I had a ton of fun making this video with Camtasia, and even had the opportunity to use Dynamic Captions Timing to adjust a few of the captions in the video! 🙌
@@SBDavin You can do that now! If you're on the "Captions >> Dynamic Captions" tab, and select the media that has been transcribed, you can see all of the transcription words and change them to fix mis-typed words. :)
That's awesome! Making content faster has almost a direct correlation to making more content. Glad to hear Camtasia's Dynamic Captions are helping to drive that for you!
I'm excited about this feature. I requested it a long time ago and super pleased to see the developers have not only incorporated dynamic captions into Camtasia 2024 but they keep improving the functionality. Absolutely thrilled.
I'm really looking forward to this. I use Captions on our TH-cam videos that we make for our german channel. I couldn't do it w/o captions! Thanks for the continued work on this feature!
For us in Denmark the problem is the transcription isn't good for Danish as you can't edit the transcription result. The result is that the feature as is isn't useful for us. We need being able the edit, add and delete word's. It would be super being able to upload a closed caption file and work from there...
Thanks for the reminder to try dynamic captions. They're much better than I'd remembered when I tried them briefly when they launched. BUT, I don't seem to be able to save updated settings on any of the dynamic captions presets. The + button does nothing. Is this a bug? I'll send you a support ticket to make sure this is captured.
Hmm, this should work fine @espirian In fact, the Dynamic Caption I'm using in this video is a preset that I built and used. If you send in the support ticket, I'm sure they can help you figure out what's going on.
@@KellyRushTechSmith thanks, Kelly. I created a new Camtasia project and fiddled a bit, and now I've got my new preset saved, so it's all good. Not sure what happened the first time but the + button was accepting cursor action but not doing anything, and there weren't any other dialogue boxes taking focus away from what I was doing. Weird but probably just a temporary glitch. I've now told my private community to try dynamic captions. I hope they like it, too!
@@espirian Weird! I'll have QA poke at it a bit to see if they notice anything. Glad you have it working now, and thanks for spreading the word to your community about Dynamic Captions in Camtasia! 🙌
The transcription is about 2,000% more accurate than it was not long ago. I was shocked it made just 3 mistakes in a 1minute test I just ran. A couple of years ago or so, it was so bad it was quicker to do it all manually.
Yes Arabic should be supported by the speech engine we use. If you want to see how it works in practice, we have a free trial! www.techsmith.com/download/camtasia/
If you transcribe your content in Audiate, you can send it to Camtasia and it will pick up the transcription and generate Dynamic Captions from that. Super easy!

Once Ive clicked on the purple line and it changes to (Zoom in to edit transcript timing) is there a way to minimize it to bring it back to it's original state?
Toward the top left-hand corner of the timeline area, you should see a dropdown that says "Transcript". Above that, there's a toggle button labeled with an arrow/carat (^) that can be clicked to toggle on and off the "transcript tray". There is also a default keyboard shortcut to toggle it, Ctrl + T. At least on Windows.
You sure can! Over on the upper-left side of the timeline, you should see a drop-down menu that says "Transcript". Above that is an up/down arrow button, and clicking that should hide/show the captions (or markers, or quizzes, whichever you have visible).
@@KellyRushTechSmith I was trying everything to get the purple line to minimize like double clicking on it, or dragging down, but nothing was working! Who knew it was so simple? Not me, LOL! Thank you, Kelly, for helping me figure it out :)
The background is a custom one that I made, which itself is a combination of a few of Camtasia's Dynamic Backgrounds. The "grainy" look comes from the "Checkerboard" Dynamic Background (which you can find by searching in the "Camtasia Assets" tab), set to a really small value, and then added above another gradient Dynamic Background with a blend mode applied. If enough people like it, maybe I'll put it on the Camtasia Asset Service. 🙂
We're unable to export those captions right now but is feedback we've heard from quite a few users. Hopefully that's something we can add in the future!
1. click the captions tab 2. make sure the audio you are trying to change is selected on the timeline 3. you can then edit any text We have a helpful tutorial here too: bit.ly/4fWHgMi Hope that helps!
Since Camtasia 8.6 UI was changed I've never used any other version. I've tried modern versions but it felt bad for my eyes. I like the clarity of that UI. The modern one is too gray and non-colorful for me. The sliders and transitions are more clear in that version. And everything about basic edition (audio, callouts...) I feel that is better in my opinion in the timeline. It is not the same feeling with the modern versions, everything is so unclear. If you could change the UI to make it similar to 8.6 I'd use modern versions of Camtasia. Please, consider to make an optional UI for the users that like older versions and could also even change some functionalities.
How do I prevent dynamic captions from trying to caption my other audio files that I have on the timeline? It's captioning my music and video clips I have silenced. Please help!
Utter Garbage. I have a speaker with a French accent but speaking in English, the Dynamic Captions generated Garbage text in French....I tried a different speaker with a French accent and it did the same even though they were speaking English.
Sorry you didn't have a better experience! We're largely at the mercy of the AI engine we're using, but if you're willing to reach out to support and share your example, we might be able to use it to tweak how we process the audio.

Are avatars coming into Camtasia?
They are coming to Camtasia Pro tier (and Camtasia Audiate) this year.
How to move/remove a gap?
I have a gap on the transcription but not in the audio. This messes up the transcription.
It might be worth asking our tech support team what to do in this case bit.ly/techsmith-help

Dynamic Captions will only look for audio on tracks below it. So if possible, position the music track above the dynamic caption.
