    With the help of this video, I was able to pull an M52 and ZF trans at the junkyard in just under five hours. This video is honestly a godsend. I've been working on cars and had my license for less than a year and even I could figure it out with this video's help. Couldn't have asked for a better tutorial. Thanks so much for y'all help.

    If you’re doing this I highly recommend doing the steering linkage like he said, my oil pan got stuck on it constantly and couldn’t clear it and I sat there looking stupid trying to go around it for two hours.

    Awesome video! Very spot on. I unbolted my subframe and brought it down along with the engine and transmission attached, and disconnected the steering linkage to not drain the power steering, or disconnect my a/c condenser. Then I attached new mounts all around to the subframe and lifted the engine back up from the bottom, because trying to get the engine to sit on the motor mounts from up top is tricky. If I had to do it all over again, I would always remove everything through the bottom of the car.

    That's brave to get underneath an e36 without goggles. The sound deadening on mine would crumble, and I assume had so much sand caked in, I'd remove a bolt, then spend 30 minutes eye washing, and it was absolutely miserable working like that. I had eye protection. I invested in bigger goggles after that day - but it was always very difficult getting underneath that car.

    Ok, I need a few questions answered before I make my life miserable. First, I labelled all my wire connections. I was planning on leaving the wire harness with the driving car. Second, or first, I am swapping motors with identical cars. 2000 z3 2.5 manual. What wires needs to stay with the motor. Can I just use the same wiring harness that is on the driving car for the new motor? Another words, can I leave everything with the good car and just plug it in the replaced motor?
    Denver native living in CS. I also have a spare 2000 z3 whole, needing to find a new place to sit. Wanna give it a new life?
    Very good video I am very appreciative to contributions and efforts. Good people make a better world, thank ypu.

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes on the engine swap. As long as both engines are m52tub25 you can simply install it and then plug in all of the sensors.
      Secondly. We would love a free Z3 shell. We have a 4-cylinder Z3 that was supposed to be a car that was for any and everyone to drive, but it is still fighting us on being reliable. It would be cool to have twin cars.

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @oba femi that swap is a little more in depth but you will need e36 engine arms, and an EWS deleted ecu from e46/e39 of the same year your motor was made, and preferably a swap harness from kassle performance.

    • @outtlaw324
      @outtlaw324 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Denver Beer & Oil I have the whole e46 330i the car runs fine and everything I basically have it for the motor, does me having the car make things easier?

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL
      @DENVERBEERANDOIL  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does, but basically the only thing you will be using is the engine/trans. the e46 uses can bus for tach and water temp readings and won't simply work without a swap harness. You will need an EWS deleted DME to start/run the engine in another car, BMW security will not let that engine run without the properly coded key and ews module that will be extremely difficult to transfer into an e36 chassis.
