For those that don’t know, arlo tweeted that he is having some incapacitating neck problems resulting from his surgery. He did specifically say this might affect his ability to both make videos and play Pikmin 4. Here’s to a speedy recovery, Arlo. We love you. ❤❤

Arlo, I know you won't be able to make videos for a while because of your surgery complication, but I want you to know I'm going back and watching all your old videos I missed and playing Pikmin 4 in your honor. Hope you get your health issues sorted sooner rather than later, and thanks for helping me and a whole lot of other people share a love for Nintendo games!
The fact many fans were still children when the wait started and some of them now have kids of their own is pretty insane.

The 2000s were really just an insane time for videogames. So much cool and innovative stuff came out during that time in such a short time span. It felt like developers were perfecting 3d games just likey the did for 2d back on the snes and sega genesis. so cool.
It was the flashpoint right before HD made development prohibitively expensive and killed off niche titles. Look at how many of Nintendo's obscure series had swansongs on Gamecube.
@@KruelAidManfor once someone gives the actual reason why gaming has become such a high risk business. A lot of companies just can't afford anymore to make niche games with how expensive HD games are to make
We'll never have another console generation like the sixth ever again.
I first discovered the pikmin series though the videos you made about 3 deluxe back in 2020. Your enthusiasm about the series convinced me to pick up the game, and after my first play through I instantly fell in love. About half a year later I got my hands on a copy of the wii controls version of Pikmin 2 and spent my entire winter break playing the game, I can now say with confidence that Pikmin 2 is by far my favourite video game. I was also able to bond with my little brother through the Pikmin games. I introduced him to the games and he soon became as big of a fan as I am. Lastly, when Nintendo announced the Pikmin 1 and 2 ports to the switch I instantly bought 1 and played through the game and loved every second of it. Tomorrow I will be picking up my preordered copy of Pikmin 4 and playing it with my little brother. I know the likelihood of you reading this comment is low, but I want to sincerely thank you Arlo, for introducing me to a series that has brought me so much joy in these few last years. Your love for Pikmin is truly contagious and I hope you have a wonderful time playing Pikmin 4 for yourself.
Funny 3 is the one I like the least because of the swapping back and forth between two characters. Made it confusing af
Mutual feeling about the enthusiasm from Arlo & others regarding Pikmin 4 being announced all the way up to approaching release that got me interested in trying this one. I never tried the other Pikmin games & only vaguely acknowledged them when I was younger, but I have played some of Pikmin 4 and it's been great fun! A nice chill title to seperate myself from the usual action games I have been playing.
I've not done much on Pikmin 4 for a lil while now, but will be sure to continue playing soon! I transferred data from the demo to the full game when it came out & got to the zone after the demo location, so still got plenty to get through yet.
Also an extra note I'd like to add is that I was very impressed with the quality of the demo itself, the first time in many years I have tried a demo. I must have got a few hours of value out of it, which is how I feel a demo should be done; enough content to get you hooked & felt like you had the freedom to go on playing it indefinitely, without giving away too much of what the full game would have to offer.
As they say, "Good things come to those who wait." If that's the case, then I know _Pikmin 4_ will be phenomenal, and I can't wait.

There was honestly a time when i wondered whether or not pikmin 3 would come out during my Lifetime. Luckily that time has passed and now pikmin 4 is here which feels kinda like a fever dream in a way.

@@universesixhit642No is because 2 lacks difficult fun muti tasking gameplay. Every game after 1 holds your hand. Pikmin 2 is a easy joke. Only people who don't care to check everywhere first before grabbing their Pikmin think the caves are unfair
@@Wario1382 Tbf it's only easy mode if you use purple pikmin and the sprays.
Try not using purple pikmin for fights nor using any sprays you'll actually have to think about fights and boss battles more.

I wish the best for Arlo also but he mentioned on twitter that the recovery was going to be long and he wouldn't be able to record videos for a while.

Hey Arlo! This isn't related to the video, but I just wanna say I *LOVE* your voice acting in the new My Friendly Neighborhood game! Your voice fits the character perfectly! I usually comment this kind of unrelated thing under community posts, but you haven't made one in eight months so this is the only place I can really mention it :)
It's kind of insane he doesn't seem to have a video on it. He just casually dropped some stellar voice work for a game and went on with his day.

I was going to wait for the Pikmin 1 + 2 physical release to start my Pikmin journey, but after listening to your hour-long discussion I don't think I can wait that long. The story seems really intriguing and the fact that the game's super newcomer-friendly is great! I'll be grabbing my copy tomorrow and jumping in! I wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery!

When I was like 6 I went to a library and rented a copy of 3, I was in love, even thought I never could get farther then getting rocks before running out of juice, I was hooked. I told myself when i grew up I would play the next one and I can finally do it like 9 or so years later. I hope everyone loves this game and the series becomes a Nintendo staple

When I first played pikmin 3 I was six. Now I’m fifteen and in high school. It’s stayed my favourite series for all this time ❤
When Pikmin 1 and 2 came out i was 11 and 14 respectively loved both and 2 is in my top 20 games of all time. Now lol..... I am 33 with kids and we all love Pikmin 4. Nintendo has always and will always have that magic of bringing families together and bringing you the gamer back to your childhood. Sorry for the rant young blood enjoy your youth, time speeds up as you get older. 😅❤️🎮
Originally I couldnt care less about Pikmin in the directs, but I saw your reaction to the Pikmin 4 trailer and just had to look deeper. The demo came out and I must have put 10 hours into it within 3 days. Honestly went from dismissive to loving this series in a week. The fan base seems so wholesome (especially arlo) and I'm just so exited to play this new game the minute it releases.
Lets hope that the Switch works it magic with Pikmin 4 the way it did with Kirby and Zelda and Metroid.
These last 2 zeldas were so disappointing I haven't had a good one to play in a while

Weird to see Zelda in there with Kirby and Metroid. Hasn't Zelda always been very popular? I don't feel like it needed the boost or benefited from a boost like Kirby and Metroid. And hopefully Pikmin.

My girlfriend got me into Pikmin about two months ago on a trip to a country I've to never been before. I went from being afraid of Pikmin 1 to utterly engrossed and immersed in its natural world and mysterious, otherworldly vibes. Visiting a new place was scary, but immensely comforting all the same. It felt like the first time I had confronted that emotion in years, and I fell in love with it.
Pikmin has been so incredibly special to me these last two months, and I'm so happy I'm getting to experience all *4* of these journeys now, all one right after another. Couldn't be happier to see the fourth installment through with you all
I am genuinely upset at myself for never playing pikmin as a kid. I played and beaten 3 Deluxe recently and absolutely adored it. I've always thought Pikmin was boring but I unexpectedly loved it and I'm unbelievably excited to play Pikmin 4!
Since I have been actively waiting for Pikmin 4 (2014), I:
- Graduated high school and college
- Moved to different cities a couple of times
- Worked multiple part-time and full time jobs outside my career
- I became fully independent
- Lost several friends and family members along the way
- Got engaged about a month prior to the game's final release date.
And I, needless to say, replayed the heck out of all previous games because, much like in Arlo's case, they act as a safe place of sorts.
I still can't believe we're here...
I am so happy, the wait was so so long that I can't even believe that it's here at all... the time couldn't be more perfect for it to stand on its own and let people finally see the little series that could get up and display itself proudly

As someone who had never even heard of pikmin before i found Arlo, i am thankful to say that i will be playing pikmin 4 in 20 minutes and could not be happier about it.
how is the game?
For me it's a awesome addition to my collection of switch games I have played it everyday so far since launch. It's that good I would Def play it just to hear the pikmin sing tunes rarely sometimes.

Y'know it's the weirdest thing. I don't care about Pikmin at all, but somehow Arlo's excitement over it has me excited about it. I dunno, he's just got that kind of infectious joy to him that I can't help be be happy to see him happy about it.

I first go interested in Pikmin thanks to your videos! I played 3 deluxe earlier this year and ever since I’ve been absolutely obsessed. It’s one of my favorite video game series period! Hope you feel better soon.
My girlfriend and I just recently started the series with the release of Pikmin 1+2. We've loved em both so far, hard to even pick a favorite. We're finishing up 2 this weekend with Submerged Castle as a fill-in for a final boss, and then moving on to pikmin 4 next time we see each other.
In the span of like 2 weeks we've both become endlessly obsessed. One of the biggest things holding us back from even playing more is that we're so in love with the stupid little dwarf bulborbs and how strange they are that we're making little ones out of clay together.
I've also been playing Pikmin Bloom for about 2 weeks now and it's already made a big impact on my health, I'm losing weight, walking more, and just enjoying life more.
Pikmin has literally changed my life in 2 weeks. Even if just small things like losing a few pounds cuz of pikmin 2 so I can fit into crop tops better, or influencing my art. All these little changes mean a lot as a whole, and it's awesome knowing that even after Pikmin 4, we can play through 3 Deluxe along with all the bonus content, and even try out bingo and dandori battle modes! There's so much to love as a new pikmin fan right now. It's awesome!

What’s crazy for me isn’t really the wait necessarily, but the fact that 2013 was 10 years ago…
Pikmin may not be quite my thing from what I've seen, but my nephew has made his excitement for the game very clear to me recently. Told me he used to binge watch ChuggaConroy's playthroughs of the first two games religiously, and he really enjoyed 3DX when that came out, so I'm really happy for him now that 4 is out too.

Just finished the main story mission in pikmin 4. My first ever pikmin game, got it mostly because of arlos insane fan levels and how he gushes over this series so much, I thought to myself "well now seems like the perfect time to jump in". And it certainly was, pikmin 4 is a great game. No buts or ifs. Do not know how it compares to the previous ones but on it's own I think it's great. If you haven't played it yet, go do that right now. Trust me.
Pikmin 3 came out when I was in middle school. Now, I’m going to college.😅 This franchise has always been close to my heart, and I can’t wait to play this new installment. This night’s gonna take foreverrrr

Pikmin 1 was my first video game I ever played and now just finishing pikmin 4. No matter how much time passes stay true to the things you loved as a kid.
I got into pikmin because of Arlo and now I'm obsessed. Genuinely thankful for that.
My girlfriends 8 year old brother is taking the day off from summer camp today to play through Pikmin 4. He told me (while playing through 1 and 2) Pikmin 4 would be his favorite game of all time, right above tears of the kingdom. Most of his other 8 year old friends agree. Our weird little series is definitely growing :)

Your excitement is so wholesome and I just love it. I love these games, even though I'm a newer fan (Pikmin 3 Deluxe was my first encounter). I have now played all of the games since they were ported to the Switch and, though one and two may have about given me a heart attack, I do appreciate the journey that Pikmin has gone through.
I had just graduated from being a sophomore and I still remember begging my parents to get me a Wii U just for Pikmin 3. Ahh the memories…
when i started pikmin, i saw the trailer for the first game on the luigis mansion disk, i was just, floored by what i saw, it was so different and unique, my family proceeded to rent pikmin one to see if id like it, and then got pikmin 2 for me, i waited for pikmin 3 basically from day one of the wii coming out. and then 3 came out, in the time 3 came out, i went from kindergarten to middle school, i started playing online fps and RTS games like warcraft. so many life events happened in the span of 3s release, i remember waiting for this game and having family members who were waiting with me literally die in the time of the wait. it was upsetting but i think it really kinda shows why the wait and lack of any content for us stings, and why other communities getting frustrated for not getting updates or news sucks. in the wait for pikmin 4, i graduated highschool, i got a job, i met my fiance, i met and lost so many people, and now this new game is here.
i think the moral of the story here is to keep living your life while you wait and enjoy what you have? i mean being a fan of half life and pikmin have taught me that.

I remember when I was 4 or 5, playing pikmin 2 on the Wii for the first time and just falling in love with the series. A few years later, I got the pikmin 3 demo on the Wii but I wasn’t able to play it. Then out of the blue, my dad bought it for me. I have just sunk so much time into that game. I’ve always wanted to play the first pikmin but it just wasn’t available. Now, I have pikmin 4 and the first pikmin nearly in my grasp. I just can’t wait!
Pikmin 2 is the game that got me into the series. I was obsessed with it when I was young. Pikmin 3 came out around when I graduated high school.. and now here we are with Pikmin 4. I graduated COLLEGE and went through a few jobs in the time period of waiting for Pikmin 4. Now it’s just.. here. It exists and we are going to be playing it. It feels surreal, but I’m so happy that it is finally here.
After hearing about Arlo being in a health scare at the time I’m making this comment, I really hope he recovers well and soon and gets to enjoy Pikmin 4. Seeing him be so excited and happy about this series brings a lot of inspiration and joy, and I want him to enjoy it as much as he has enjoyed the series so far, and then some. He deserves more joy and happiness and I’m sure he will love Pikmin 4. Get well soon, Arlo.
I remember I never got far in Pikmin, because I couldn't figure it out and the thought I could fail and Olimar would die scared me.
Then I played the demo for 4, and now I'm like "how did I not get into this?"
The wait for pikmin 4 was the decade i was growing up, Going from a naive 12 year old to a sadly, Rather jaded 22 year old has been such a long journey but i am incredibly grateful to have this nugget of just pure warm and fuzzy feelings that i have missed dearly. I had a similar experience to you where I played Pikmin 3 a few years ago and really enjoyed it but this year I played the whole series and found it to really resonate with me at this point in my life and now think of it as one of my favorite things ever. I feel a little guilty I haven't waited the same ten years as some other Pikmin fans, but I'm so glad to be a part of this community and witness new Pikmin history
I just want to say Arlo, you are the reason why I'm a pikmin fan too. It's because of your videos and your love of this franchise that I was convinced to give it a try. My first every into this series was Pikmin 3 Deluxe, and I LOVED IT. I got the Pikmin 2 HD port for the Switch too, my brothers and I had a blast playing versus mode. And now I'm right here with Pikmin 4 in my hands. Thank you so much for introducing me to this wonderful series.

it's absolutely bonkers to me to think of how long it's been, i remember playing pikmin 1 in first grade in elementary school and i just graduated from college a few months ago, ive never been this amped up for a game coming out before, like, literally ever, hopefully im not a senior citizen by the time the next game comes out
Man i hate to get mushy or dramatic, but this series was and remains very important to me. I was allowed around 6 hours a week to play games, 3 on saturday 3 on sunday. i lived in a household full of fighting, neglect, abuse, etc. Those few times where i wasn't occupied taking care of my younger siblings, when i wasn't grounded for things out of my control, when i wasn't worrying about how hungry i was or how scared or stressed or anything, i would be lost in another world.
When i got pikmin 2 i was immediately drawn to its art style. i loved biology and insects especially, i felt they were always misunderstood and people were quick to hurt them for no reason. the cuteness of the pikmin, the fun stress of multi-tasking and trying to keep all your pikmin alive, the unique treasures, it was such an experience. but most importantly were the treasure hoard and the piklopedia. during a time where i was constantly put down for being unintelligent, and being chalked up to a burden or worse for trying to ask questions and learn, i had the stupidly funny quotes from olimar and louie (and the ship.) Reading their descriptions on what the treasures could possibly be, how the organisms worked, how to cook them best, they taught me SO many words. Such an extensive vocabulary from such a weird game!! It's genuinely this game, as well as Paper Mario TTYD, Earthbound, and some others that i owe MUCH of my (admittedly still shallow) understanding of many words and humor and beyond.
At the end of the day pikmin is just a series. it's not a perfect one and it didn't save me from my circumstances, but i'll never forget the spectrum of pain i felt during my childhood, and how happy i was to eventually get pikmin 1, and then 3. i even saved up for Deluxe just to read that piklopedia. and now my own brothers are getting into the series! I truly started to give up hope for a competent pikmin 4 ever releasing, and when i saw that first trailer I lost my mind.
Thank you to anyone who reads this, maybe it'll be lost to time never read, but for anyone who does: KEEP GOING!!! life is hard af, i'm nowhere near where i want to be in life yet. i'm not going to lie and pretend that everything gets easier automatically. until then, always get back up. keep running till you hit a wall, then find a way to overcome it. never stop growing, learning about yourself, others, the world around you. And when everything gets too much, allow yourself to enjoy the little things. smoothies, that sensation of a refreshing shower, a sad song that knocks you over, pikmin, writing down your thoughts, a tiring exercise, the moon, whatever it may be. I believe in you, and you deserve it!! never stop fighting!

I was always aware about Pikmin's existence as a series and what it was about but never knew a ton about it and wasn't super compelled. However after seeing how dedicated and passionate the Pikmin community was for the series through videos like yours, and seeing how excited people are for Pikmin 4, I decided that I really want to try the series and support it. I'm about to go into Pikmin 4 and I just want to say thank you, Arlo.

I've been in the community since Christmas 2013, when I got a Wii U for christmas when I was but a wee lad. Since then I've grown, and so has Nintendo- for better or for worse... Hearing the main theme on the title screen whenever I launched it for the first time today was truly something special. Admittedly, I questioned the first 15 or so minutes for the overuse of dialogue... but after sticking through, I am more than proud to say I nearly shed a few tears with how brilliant the game is. It's been a long journey, but we've finally reached the destination. Cheers boys!
It’s crazy to think about just how long this wait has been. I got super into Pikmin about a year after Pikmin 3 came out, and between then and now, the entire Splatoon franchise was invented and given 3 mainline titles, Breathe of the Wild was released AND it’s sequel, and the Wii, Wii-U and 3DS Eshops have been shut down. The wait has been insane, but honestly it’s made the announcement and release of 4 one of my most memorable gaming experiences, and I haven’t even played it yet!
This is my favorite Pikmin video I’ve watched. It gave me all the warm, fuzzy nostalgia feels of a time long gone while also helping me appreciate Pikmin 4 being here even more (of course, I was listening while playing!) Thank you for this, Arlo. Wonderful stuff.
I definitely think that putting the first two games on switch was a very smart decision from a marketing standpoint. It gave a lot of people the chance to play the series from the beginning, and watching all the first timer clips on twitter was amazing. I'm so happy to see this series grow
as a pikmin fan for almost as long as arlo, this video made me feel such a bittersweet (but mostly sweet) feeling.
Arlo is THE reason I bought this game. I am absolutely loving it, and I'm a bit sad that I had not experienced this series before.

Talking about the gap between 3 and 4 and how life has changed you made me reflect on my own life and oh boy between Pikmin 3 and 4 I have changed a lot.
When Pikmin 3 came out I couldn't even afford it, I had no money, was at University and was in a really bad place. But now a decade later, I'm a video game designer and have shipped two amazing video games, and proudly bought Pikmin 4 on day 1 and absolutely loved it just as much as 1 and 2 growing up.
Life does change, but our love for games never falters ❤
Y’know, it’s weird thinking about the fact that I was 10 years old when the last Pikmin game came out. But man am I glad we’re finally here.
I just got back from Japan last week, and it warmed my heart to see how much marketing Nintendo is putting behind Pikmin 4 there. Video ads on the trains, Pikmin merchandise at a number of stores, the Pikmin cameo at Super Nintendo World in Osaka, a giant billboard above Don Quijote in Shinjuku, sweepstakes to win a copy of Pikmin 4 on a fruit sandwich at 7 11 even!
Thanks Arlo! watching your videos got me to play pikmin 3 deluxe which my little sister bought a while ago because she thought the pikmin were cute, I played it this year co op with my sister, we’re now fans of this awesome game, so my pikmin wait has been like a month, so excited to play the new game!
I still remember unwrapping Pikmin 1 as a birthday gift when I was only four or five years old, I remember how much I struggled with it, I remember gnawing on the case cause I had two braincells rubbing against each other. Pikmin's charm, though, is what stuck with me. I remember finding out there was a sequel and feeling like I had found gold where nobody else had. I remember 2013 Christmas day when there was a Wii U underneath the tree and soon after a copy of Pikmin 3 in my hands... And now here we are, ten years later. I'm a full grown adult with a job and a loving boyfriend, fully graduated, and Pikmin is still here for me. Just as it's been throughout every stage of my life. I love this series so much, it means so much to me, and I hope everybody reading this has such a monumentally wonderful time with it.

I think what’s good about Pikmin is that each entry offers something different and each had a worthwhile reason to play them. Doesn’t matter if others are ‘better’ sometimes you just need to burn through 1 in an evening
For almost a decade, Arlo kept the hope of Pikmin 4 alive. He practically willed this game into existence. Good things come to those who wait and in the case of Pikmin 4, the wait was definitely worth it.
The Pikmin 3 missions really show how you can reuse the same level structure for a lot of different challenges. Shoot, they had a level to get fruits, a remix of that, the same level to beat enemies, and then a remix of that. 4 levels from the same structure but with stuff moved around. They could have kept going for sure
When I just turned 10, I got Pikmin 3 on Wii U with some Christmas money I had left over, and boy I played the heck out of that story mode. I would have my own personal expeditions I would make in my head, and pretend I was going through some disease ridden, wasteland planet. The juice rations helped fuel my post-apocalyptic head canon I had, and I had so much fun with it. I imposed a Pikmin number limit on myself cause “the onion is sick and can’t have as many Pikmin out!”, and now it’s funny that concept is an actual game mechanic now. I’m so happy Pikmin is getting the outreach and support it’s getting now, cause I know it’s fueling some kid’s crazy imagination cause of it. So exited to play Pikmin 4 and experience that same child-like amazement again!

Pikmin 4…! Loooong ago, I was a little kid on Christmas morning, and I remember my brother getting Pikmin 1. Knowing that over my entire life, essentially, this new game is only the FOURTH in the mainline franchise - that’s crazy! After TotK it makes me sad how many people treat Pikmin 4 like it’s some sort of filler title on Nintendo’s part. It’s huge!! A new mainline entry in a major franchise. We’re so lucky! And the game wound up being beautiful!
as someone who got into pikmin when the first game came out, its so cool that they ported the old games to the switch. the surge of people drawing art and making vids and such is so cool.i feel like as a series it didnt have very much at all of that, especially because of when it first came out. but its so nice to see so many people discover it :')

I'm going to say this Arlo, but it's been twenty one years since my siblings and I once played both Pikmin 1 and 2 on the gamecube. We all grew up with 5th and 6th generation consoles, with me saying the 7th generation was the last console generation I cared about before I left it behind in 2010. I myself was one of those whom have kept tracked and heard of Pikmin up until this point. I've known how long it took to make the 4th game and go from there. And yeah, it's nearly a decade since the last game came out, with the deluxe version coming out 6 years later on the switch from the Wii U.
The irony is I just went on like a near 2 week long binge of pretty much every video you made from the Paper Mario review to the recent Direct Discussion. So when this video came out I knew I planned perfectly and I did not disappoint. I hope you can finally melt into your chair and play the game you've dreamed of for so long. You deserve with how many times you predicted or discussed it these last few years. :)

I’ve always been a late adopter. Got a used GameCube in 2005 and my roommate recommended Pikmin 1 and 2 to me. Was hooked since then. Like you said, lots of life changes happen in a decade or more. Fast forward to last year when I bought a Switch (see, late adopter) and caught up with Pikmin 3. All that old love came back. So much so that I bought Pikmin 4 on release day!
Thanks to this channel for reigniting my love of Pikmin. Now in my 40s with a kid, a dog, the whole thing and I get to keep playing Pikmin! Or as my husband calls it, alien chores 😂

Pikmin 4 was the first game that I have ever anticipated. I was 8 years old when I was introduced to Pikmin 3 and I thought to myself "this game is so great! I hope they make another one!" I had never had that kind of thought before. Games were just games to me, Mario Galaxy was just Mario Galaxy, Super Mario World was just that. The idea of making a sequel game was not something I ever thought about until Pikmin 3. I was in elementary school when I started waiting for Pikmin 4, and to say I've changed as a person is a severe understatement. In the time waiting for Pikmin I hit the double digits in age, I became a teenager, I learned what it really means to have a friend, I fell I love, my heart was broken, I found family, I lost family, all of the shows I used to watch had their final episodes air, Ash became the very best, Banjo & Kazooie are in Smash. Now, I'm an adult fresh out of high school, living my life and making my own decisions as a person. After waiting the majority of my life and experiencing all of the hardships, it's as if the world has finally decided I'm ready as a person to experience the very thing I dreamed of so long ago. The very first thing I did today when I woke up was boot up Pikmin 4, and it felt like a journey coming to a happy and peaceful end.
