Yes, Techsmith Crew: this is EXACTLY what Camtasia has been crying out for!! Fantastic! 10/10
Love the new speech-to-text! Now to text-to-speech with various voice selections :)
We currently offer a variety of voice selections with text-to-speech in Audiate, which can be bundled together in the Camtasia Create or Camtasia Pro packages! www.techsmith.com/store/camtasia
This is a fantastic upgrade!
Thanks Nick! 🎉
I have one word for you: FINALLY!
Excited to see this as part of the latest version! I won't have to export to another program to do this work now.
I am so glad to see this as a new feature.
Huge upgrade, love this!!
So glad I do not have to leave Camtasia now!
As always, you guys continue to serve up awesome improvements! Thanks TechSmith!
Thank YOU, Micki! 👏
I love it!!! So happy for Dynamic Captions!
Thank you SO much for this feature!
This is outstanding!
It gets better by the day.
OMG - game changer! GREAT work Camtasia.
Thanks! 🎉
Thank you, this is great.
Epic update!
finally, this is what I was waiting 😍😍😍
Superduper!! Thank you 🙂
Nice! Downloading the update.
Thanks Dee! Let us know what you think when you've had a chance to dig in!
Good addition of text to speech 👌
Glad you like it! 🎉
AMAZING…YES…FINALLY!! You guys are the best
This is fantastic! Nice job on the video too. :)
Thank you! 🎉
I have in the past been using Camtasia as my vid editor, always looking at OTHER editors just to get the captions . . . THANK YOU for finally adding this feature ! ! I am hoping it works well ! If so, Camtasia will be the ONLY editor I need. Thanks again.
We're glad to hear you're so excited about this feature!
Awesome upgrade. Can’t wait to use this!!!
bout time! Thanks for the update!!!
HELL YEAH - thanks so much, looking forward to trying this out!
AMAZING!
Wow, what a great addition, thanks!
Best update. Waiting for this for SO long
The nice one! 👏
I started back in 2014 with Camtasia 8, but my laptop crashed I had it on and wanted to upgrade to the new one but lost my key and couldn't retrieve it because I bought it through a 3rd party. I purchased this version of 2024 ...and BOY I am happy to be back!!!
So glad to have you back! 🎉🎉
So very, very cool
Woah! Phenomenal update! 😎😎
love it, so awesome
Amazeballs! Love this feature and now I can use it right inside Camtasia, no more third party editing for me - yay!
We love helping get people to 'done' faster! 🥳
AWESOME!!
Wow. 😍
Awesome
Does it work in other languages or only in english? I'd like it to have Brazilian portuguese option for automatic captions.
It does! Dynamic Captions work in dozens of languages and Portuguese is on that list!
@@techsmith Amazing! Thank you!
This is one of the best features of camtasia. It was missing, thank you. Is it compatible with Spanish and other languages?
Dynamic Captions in Camtasia 2024 work in dozens of different languages! Some work better than others, but there should be pretty decent support for many different languages.
Thank you so much! 👏 And as Kelly said (he's Camtasia's product manager, so he'd know) it does work in multiple languages!
Nice
Wow!
This is awesome! Love it! One question: is there a way to add a new word to the dynamic caption? Scenario is that the dynamic caption missed a word somewhere and I need to be able to add it in.
Currently no, you can't add a new word. You can add to an existing word, or remove a word (it'll leave a very small gap) but the timing can't be adjusted as it's auto-generated by AI. We'll see what future updates bring!
Used it...9.5/10. I had edited the video then did the captioning but the timing was off in a few places. Any tips on that? After a split the captioning did not start right away (like a pause) and then never "caught up" for the rest of the video. Interestingly, the caption track was longer than the video/audio track.
I'm going to try this new stuff out. I was big concerned your creating too many sub products, focus on beefing up actual Camstasia. The speech inclusion should be standard in the product feature, s2t and t2s on the subtitling side and speaker side.
If you're referring to Audiate, we now offer the Camtasia Create bundle (and Camtasia Pro) where Audiate comes with your Camtasia subscription, and you get all of those features you're talking about in one bundled purchase. But no matter which you choose, we hope you like the new features!

The release notes for Camtasia 2024 say:
"Editor shortcuts: - New shortcut options to speed up your video editing.
Which are these new shortcut options? Why are there no details about this in the release notes? Not even Techsmith Tech Support could tell me what this new feature is about.
Looks cool, but will this work with languages other than english? 😔
At any rate, looking forward to the rest of new features in 2024! 🍿👍
There are already dozens of languages that are included! Some will likely work better than others at this early stage, but you will continue to see improvements on it over time.
@@techsmith @techsmith That's great news! Thank you both (@techsmith and @KellyRushTechSmith) for your quick reply! 😊
Kind of cool, still running 2021 version of Camtasia.
24 and 48 frame rate support would be real nice.
.MOV support would be huge, but I get that would be a lot more work to support than a couple frame rate additions.
One day I might just get to do a nice big upgrade 👍
Have you submitted those to our feature request form? Gives the request a better chance of getting seen by the dev team than here on the TH-cam video. :) techsmith.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0fAxNg2cVlwWNbo?Source=Direct
@@techsmith Cool thank you.
Is it possible to export an SRT file? I'm on a Mac.
Great addition...but I'm jumping ship due to the Subscription only they're switching to.
Hopefully you saw the entire announcement where it was said that current customers of Camtasia 2024, who keep their Maintenance Agreement active year-over-year, will be able to maintain their price point.
Are the dynamic captions going to be available to transcribe in Spanish or only in English? Thank you.
DOZENS of languages (including Spanish)!
How do you add or combine words in Dynamic Caption Transcript?
Currently you can really only edit what's there. If you remove a word, a small gap remains, and you can't add. But stay tuned for future updates to this feature.
@@techsmith - Okay. Thanks - I'll keep an eye out
Is it available for all langages ?
"All" is a big word, but it is available in DOZENS of languages, yes!
@@techsmith I try it, but in French the result is not really good, a lot of words do not recognize ... The IA will be learn ?
😭
@@architectepaca Sorry to hear that. As with all new technology, we'd recommend being as intentional with your speech as possible. Make sure to speak clearly and with a good mic, however, even with those elements it could be that French will improve with time.
Our transcription AI is sourced via OpenAI's Whisper engine, which you can see detailed here under "Speech-to-text Transcription". Open AI is always learning and improving, so the goal would be that the more it is used, the better it will get.

@@techsmith I understood, but the APP CAPTION on my IPHONE is better actually.... i hope CAMTASIA upgrade to this point 😉
Very sad for the change of Camtasia model, from perpetual to subscribed. Very very very very sad.
You can still get Camtasia 2024 as a perpetual (owned) version.
If your ROI is positive, and the company is making regular and significant updates then it's worth it!
The only question is: How well does the transcription actually work compared to Descript?
If it's comparable, I'll jump to Camtasia in a minute. (Descript has been annoying me for a long time)
@AlexBooster What we've found is that in general, the better audio you feed in, the better quality you will get out. Speak clearly, use a nice mic, try not to have noise/music in the background, etc. and you should see good results. We already have some ideas for how to continue giving even better results with less effort, but as long as you stick to the above, you should find that you get good results for the transcriptions.
@@KellyRushTechSmith You failed to understand my question completely.
My audio is the best it can be. My question involved the word "compare". Look up the definition if you aren't sure what the word means...
@@AlexBooster I use Camtasia & Audiate for all of my creation, so I can't speak comparatively to the results. It sounds like you have a good workflow for audio creation, so hopefully you should end up with good transcription results!
Still haven't fixed the window spotlight issue in the OS when clips are split and stitched. It will not be able to use the window spotlight effect.
So sorry to hear you're running into that! I've passed your comment along to the right folks internally and let them know of the situation. If you haven't already, please make sure to submit a ticket to our tech support team so we can log this and make sure our devs are aware of the issue.
Thanks for your feedback!

@@techsmith Thanks, I will contact support team
You guys have been busy!
We sure have! And we're not stopping here :)
Does it support Hindi ?
Goodbye Veed
can I choose a language ?
Dynamic Captions in Camtasia 2024 work in dozens of different languages! Some work better than others, but there should be pretty decent support for many different languages.
@@KellyRushTechSmith thank you
When eye correction?
Make sure to submit that as a feature request at the link below, so it has a better chance of getting seen by developers that way: techsmith.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0fAxNg2cVlwWNbo?Source=Direct
Shame it doesn't work properly - Needs debugging badly as some text disapears and then it lags behind what is being said - I won't be using this feature and will use CapCut which works (I have single words appearing in middle of screen one at a time - Camtasia can only do lines). Ah well was almost thinking I could just use Camtasia.
It's working well for most, but if you're having bug issues the good news is the team is already addressing those and the next update will include any necessary fixes (updates are released fairly regularly).
However we CAN do fewer words on screen, just grab the handles of the caption border on the canvas, and drag them in until they fit just what you want them to show. I very quickly tried it and can show you here. Not perfect as smaller words can fit two at a time, but works pretty well. app.screencast.com/6s0n7unWvGLTD
How do I specify the language?
It should recognize the language you're speaking automatically.
@@techsmith it sometimes makes mistakes . Also where can I see a list of supported languages?
We implemented OpenAI's Whisper engine, and here's the list: platform.openai.com/docs/guides/speech-to-text/supported-languages
@@techsmith nice. In this case, it would be nice if I could specify the language, in case whisper makes mistakes
Camtasia 2024 won't even start on my Windows 10 system. It crashes with a "Unable to start Camtasia" error message. Camtasia 2023 still runs perfectly. Tech Support is clueless and gives completely nonsensical tips, including tinkering around in the Windows registry (without success, of course). I really hope that instead of me getting more pointless tips, development is working on fixing the crashes. So far I have to stick with Camtasia 2023.
Oh no, so sorry about this! Do you have a ticket number we can follow up on for you?
@@techsmith Thank you! In the meantime, after a lot of back and forth, support has sent me a special build with which no crashes occur at startup - that's great! I hope that this has solved the problem. It's just annoying that I spent so much time on it because support didn't pass it on to development straight away.
Capcut is forcing Camtasia to a necessary updates.
Nah, we were just listening to what our users were asking us for. 😄
@@Rivanni if you buy Camtasia 2024 as a perpetual product (the last version we’re offering that way), and then regularly keep your Maintenance up-to-date, as our CEO Wendy Hamilton said in her video announcement, we’ll honor your Maintenance agreement pricing going forward.

😁😁I laugh that Camtasia has given almost everything but why does the team not pay attention to an important feature which should be there - the option of Audio Sync has not come yet... Syncing many audios becomes a very big task due to which many people do not use this software and this feature is available in all other software but the Camtasia team has fallen asleep on this matter.... I laugh at this thing that they do not give what they should give... they keep giving useless template updates, theme updates
Have you left that on our feature request form? Our devs don't ready every comment here, but you can submit that as a request here: techsmith.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0fAxNg2cVlwWNbo?Source=Direct
Need Add More Feature Camtasia... This All Feature is Very important. Now at a time All Software Updated this feature

you come up with a lot of new unnecessary features, but you removed the top one, this is a drawing tool! Bring back the screen painter! Ask! She is really needed! Because of this, I cannot upgrade to the new version and use the old version!!!
I’m sorry to hear you’re disappointed. Camtasia was never a drawing tool, it was a lesser-used feature (according to our product usage statistics) that we removed during updates a while back. Our team is aware however that people want it back and are looking into it.
In the meantime if you need a solution, you can access screen drawing in our sister product, Snagit.
@@techsmith ok
@@techsmith Maybe a small number of people use it, but those who use it cannot live without it. no way!!! and I'm one of those guys.

It's not worth renewing my subscription; the only major update is Captions. There's no plan to renew.
