I plow town roads for a living, it always amazes me the people that push snow across the road on blind corners and like you said the mess they leave behind. I'll clean the road up and sand after plowing 30 hours straight and come across piles of snow all over the place on my way home. Pretty aggravating
I don't know why people push snow across the road and leave a big fuging mess for people to hit just like drifted snow it could throw you. Most everybody has room to distribute that snow on there own property inconsiderate ass hats
I live in Nashville, TN and a bunch of us already signed the Beechwood Manor partition. Thanks for mentioning it. Your account is very accurate from what I understand. Hoping we can save it. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Ethan!!
I don’t expect much out of Nashville. Been there twice and outside of the opery there is very little tying it to its old county roots. As evident by the trash “county” music it turns out in our modern age.
Gotta love the old irons simplicity and durability. You won't see these new tractors working or running in in 20 years let alone in 40,50,60 plus years like the old ones. I've got a 1940 ford 9n ,56 massy 65 and a 69 580ck backhoe that start and work all day with no problems!
I mean tractors haven’t seen much change as far as power train since 2000 and most of those tractors are still going strong at 22 years old. They will probably struggle to make it to 50 but 20 shouldn’t be a problem.
I believe they call the mount in front of the final drives a substitute drawbar. If you had a swinging drawbar it hooks to it as well. I’d like to buy a blade for my cub. Good work!
@@Oliver66FarmBoy Yes, I have a swinging draw bar and it used its own draw bar to pull and the standard draw bar to take tongue weight and limit the swing.
To Ethan's point- you are better off not plowing across any public road if you don't want a hassle from someone that may just want to be a PITA, but.........actually, in MI, technically you can plow across a roadway as long as you don't leave ANY snow, slush or ice behind which includes the little ridges left at each end of the blade, regardless of how tall those ridges are. In other words, leave the road surface very clean where you plow and you are within the law, but at the same time you also have to consider the property rights of anyone across from you (if you have anyone living across from you ) and you are pushing the snow past the easement in any manner. Talked with the PD and the county road maintenance foreman about it to get the info after some neighbor troubles several years ago, over this very thing. For those in MI interested in that topic, you can read the code which is - Section 257.677a.
A couple of winters ago I restored my Grandpa's 51 cub, it has the cultivators and the snow plow/grader, I knew it could be used as a grader and was always thinking the drawbar turned around was the mounting point underneath, I guess my assumption was wrong, thanks for showing the correct mounting
I just got 2 cubs to restore, looking forward to getting them in after I finish the 300 utility restoration! Great explanation of going from belly to front plow. Happy Thanksgiving!
Got this same ring. But I didn't get that square cornered push bar specific to the blade. So I use the standard drawbar as a pushbar. Seems to work fine, I didn't know there was a different one for years. I suspected it could be used in a grader mode and when I got a PDF of the book on it that was confirmed.
The down side to that is you loose your drawbar so you have to take the blade off and switch everything back around to pull anything. That’s why they had the auxiliary bar to keep the drawbar free to use.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy Yes you do but I did not get that blade draw bar. So you run what you got. I really don't use it for nothing more in the winter anyway.
I’m not saying it proper or original but I don’t have the wishbone for mine and just flipped the drawbar around facing the front of the tractor and the front set of bolt holes in the final drives are the same pattern and the two holes for the blade mount line up with the drawbar holes
The drawbar can be used like that but then you loose it to use as a drawbar. That’s why they had the auxiliary bar specifically for mounting the blade.
We had a cub it had a hand lift I used it to cultivate tobacco with on long rows it was great the short rows would work you pretty good Lol. Yes I'm in middle Tennessee it's a shame about Hank Williams place. I saw a interview with Kid rock he's pissed about it too I hope we can save it.
I don’t know your location but there are Cub blades for sale on Craigslist and Market Place all the time in MI. I’ve seen them for $200 and up. I bought a set of Cub chains at auction for $10.
The Super 44 and 440 would be the most similar but they’re closer to the Farmall A/Super A. They’re a little bit bigger tractor. Same offset design. They look surprisingly similar to the A/Super A but the Super 44 and 440 are of Oliver design with a Continental engine.
I saw an Oliver 44 at a tractor show in Minnesota (Scott-Carver Threshers Show) that was offset like a cub. Very cool. It looked beefier. It had a 3-point hitch and hydraulics everywhere! And John Deere has a newer one, too. It's called the 900 HC.
I think my blade is a model 54A. I am missing the link in the front to let the blade float and the wish bone piece underneath the rear to attach the blade in the grader position. I will have to fabricate them. Thanks for taking the time to make this video Ethan. I can't stand the people that leave big snow trails in the road either. Happy Thanksgiving!

Just because he didn’t live there doesn’t mean it’s not still a historical landmark based on the age and architecture alone. It’s still not ok to tear it down.
I run the pin chains on my 2-85 with 18.4r38's. THOSE are heavy chains, but they bite wicked. I do wish reverse was slower though for the snowblower...
Hey I figured out why that substitute drawbar you have for the blade has so many parts it’s for a fast hitch tractor. That substitute drawbar can be used on both a fast hitch cub and a non fast hitch cub while the normal substitute drawbar can only be used on a non fast hitch cub.
American manufacturers are complaining because the Chinese Took all the business away the problem is the American manufacturers discontinue all these parts that the Chinese are making now so they have no right to complain about it
I would say more like it was the NAFTA agreement that made the American manufacturers greedy so they discontinued making parts so they could make more profit by buying the cheaper Chinese parts then selling them as American made
Yes that too the problem is it don't seem like the Chinese parts are that cheap anymore everything from China the prices are the same if not higher now
That's a cool Cub tractor Ethan, I'm kind of a fan of Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly, what bothers me that when they took the statue of Robert E Lee down, I know this was several years ago, I feel that our freedom is being taken away from us
Cubby's rule! If a guy had a John Deere B, an Oliver 66, and a Cub, he would have the world by the short hairs!

Floating clevis in original form is rare...people always lost them
There were a lot of little pieces for multiple cub implements that were easily lost. Mostly in the pre fast hitch stuff.
