Yes it can be removed, I have not done it. I would suggest checking out farmallcub.com and doing a search for something like "removing sediment bowl" to get some good info on the process for removing that.
My shut off and bowl looks just like yours. When I shut mine off, gas leaks from the shut off valve side. Is there an o-ring or packing in there that can be replaced?
I actually had a similar experience as you. This is what I found out from my friends over at farmallcub.com - The shut off valve is a backseating valve, meaning it has to be all the way open or all the way closed in order to not leak. If yours is leaking when it's all the way closed you should check the packing nut to see if it just needs to be slightly tightened. You can also inspect the packing to see if it needs to be replaced, some people use dental floss for the packing, some people use a teflon plumber cord that can be used with petroleum products. I was wondering if the screen went in 1st and then the gasket as you did here, which makes sense. But when you pulled it apart, you took the screen out 1st and then the gasket. So I'm still confused. Lol
When putting it back together, according to the manual it should be screen goes on first, then gasket, then bowl. When I took it apart I did pull the screen out first just to make it easier to get my caked on gasket off, sorry for any confusion.
Great video.
Thank you so much sir for posting this video 😊 literally working on my 51 Cub right now and I completely forgot how to do this!
The piece the bowel goes into....can you remove that?
