When I rebuilt the pump on my '51 Cub a couple of years ago, the pump shaft had a definite groove in it. I put an Quattro X-Ring on it instead of the original o-ring and it's been working great ever since with the original shaft.
Great video ! Hey I think I forgot the little pin seal I was so distracted today, got it back together and it works great but just have this feeling I forgot that little booger, What is it's purpose and should I worry about this ?
I watched yourexellent video and I believe rebuilt by pump just as you instructed. The hydraulics were working prior to my rebuild but leaking. After my rebuild I can't the hydraulics to raised the mower. Any suggestions as to what I did wrong and/or how to fix the problem? Farmer
I'm doing this to mine now... That shaft seal was leaking.. there are so many different brands of pumps that have been put on these tractors. It's difficult to tell which one you have!
The hydraulic pumps were manufactured by Pesco, you should be able to find a model number stamped on the pump body. The Pesco #'s are 05 1004 040- then 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, depending on which model you have. The Farmall #'s were 352 035 R91 (Pesco -01, -02, -03), 352 035 R92 (Pesco -04), 352 035 R93 (Pesco -05), 352 035 R94 (Pesco -06). If your pump is the older version and has a Pesco # ending in -01 then you need an additional part, a Lip Type Drive Shaft Seal Assembly. Other than that the kits should handle all the other versions. You can check out the instructions here... www.tmtractor.com/new/hy/288fp.htm

Did you ever figure out the problem why your hydraulics were not lifting after you rebuilt the pump?

what about the gaskets?
One gasket goes on where the pump attaches to the tractor, the second gasket goes on where the hydraulic tubes attach to the touch control unit.
