear and defeated the Beast that plagued me and it was the most euphoric feeling ever, now, I had collected the 29th ship part and I was prepared to face The Final Trial, sadly that would have to wait since it was getting late and the next day I would be going to my Grandma’s house, once I got home again the final boss wasn’t much compared to the Beady Long Legs, but that memory is one that I’ll never ever forget.
Given that story, how was your experience with 2, if you've ever played it? That one loooOOOooOOoOves its little(?), falling, surprises... ;) I have a similar childhood story, with that game. Except I actually chose to run xD
still the final boss of Pikmin 1 with Emperor Bulblax is a rather tough fight if your not stunning him with bomb rocks (either tricking him into eating one or a yellow throwing it into his mouth....the latter is the better method as it does keep him stunned for longer) and generally Emperor Bulblax changes how your fight as many of the enemies you wanna attack them from behind so you can get the jump on them 1st....the Bulborb king himself isn't like that at all since his body is too bouncy thus forcing you to attack him head on by throwing pikmin onto his face still the final bosses on each Pikmin game are good with: Emperor Bulblax, the Titan Dweevil, the Plasm Wraith and lastly the Berserk Leech Hydroe (which for some reason Hydroe turns into a freaking DRAGON in the final phase )
In Pikmin 2, that secret beady long legs, if you get to Perplexing Pools on a certain day, scared me the first time I ever encountered it. When it happened, he dropped down from the endless void that is up and completely isolated me and my Pikmin between its legs. Being a child, I paused the game and immediately pushed the power button on my Wii console. Few days later, I turned on the game and instantly remembered the long legged freak. I think the scariest part of the beady long legs is the idea that he can jump out from no where and be in your face. And now you have a major threat that can greatly punish you if you are not careful. And in most instances is done in the unknown. Back to the story, after thinking about the beady long legs I simply flew to another zone and collected more treasures. Now every time I come back to Pikmin 2 and everytime I go to Perplexing Pools I always think about how it scared me and how silly I feel now expecting him to be there every time I deliberately walk over the donut that to him probably looks like a target to drop down and squash me.
I'm all in with you Arlo! I loooooove Pikmin! Pikmin 2 is probably one of my all-time favorite games. I particularly liked that one because not only was it super long, but honestly I really loved that Pikmin 2 didn't give you a limited number of days. I just personally felt like letting me take my time and utilize as many days as I wanted to complete all the goals, while still having to manage my time during each day was the perfect middle-ground for Pikmin. Pikmin 3 was great, but, the juice mechanic, while not as oppressive as the first game's 30-days, made the game feel just a tad more stressful than I cared for, and overall it was waaaay shorter than Pikmin 2, which was pretty sad. I really hope that whenever Pikmin 4 comes out, they go back to a format of giving you as much time as you want, and it's the biggest, longest, most detailed Pikmin ever!
I hope they release Pikmin trilogy on Switch. People might not want to pay 60$ for only pikmin 3, so i think a trilogy will sell a lot better. If it sells well, pikmin 4 might come sooner.
Dude I would buy that so fast! I will be sad at the lack of controls that the Wii U version had. That truly was the best overall system you could have for controlling pikmin. Wiimote and nunchuck for controlling current character, with gamepad to act as a minimap and send people off to do other jobs. Yeah yeah the joycons have motion control, but not in the sense that they could be used like a pointer such as with a wiimote
@@Hobbles_ there is an IR camera on the right Joy-Con, the same thing that's in a Wii Remote, they just need to figure out how to use it, either holding it backwards with the Wii sensor bar, or a new accessory, like a grip for each Joy-Con with IR mirrors for the right one.
@@Hobbles_ Based on how the Wii motion plus worked, Joycon should definately be able to have a pointer on the screen. Legends of zelda skyward sword actually did not use the pointing system at all, yet it did have a cursor in the menu's. It knew where the cursor was supposed to be purely on the motion sensor of the wii motion plus. I am pretty confident that the motion sensors in the joycon are on par, if not better than the wii motion plus, so again, a curse is definitely possible. For those saying the joycan has an IR camera, even though that is true, it won't help it with a pointer, since the switch doesn't have a sensor bar to receive the IR stuff with, nor does it have something to send IR signals. So that camera is, for specific purpose, useless.
The atmosphere of pikmin is one of my favorites of any game. Equal parts tranquil yet mysterious and dangerous much like untamed wilderness in the real world. Miyamoto really did a good job conceptualizing these games.
I'm just waiting for the day that Arlo either grows a flower out of his head to truly ascend into pikmin-hood, or if he will get to the the commander by getting a fishbowl helmet with a built in whistle.
Your genuine love of Pikmin is so infectious it's the sole reason I picked up Pikmin 3 on the Wii U. I'd never really wanted to try the series out until I started watching your stuff.
This guy just comments something basic that everyone can agree with in every video possible, so I guess people know who he is now. Gureato-daze, koitsu wa.
It's so endearing to hear people talk about things they love, the way you talk about puckimin is very similar to how I feel about Splatoon and I basically can't stop thinking about that game series
Arlo stays cracking me up lol. I swear half the stuff that I die laughing at wouldn’t even be funny if delivered from someone else. Keep up the good work and don’t ever stop talking about pikmin.
I love Pikmin too! (That’s probably obvious.) Unfortunately, everyone who I show it to seems disinterested in it. Seriously, this series needs more love!
I know that feeling. Pikmin is great, but none of my friends love it. Their opinion of it ranges from "Meh" to "Don't care" Sadly Pikmin has a bit of a niche audience. A small but strong fanbase. I am afraid that the fanbase might be to small for nintendo to care to much about the franchise anymore :(
If a trilogy got released on the switch I would give them another chance.I didn't like them back in the day,but I want to give the series another chance on switch if they come.
Your love of Pikmin was what convinced me to buy and try out Pikmin 3 on my WiiU. And after playing it I went back and got the Wii remakes of the original 2 and played through them. And I even learned to speedrun 2 categories of Pikmin 3. So at this point I'm right there with you crossing my fingers for Pikmin 4 to eventually be released!
The original Pikmin is still my favorite entry in the series. I love watching my ship go from a barely functional wreck to a pristine and powerful rocket, and how most of the pieces you add visually change how the ship looks like you're putting a model ship together. Even cooler is how some of the pieces are functional like the radar. The other main thing I loved from the first game was the 30 day time limit. You talked about how you never worry about running out of time but wow the first game that was a legitimate worry. You had to be going after multiple ship parts per day to make up for later parts that would take more than one day to gain access to, or to have time to replenish Pikmin after a tough battle. One time I lot 60 blue Pikmin in one very unlucky fight with a Wollywog and was absolutely mortified, and I had to spend an entire day just building my ranks back up to try the fight again. I do hope that Pikmin 4 brings back something similar to both of the features. Pikmin 2 was fine but it didn't stick with me the way 1 did due to the changes to the items and the infinite number of days.
I feel like everyone has there game that they adore, not everyone has the same opinions but if you just stop and think about it you probably connect to a game like Arlo does to Pikmen
Yeah. That game became "A Hat in Time" for me, this year! Its got an adorable protagonist, cute to hilarious dialogue, a fantastic soundtrack, great platforming controls and level design, Steam Workshop support, etc. Mafia wants sequel to amazing game, but Mafia know it's not happening anytime soon ...Lol Here's an in-depth post I made about "A Hat in Time". *Boop!* drive.google.com/file/d/1IY0X7Up8xqDvoS3dqN_vRDafTsC54nds/view?usp=drivesdk
Seriously, I have no idea why I TH-camr so fairly chill Stokes so much genuine hatred. In my feed I had some personality linking a pic of the Animal Crossing Video and ranting how wrong he is... and when someone tried to correct them in the comments that Arlo said "regardless of my opinion play it your way" this personality just replied with an I don't care GIF.
Twitter is just where the people chronically addicted to being mad online congregate. I've long since stopped caring about that site because of that. I don't think I've ever had a good time visiting there.
I used to love the original Pikmin, even though watching them die was so stressful that I couldn't continue playing after I hit my first "dungeon" in the challenge mode or whatever. But yes. Pikmin is magical. I remember being so into it that when I saw the New Play Control version for the Wii, I literally screamed "YES!" in the store ^^
Kirby fans when there's a spinoff: Hey that looks interesting. Maybe I'll try it out. Pikmin fans when there's a spinoff: Is that some sort of personal attack?
I actually didn't mind the spin-off game being Hey! Pikmin, as I thought the game was pretty damn good, seriously it's a lot better then Yoshi's New Island as that game *SUCKED* in my opinion
I completely agree with what you say about the perfectly rendered items, Arlo. That's one of the biggest things I look for in a game. For example, in Animal Crossing, I find it splendid to see all those little household items and find myself just staring at them and being obsessed with collecting them.
"Maybe Nintendo will give us Pikmin 4! That's a joke. Ofcourse they wont do that." -Arlo For real tho from this video, it took them 2 years to finally mention Pikmin 4 lol
I've always been impressed with how far Pikmin goes with its worldbuilding, it totally commits to being from the perspective of aliens who couldn't possibly know of the existence of humans or any real world objects and names for things. They don't just say "they look like carrots" cuz that would be cheating, instead they invent a vegetable the Hocotatians are familiar with to compare to the Pikmin, which you then later get to see. Every single item description is an imaginative interpretation, and by the end you're fully immersed in this headspace of seeing the world around you a little bit different. On top of that you've got the absurd amount of end-of-day emails and log entries, through all my original playthroughs it felt like I could never find the end of them, and they all seemed to respond to my current circumstances in the game. Imagine how hard you'd be sold on a fictional world in an RPG if you almost NEVER got looping dialogue from repeatedly talking to NPCs.
I know why BECAUSE THEYRE INCREDIBLE GAMES. PIKMIN FANS UNITE Coming from a guy who'd played Pikmin 3s story mode over 200 times both for sr's and casual
true....but while Pikmin seem's to be on hiatus, Paper Mario on the other hand has an identity crisis after having 2 games that really sucked with Sticker Star & Color Splash if they do make a new Paper Mario game....let's hope it's something like the 1st 2 games or like Super Paper Mario and not another really crappy entry like it was with Sticker Star & Color Splash
7:02 I feel like pikmin is an animal biology like game, since there is different environments, which pikmin survives which chemicals/chemical reactions or compounds (electricity, fire, water, poison) how they survive, and psychology, yes it may be fictional, but this is just my opinion, let me know if you feel like it's an animal biology like game too, I'm curious on what you think about Pikmin.
Lol give it up, the game was only really popular in Japan and has a small cult following in the US. Nintendo ain't going to waste money on a game that doesnt sell. Expect Metroid prime 4 first
Pikmin is probably the most unique Nintendo franchise. There are other games like Mario, there are other games like Zelda, other games like Fire Emblem and Metroid and Star Fox. But if you want a Pikmin-like game, there really isn’t anything else but Pikmin itself. Even other strategy games aren’t that similar.
Allow keep to quote awkward zombie: "Let's make a game based entirely around micromanagement. Let's make a game where every moment must be spent efficiently or else it can't be completed at all; any wasted time means a growing anxiety of being able to finish. All your units must be fragile enough that a literal stray wind will severely debilitate them, and every enemy must be powerful enough to steamroll through and obliterate your entire squad in an instant if left unchecked. Let's make a game that forces you to spend several hours and superfluous effort to reach a goal that, if not reached correctly, will cease to exist. Hell, while we're at it, let's put a time limit on the whole thing. BUT WHY DO I LOVE IT SO MUCH"
I can’t finish Pikmin 3, I played it so much when I was going through a really rough time because of how lovely it is but now every time I try to play it I get flashbacks of how I felt back then 🙃
I’m a fan of Pikmin. Pikmin 3 is my favorite of them all! I love the stone and winged Pikmin. I also like to try to beat the game super fast and have the least amount of days. It’s strange because I don’t normally like to play games fast, but the day cycles in these games make me want to strive for that goal.
Music is another big point I love about pikmin games. So relaxing, chill, yet eerie and sometimes straight creepy as hell. You also played one of my favourites, the piklopedia. Its like the feeling of an unknown and very dangerous planet, with adventure but uneasiness.
For an 8 year old boy that i was at the time who loved plants, animals and insects, pikmin was a beauty unlike other. Pikmin 2 is till this day my favorite installment that made 3 look kinda disappointing with its lack of enemies and bosses and items. That and also piklopedia was so exquisite to expand the pikmin universe and i would stay there watching just for the music.
It's just so wholesome to hear you talk about something you love dearly. We need the positivity. Please do more of this! And answering your last question, I'm an absolute Pikmim newbie. I got the first game in very late 2019, just in time to serve as my Christmas present, and I have yet to beat it. Also, I SUCK at it. I repeated one of the first days over and over because I kept getting stuck, and I feel like I never have enough Pikmin. Still, I really enjoy it so far and I especially look forward to Pikmin 3, to the point where I'm at least considering picking that up before Pikmin 2. I probably won't, but 3 is just SO BEAUTIFUL, you know??
I literally haven’t even finished the video yet, and Arlo, oh my god you absolutely NAILED THIS VIDEO. Every single damn point in this video is EXACTLY how I feel about Pikmin. Pikmin is just, amazing, period. No words can describe how big a place it holds in my heart!!! The realism, the nature of Pikmin, the scenery, the tone, the MUSIC, the gameplay; just everything is so nicely designed.
I dropped a huge “F bomb,” yesterday while playing Pikmin 3 Deluxe, while I was sitting next to my wife. I paused the game, put the Switch down for a minute and my wife asked me, “what happened, you lose a couple of guys?” I looked at her and said, “about 60 of them just drowned.” It’s been a while since I got so wrapped up in the consequences of a video game that it gave me pause. It’s honestly so awesome and such a fun experience.
Me and you are one in the same Arlo.. I will never forget my childhood experience of playing Pikmin 1 and 2 on GameCube with my brother. THE MUSIC!❤Thank God for this game and me being able to play it in my childhood
This is pretty much my favorite video of yours, aside from the one where you call yourself a sissy and wonder if there's medicine like "peepancenol" that you could take, but I digress. The amount of positivity from this one is just oozing right out, and I love it. While your critical, analytical and hypothetical views are great (and of course the critical ones get the most views because as you said, negativity sells sometimes) I really do appreciate all the positive energy you have to pour out, how hesitant you are to explore perceptually negative views, and how much of a good vibe you give off through it all. It's odd, even though I fall into the 'just okay' group of folks who've played Pikmin (I've only experienced the first one, never beat it, and never tried the second or third ones but seen playthroughs) I still love hearing you talk about it. Honestly, if we ever do get a Pikmin 4, just your praise for the series alone has gotten me curious enough to pick it up and play.
I’ve never really had a problem with short length in games because that increases the replayability; you want to beat the game faster than you did before. Pikmin 1 and 3 excel at this, because of the day system that separates a fast play through into smaller, satisfying challenges. I’ve never been as much into Pikmin 2 because the cave system kinda ruins that flow (and the caves aren’t that interesting to begin with) All three are great games though.
A lot of people said Pikmin 1 was too short, but it was perfect. It was meant to be replayed over and over, which I did. I think the best I did was 11 days. Pikmin 2 was too long and most of the time is spent in dark caves which kind of just felt like padding. Pikmin 3 was great. They should at least release the trilogy on switch if they aren’t giving us Pikmin 4 any time soon.
I love the caves in Pikmin 2. Wondering if the boss at the end was next or if there were more trials to go... trying to get through without losing a single pikmin... no timer. I loved the caves and wish they would be brought back as optional challenges in pikmin 4 since it seems many people didn’t like them.
@@lol-ih1tl well that and the fact that they were so dark and gloomy it was so out of pace with the rest of the game. It would be cool if they were optional challenges but only if they were a bit shorter and less depressing
I'm so glad someone else shared my complete adoration for the pikmin series. It's amazing you pretty much summed up every reason why I loved it in this video
I've never actually played a Pikmin game, or even heard about it before your channel, but I am looking forward to the release of Pikmin 4, just so I can see why you're so passionate about it.
I get how you feel about pikmin. I've been playing the franchise since the beginning and i play 2 at least once a year. There is just something magical about it and its world that no other game really can really replicate
“Pikmin is the strangest Nintendo game.” Me: Oh so kid squids, plumbers who save princesses from a turtle, a pink ball that constantly has to save the universe from LITERAL GODS, elemental creatures controlled by children, people who can stretch their arms and fight for entertainment and talking animals living with a single human as their leader is all just normal stuff then?
Wait a second, you don't live in a town of anthropomorphic animals? Huh, next you'll tell me I can't actually go and catch elemental creatures and fight with them.
Arlo should do a huge hour long retrospective on the Pikmin games

As a biology student I just love how every enemy in pikmin 2 has a scientific name.
The descriptions and names are some of the most cozy vibes
@Pokémon & FF fan
That's what a scientific name is though
@Pokémon & FF fan
But aren't species-specific names to describe an animal translated into Latin, and THAT'S what the scientific name would be? For example, Galeocerdo Cuvier means tiger shark, and has the species name and the genus name for both words.
Then again, some animals are translated in a weird way, such as dinosaurs, which are often just things like allosaurus meaning 'different lizard'. Idk this whole thing is confusing.
@Pokémon & FF fan
Probably Panthera Pardus because it has 2 words instead of 1. 1 for species, other for genus?
@Pokémon & FF fan
Yeah, like I said, sometimes scientific names don't make sense lol. Pretty much every prehistoric animal has a dumb scientific name.
That's why they:
-Need a machine-like entity to reproduce.
Wow, that's a great theory! It makes a lot of sense. Cool idea!
Cool idea. My headcannon was always pikmin were just some evolution of ants in the far, far future. Similarly, all the creatures in the games are just future evolutions of current creatures
So kinda like, sea monkeys but useful?
Who would go and buy an Onion to grow Pikmin when you could just buy a Chibi-Robo?
Chibi-Robo is the competition. But when things started going downhill for the human race and energy production stopped Pikmin became more popular and functional which is why they are still available when Olimar comes to earth.

Thank you for fighting the good fight Arlo and informing people about this amazing franchise. It's also my favorite Nintendo franchise, gameplay wise. Kinda tied with Zelda... but that's just because Zelda has gotten so much more love. If there were as many Pikmin games as Zelda games, I'm sure Pikmin would be my top dog.
oh hello there
As a Pikmin fan myself I gotta say I’m in many ways glad there aren’t as many games.
"Olimar sucked"
I used to think that too.

That being said, I think you hit the nail on the head with everything else.

Especially watching the TH-camrs passionate about the game, like Chugaa, Dazz, and Arlo, are really enjoyable as you could see how much they love the games. Watching them is what got me into Pikmin in the first place.

My own little personal Pikmin story:
So, I was playing the first Pikmin game blind and I’ve gotten 28 ship parts, I had seen the arena in the Forest Navel where the Beady Long Legs battle takes place, but it scared me since I couldn’t see anything there, eventually I gathered the little courage I had and stepped in, the music began to play, but nothing was there, for a moment, I was dumbfounded, “was there really just nothing there?”
“Had the radar really lied to me?”
But before I could think enough it dropped from the sky, the Beady Long Legs and I freaked.
The next day, I woke up, and saw that my game had remained on, still on that horrific frame, I sat there, thinking about what I would have to face, how I would even beat this massive enemy, but I had to go to school for the day so I got ready continuing to leave the game on, once I got home I wasn’t ready, I once again sat on my bed, still thinking about how I would do this, but, gathering all my courage once again, like I had done the previous day, I pressed the A button and began what would be my most intense and memorable boss fight ever
I had brought all 3 types of Pikmin, seeing how almost useless yellows had been before I didn’t bring many in, but I knew this was their time, but with a squad of 100 Pikmin, the Long Legs easily crushed them, leaving me with no more yellows, just a few blues and reds, then I was only able to throw my Pikmin and attack when his core went down to taunt me, so I did, and after a long battle, my greatest foe in Pikmin was defeated, I had done it, I had overcome my overwhelming fear and defeated the Beast that plagued me and it was the most euphoric feeling ever, now, I had collected the 29th ship part and I was prepared to face The Final Trial, sadly that would have to wait since it was getting late and the next day I would be going to my Grandma’s house, once I got home again the final boss wasn’t much compared to the Beady Long Legs, but that memory is one that I’ll never ever forget.
Given that story, how was your experience with 2, if you've ever played it?
That one loooOOOooOOoOves its little(?), falling, surprises... ;)
I have a similar childhood story, with that game. Except I actually chose to run xD
long
I had a similar experience encountering the raging long legs in the 2 player mode of pikmin 2. The moment I saw it, I ran away. No hesitation.
still the final boss of Pikmin 1 with Emperor Bulblax is a rather tough fight if your not stunning him with bomb rocks (either tricking him into eating one or a yellow throwing it into his mouth....the latter is the better method as it does keep him stunned for longer)
and generally Emperor Bulblax changes how your fight as many of the enemies you wanna attack them from behind so you can get the jump on them 1st....the Bulborb king himself isn't like that at all since his body is too bouncy thus forcing you to attack him head on by throwing pikmin onto his face
still the final bosses on each Pikmin game are good with: Emperor Bulblax, the Titan Dweevil, the Plasm Wraith and lastly the Berserk Leech Hydroe (which for some reason Hydroe turns into a freaking DRAGON in the final phase )
Now every time I come back to Pikmin 2 and everytime I go to Perplexing Pools I always think about how it scared me and how silly I feel now expecting him to be there every time I deliberately walk over the donut that to him probably looks like a target to drop down and squash me.
honestly man, the first Pikmin is my favorite game ever and I'm just happy to hear someone else talk about it.
The thumbnail is too amazing
A giant arlo looms over the tiny yellow pikmin, whispering into its overly big ears "I love you"
I'm all in with you Arlo!
@@Hobbles_ completely agree with you on this. If they do end up porting it over, i hope they find a great solution for it that also works in handheld.
@@Hobbles_ no one played that shit on the Wii U xD

I know that feeling. Pikmin is great, but none of my friends love it. Their opinion of it ranges from "Meh" to "Don't care"
Sadly Pikmin has a bit of a niche audience. A small but strong fanbase. I am afraid that the fanbase might be to small for nintendo to care to much about the franchise anymore :(

Its really hard to make other people understand how it is "fun" without them playing the game. No wonder the advertisements aren't that effective.
It honestly looked like a lame game. Then I played it, er, all of them, because it's an AMAZING game trilogy.
There's something so funny in seeing this video as Pikmin 4 is about to release, when Arlo is mad about it not coming at all

Allow keep to quote awkward zombie:
"Let's make a game based entirely around micromanagement.

Arlo: unless we stop to take. Closer look!
Dialogue: I want a closer look
I see what you did there...
I want to see a Remastered Pikmin Trilogy for Switch
Today Pikmin 3 Deluxe was announced for the Switch, 1/3 of the way to go
@@tieguy895 3 remasters!
I really want this to happen now
I dropped a huge “F bomb,” yesterday while playing Pikmin 3 Deluxe, while I was sitting next to my wife.
Okay this explains the reaction. I got a little worried.
Me and you are one in the same Arlo.. I will never forget my childhood experience of playing Pikmin 1 and 2 on GameCube with my brother. THE MUSIC!❤Thank God for this game and me being able to play it in my childhood
The idea started from ants carrying things- fact
Anyone else find this after THE announcement?
Beautiful thumbnail. Utter perfection.
Oh no.
The Twitter memers.
*They’re coming.*
QUICK! Take cover!
The Pikmin subreddit has been insane the past while. I think they've lost their minds
@@Hobbles_ Insane? How so?
@@dromalloma2651 It's hard to even explain, you would have to just take a peak at that subreddit and see how their minds broke.
2:27 wow ARLO I see what you did “take a closer look”
I’ve never really had a problem with short length in games because that increases the replayability; you want to beat the game faster than you did before. Pikmin 1 and 3 excel at this, because of the day system that separates a fast play through into smaller, satisfying challenges. I’ve never been as much into Pikmin 2 because the cave system kinda ruins that flow (and the caves aren’t that interesting to begin with) All three are great games though.

I loved 1, but I just can’t get into 2. It’s a frustrating game.
@@Brinta3 true 2 is way too grindy
Anyone here when pikmin 3 deluxe has been announced
Pikmin one of the most underrated series. Please make more videos
"Why do i love pikmin so much?"
Because pikmin is one of the best game series ive played
I've never actually played a Pikmin game, or even heard about it before your channel, but I am looking forward to the release of Pikmin 4, just so I can see why you're so passionate about it.
11:10 Perfect Lip Sync
I get how you feel about pikmin. I've been playing the franchise since the beginning and i play 2 at least once a year. There is just something magical about it and its world that no other game really can really replicate
1:30 I glanced away for a half second and when I looked back, I just about fell out of my chair
*_You Got Spooked_*
Pleeeeeeas make more Pikmin content, Its so cool hearing people talk about and play it.
you bet your ASS i came back here after the announcement
I love going back to these videos and just imagining how past Arlo was so distraught about Pikmin 4 and now present Arlo is so excited.
Arlo: I love you, Pikmin
Pikmin: Thank You
You sold me, Arlo. Just picked up Pikmin 3 deluxe and I have never played a Pikmin game before.
“Pikmin is the strangest Nintendo game.”
Me: Oh so kid squids, plumbers who save princesses from a turtle, a pink ball that constantly has to save the universe from LITERAL GODS, elemental creatures controlled by children, people who can stretch their arms and fight for entertainment and talking animals living with a single human as their leader is all just normal stuff then?
Wait a second, you don't live in a town of anthropomorphic animals? Huh, next you'll tell me I can't actually go and catch elemental creatures and fight with them.
What about smash, where those weirdos fight for literally no reason?
yes
Compared to pikmin, yes
Chibi Robo too!
I’ve never played Pikmin, but I still love hearing you talk about it! Keep it up
I was so obsessed with Pikmin 2 when I was younger I read every single page of the Pikmin wiki.
