Sounds like you both had some fun doing this vid!👍 Yep I'm with you Brownie, 3" aluminium pipe for the dose sounds. I personally like a bit of both - a little turbo flutter and a little Sshhh for the BOV venting to atmo (without the trumpet)!!!😉👌
Awesome to hear all the different variations, gives a guy food for thought and a easier choice. I like the 3" mild steel 👍 Have a fantastic Christmas 🎄✨🎄
That one was definitely up there for me too looking back, not bad… just have to try keep the rust off it! Thanks mate, have Merry Christmas and happy new year too 👍
Love a sleeper, the aftermarket airbox keeps it a little quiet so think it’s a good compromise between that and “I’m a child who wants his turbo noise”! 🤣 Thanks mate, same to you and a huge thank you for continuing to follow along this hack!
Thanks for the videos this year. You inspired me to go ahead and supercharge my Toyota 86 and I'm loving it. Hope you and and the wife have a great Christmas see you next year.
I had a little abarth 500 as a toy and removed the pipe from the bov. In its place I 3d printed an adapter and 6 whistles and stuck it on. I miss that car
Ross I was thiiisss close to doing similar with one of those cheapo recorders/flutes that every kid honks away on at some point in school, just for a laugh. Regretting it now! Would have been a fun little car.
I was surprised at the sound change on mine just changing the turbo. From r34 turbo to a 3071. Went from an air whoosh to a squeaky air whoosh. Blocked that recirc valve immediately. Just need a catch can now so I can replace the rubber intake.
My daily ute has the 90 3 inch elbow into an airbox battery replacement location & have the old type twin trumpet Megasonic Turbosmart blow off valve that doesn't open until about 7PSI & flutters hard but as soon as you go to over 7PSI, the blow off trumpets scream especially when you push the clutch in after 18PSI pull❗️
This video was completely useless to me (I have NA BA) but it was a great bit of silliness. Stay safe over Xmas and looking forward to what you have in the future on here.
To be fair it's probably useless to everyone! Entertained me and Mrs Browney's small minds at least 🤣 Same to you Glen and hope you get to enjoy a break 👍
such a fun video, maybe time to get a mic for Mrs. Browney for peanut gallery commentary 😅 the last mod is definitely my favourite even though it's really impractical 🤣
Will probably cover a little on this in the EB Fairmont series, and some work has started on exactly that. BUT I'm at best unqualified to give mechanical advice, and super unqualified at any sort of paint/bodywork so don't expect too much in the way of instructions!
@@BrowneysGarage I did it’s an ugly faded orange xr6 turbo managed to score it really cheap too! But I wish I done the trans cooler tho had to get the box rebuilt because of the forbidden milkshake 😂
Ahh the best of both worlds, the holy turbo V8 - do it! You too mate, enjoy the holidays (not too much? 🍻🤣) and thanks heaps for following along for another year of my dumb videos!
hey mate ive had a bf xr6t 2.5 for about 4 years but cant seem to get it to dose, ive removed the entire bov and blocked both holes on the stock crossover pipe with doorstops and also blocked the little airline at the very back of the engine with a bolt but it still wont dose it just lets out one big gush of air pssshhhh instead of sututututu i dont know what im doing wrong, have you got any advice please pal?
Hey browney, been following the turbo conversion and have gone and done it myself, with the 3" aluminium pipe and cone do you have to block off the intercooler side and the cross over side? Or just leave then open and exposed
ok i got Ford falcon Ba XT Mk2 and want to change the fuel pressure regulator but there is 0% help on google which is weird so i was wondering if you know how i could do that? like step by step or just easy as plug in and go because i put the wallbro fuel pump you suggested but its having issues as soon as i changed it like its up and down in performance loss so i think regulator needs to be changed the filter is new so its not that.. like take off acceleration is chugging as it takes off.... new spark (iridium spark plugs) new sniper performance Coils etc so hoping its fuel regulator... if not maybe map sensor or camshaft sensor or oxygen sensor is faulty... anyways hope you can help
Keep it Reet did a series of similar vids. Check them out. Also, for your car, try running a 3.5-inch stainless pipe up to the intercooler, and then replace the ribbed hose going to the airbox with another smooth stainless pipe.
Thanks Lee, you too mate. I don't sorry but they do pop up on the usual FB Marketplace, eBay etc, hopefully you can get your hands on some without too much drama. 👍
is the aim that the intake pipe to the turbo be 2 and halfish inch to 3inch at a 90 degree bend with a filter? what would i do with my Mass air flow sensor if im to do this to my car?
the plastic PVC piping used for drains like the stuff under your kitchen works absolute wonders. Mates XR6T had a 2.5" straight bit and it was the loudest dose I've heard, he had a GT3582rs though
Absolutely I do - you can! th-cam.com/video/d8H1vAavy5E/w-d-xo.html Different gauges but voltage will be easy to hook up, and I'm sure someone will have done the other on a Boss on a forum/owners group and can give an idea where to get signal from.
Probably the same as what I used then! I cut the straight section off one end to nearly where the bend starts and did it that way with the silicone coupler also not too long. Fit but was pretty damn tight!
hi eveyone. I've a k03 turbo on my mk5 gti. id like to install a "dose pipe" can someone guide me to the right dimensions or correct way to do it on this turbo please? am i installing this pipe to the front of the turbo, seperate to the intake pipe? or is the "dose pipe" a super short intake pipe?
I am not aware of anyone that has previously said this... ...so here it is... ...the standard factory blow off solution vents refrigerated air into your intake system...!!! Really. Wouldn't you like your intake refrigerated...? Really. Why? 1 ambient air is compressed raising its temperature to say 70C 2 70C compressed air is routed to the intercooler where its temperature is reduced to say 36C. Remember this is 36C compressed air. 3 compressed 36C air is routed through the blow off valve, where it is allowed to expand to ambient pressure inside the intake, which lowers the temperature of the air to significantly below that of the ambient air...which in turn cools, actually refrigerated, the intake system... This is essentially how a fridge works.
Hi Browney, Great videos of what, how, when, why titles. After I had to sell my Harley because, this old fart was getting a bit poorly with shoulders and legs, so I got hold of a BF Fairlane Barra. Had it for about 12mts or so. Was cheap to run etc, plus had good enuff power for what I needed, BUT, I should never have sold my 2003 BA G220 Fairlane. Did heaps with mechanicale stuff, was getting 8.5 to 10.5 on a trip, Was a real buit, but silly me sold her. DUMB, DUMB. Well, this BF Fairlane was ok, but it just wasn't a G220. So, got out of that after accident and having it written with insurance, and Guess what. I got another G220 Fairlane, this was a BA MkII, wasn't looked after much but with my TLC fingers, I'll get it to close to my last BA G220. Well done on your BA XR6 turbo mods etc. You've shown a lot of stuff even so I can put to my G220. Keep it going all. and Be SAFE. Cheers Teddy

I like the sharpness of the 2.5" but the long flutter of the 3". I think a 2.75" would be perfect for running 7psi

Something went into your turbo, this wouldn't cause the fins to bend.
