Leave the BOV in there, dont remove it, simply unplug the small vacuum/boost line and put a small bolt into the rubber end of the tube to block it off, you can leave the blow off valve point open where it use to plug into. Does exactly the same thing for the cost of 1 small bolt and looks stock.
There's a vid from car throttle proving the flutter myth, basically the turbo is spinning so fast that the excess air can't do anything because the throttle is closed is not enough all it will give you is that cool sound, NO DAMAGE!
@@strider5119 it's hard to explain on here but basically if the throttle gets closed and the air has nowhere to go except back through the compressor... An anti surge turbo has bypasses around the intake so air surging back through doesn't have to fight the entire compressor wheel , but it can cause damage to the part of the wheel that it does hit when travelling through that bypass
The blow-off valve is there for a reason. when you shift gears it blows off and releases the pressure on the compressor side of the turbine, thus allowing the turbine to keep spinning faster between gears when (exhaust pressure goes down) so that the turbine continues spinning fast enough to immediately supply boost in the next gear increasing throttle response.
yeah its a question of sound or power i guess, have no filter on the turbo into bypassing the stock airbox and piping and it will dose but then its a hot air intake and your tubos chomping up leaves and shit
You get a small power loss from doing this. there’s a vid on here in which a Dyno is done with and without and the power car makes around 5-10 kw less with the bov done like this. Pushing the air back through the turbo will eventually fuck up the bearings on the impeller. Just do the battery relocation and do it right. What’s the big deal with the flutter. Get a growler pipe and get the car sounding mean as without cutting corners.
Yeah mine has relocation and still has its BOV can't understand why these guys di this for the sound. Mine you have the whoosh of the intake the turbo whine the exhaust note then the emphysema old man coughing up a hair ball errrrht of the screamer pipe
There should be no difference in power between running a blow off valve and not running one, the turbine speed is no different, the only time you could lose power is if the ECU doesn't like it and is reducing power.
I think you could be right there but not 100% sure. I guess blocking hoses and removing vacuum lines in exchange for a bearly noticeable flutter is stupid really when a power decrease is the outcome.
+Lord Saruman Actually, it's not only about the noise. When you change gears, you keep compressed air in intake, which means that you will have more power. For exemple, look at some rally cars.
Depends on the situation. Its bad when your foot is on the throttle and its fluttering. If you let off the throttle and it makes the noise it isnt bad. Is the air going back and forth in the turbo. As the turbo slows down from the reciprocating air it decreases in frequency. Almost like blowing in a fan as you turn it off.
Let’s make this clear. You can’t hear shit with the stock intake set up so don’t block it until you get a different intercooler or just decide to put a dose pipe because honestly you can’t hear shit
@@strider5119 sorry my bad. I was only blocking the vacuum line from the BOV to get the dose sound. Took it to get tuned and even tuner showed me was a bad idea. Now I'm blocking the BOV with 25mm polypipe stoppers and rubber cap. No power loss and decent dose sound. Recommend any aftermarket BOV?

This causes the BOV to open under boost though as there is high pressure across it. For stock boost this works but not for tuned engines

Not true, if you look at turbos with anti surge compressor housings the blades get damaged where the air returns from around the bypasses

You should really make a video what happens after you take the hose off the valve cover and start the car up I want to hear a flutter

Hey mate is this mod ok to do if you have a stock airbox?
Did you get a answer for that question ?
will it fit my honda
Why do people do this? Is there actually a benefit to doing this or do people just like the noise? Why is it illegal?
