    That’s a nice tune I have it in my e36. Also seen that you plugged the vanos solenoid to the fuel rail. It should plug into a small harness with a “Y” split, One for the solenoid and one for the fuel rail.

      @JamDrifts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So turns out that harness with the "Y" split you're talking about was not originally part of the engine harness at all. Those connectors were added later when a recall was put out for faulty crankshaft position sensors. My guess is that the car that my engine came out of wasn't affected by the recall and therefore did not need the subharness.
      Thanks for pointing that out though because I imagine that will be a point of confusion for some people using my videos as a "how to".

    Congrats! I'm at the same stage with the same swap in a Z3. I didn't do an ews delete so naturally that gave me a bit of trouble but she runs great. Now to tackle the cooling system and shifter. Keep going!

      Thanks man I appreciate the kind words! If you're looking for a good shifter I would look into the PMC chassis mounted short shifter. I've been running it for a while and it's super nice for the price.

    I know Im a little late, but you mentioned a subharness for the crank position sensor thats in the earlier models i think. Do you have any further information on that? Im trying to find out what these plugs are for, would be sick if you could help

    So it’s pretty much plug an place besides the coding for dme I wonder if it’s the same for z3

    • @JamDrifts
      @JamDrifts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From my limited research it seems like it should be just as plug and play on the z3. Of course you’ll need to take into account which OBD version you’ll be running based on the year of your z3 but the process should be nearly identical to the swap on the 318ti.

    Hey!
    I want to do something like you did. I have a M50b25 out of an Automatic car and want to put it in a Manuel 316i. Is there any problem with starting and reverse light?

    • @tiimjb
      @tiimjb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wiring harness is out of the automatic 325i and needs to go into the Manuel 316i

    • @JamDrifts
      @JamDrifts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’ll need to do some wiring to get the reverse lights working. I don’t know the specifics since I didn’t feel like doing it on my swap but there is plenty of info on the forums about it. If you’re using the ecu that came out of the automatic it’ll search for the transmission control module so you’d need that hooked up too. Since my ecu and harness came out of an automatic too I ended up just getting the ecu tuned as if it came out of a manual so it wouldn’t need the transmission control module. Along with that you’ll need to have the EWS immobilizer system tuned out depending on the year of 325 it came out of.

      The fuse box is the same as the 4 cylinder but you’ll need the engine harness for your specific engine.

    • @JamDrifts
      @JamDrifts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man sorry for the late reply! To my understanding a pre 1998 e39 m52 wiring harness will work. In 1998 they moved to the dual vanos m52 which won’t work with the single vanos m52
