  • Dynamic Captions is a highly anticipated feature in Camtasia 2024! I'm excited to show you this game-changing addition, perfect for enhancing your social media clips and video projects with eye-catching animated captions. In this video, I'll guide you through the entire process of using dynamic captions in Camtasia, from transcription to customization.
    We start with a quick demo using a podcast clip with my friend Chris Menard. The first step is transcription, which Camtasia 2024 now handles automatically on your device with its built-in transcription engine. No need for cloud services! I'll show you how to add your video file to the timeline and switch your project to full HD.
    Adding dynamic captions is straightforward. Navigate to the captions tab on the sidebar where you'll find a variety of animated caption styles. Simply drag a style to your timeline, and Camtasia transcribes the audio automatically, displaying the text on screen. You can then customize these captions extensively-adjust fonts, colors, transition styles, speeds, and placement.
    If the automatic transcription isn't perfect, you can easily edit specific words. Just click on the audio file, and the transcription will appear in a box below. Select the word you want to change, click, type the correction, and hit enter. I also discuss some wishlist features, like importing pre-corrected transcriptions and having Camtasia align them automatically.
    For customization, you can tweak various aspects of the captions. Change fonts, sizes, and colors, or highlight current words with different colors. You can even make past words less visible and future words more transparent. Adjust background colors, opacity, and corner radius for a polished look. Timing and transition effects add an extra layer of dynamism to your captions, making them slide or pop between words and lines.
    Want to create and reuse a unique look? Save your customized caption style as a preset for future projects. This feature is perfect for maintaining a consistent style across all your videos. I demonstrate how to do this and even how to add multiple captions to different parts of your screen.
    This new feature is a huge time-saver and a fantastic tool for anyone creating video content, especially for social media. Whether you're making vertical clips for Instagram or full-length TH-cam videos, dynamic captions can significantly enhance viewer engagement.
    Let me know in the comments if you plan to use this feature for your social media clips-I know I will! Thanks for watching, and don't forget to subscribe for more Camtasia tips and tutorials.

    Funny how exciting this is, lol.
    But it's very nice to be able to create presets for different purposes/projects/clients.
    Very good stuff my man!
    It's awesome that transcription is integrated and automatic!

      Indeed! It seems it also auto-detects other languages. Requests I've seen since the launch:
      - allow editing and adding in missing words
      - exporting the transcript
      - changing to all caps

      @@Graphicious Those requests make sense, especially the first two.

    I like the possibility of using this for lyric videos.

      Sounds interesting but I wonder if the AI engine will be able to transcribe accurately when there's music present.

    would you be able to export the captions. It would be great to take the captions from the video and put it into chat gpt, and create a summory, description or article of your video, using the captions as reference text.

      Unfortunately, it's not possible to export the transcribed captions at this point. Hoping that comes soon though, it's a question I tend to get right after mentioning the dynamic captions. I think Techsmith is careful to not make this compete with Audiate too much ;)

    Have you found a way to add more words to the transcription window? It skips the first 4 words and will let me fix the later wrong words, but not add the missing.

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      No, I don't think it supports that at the moment. Even if you could somehow add the missing words, you'd need a way to align them to the audio properly, and Camtasia doesn't do re-alignment of words to audio like Descript does.
      I tried and it is possible to edit one word and type two words instead, if say, a word was missing somewhere, but it would end up just considering it one word and play it at the same time as that timestamp was there initially.
      For more advanced editing like this you'd probably need Audiate or something else.

    How to use another languages?

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I am not sure, I have not tried it with other languages but I think it just assumes English for now. I will try to look into it.

      I tried it with spanish audio and it transcribed spanish words, so I guess it auto-detects the language somehow.

      Interesting. I'll have to test this myself. I wonder if they have a list of languages somewhere.
