  • I needed to do a bit of re-arranging in the garage so I thought it was the perfect time to get all the Cub Cadets out together to shoot some photos and get this video footage. This is the first 5 series of cub cadet Production ranging from 1961-1969.

    those who call these a mower or lawn tractor are not really informed about their true capabilities. i have seen them with tillers, bush hogs, flail mowers, front end loaders, front lift forks and a backhoe. they are very much tractors that can do a credible job of mowing while being able to tackle most other farm related tasks on a small scale....and American made

    I enjoyed your video, I own a 68 125 with rare hydraulic lift, I have a q-36 snowblower attached for clearing snow, I rebuilt the engine a few years ago, it runs strong

      I appreciate it. A hydro with a hydraulic lift is a nice combo for sure.

    I love these older cub cadets I recently got a 1970 Cub Cadet 73 it’s not in perfect condition. I got it for the annual lawn mower races in town and was wondering how fast they top out in 3rd gear.

    • @tractorhead04
      @tractorhead04  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      3rd gear on those is a little over 6 miles an hour.

      Oh Cool. I will have to get a first series wide frame again at some point. Always partial to those with the styling similar to the 66 series tractors.

    I'm picking up a 67' 102 3peed +R today. Its got dually rear tires and a nice stack. Nice patina, original seat and snow plow.

    I am finishing up my 1972 Sear Surbuban SS 15 and I really want a Cub next. I have a 2022 XT3 dealer model but it is MTD junk

      Well Stanley/Black & Decker now owns all of MTD as of 2021. But I do agree, they arent the old machines.

    I'm just getting started with these mowers, I'm just 2 months in. I acquired a 129 from my brother who didn't want to spend any more money on it. I'm going to rebuild the motor first. The deck pulleys are all rusted out, I got them ordered. I have started sanding down the hood. I got all the paint to do the restoration. I have a 149 and 2 1000's and a 127 that I will start on next. I think it will require less work.

    i own a 61 original that runs great and does what it was designed to do. the 1 thing i wish it had is a larger engine. the kohler 7.5 hp could use a little help on the power lift.

    I'm looking for an older style lawn tractor that I can still mow with dependably. In your opinion what would be the best year and style model number. Especially for replacement parts. I hate all the new junk especially when it's cheaper to buy the whole thing new instead of fixing it when it breaks. Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • @CC-xs1hh

    Can someone tell me how to read the cereal to determine the year, and where any of these made in 50s? Thanks

    • @tractorhead04
      @tractorhead04  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They started production in 1961. The Serial # up to 1965 is stamped into the right hand side of the transmission. After that it was a tag on the rear axle. As far as reading it, up until like 1974 ish there would just be the actual serial number on the plate and there are multiple sites that have the numbers. The later tractors have a lot of type codes in the number, but usuall the letter character "U" which would seperate the type codes from the serial number.
