      The one they missed is the best one of all AFAIC and that is the Ford EcoBoost 2.3 liter. That engine is making 350hp in the Focus RS and the Mustang and it is very easy to make over 405hp with a chip.

      @@badass6300 in fact the 2.0 engine was designed by Mazda model L and modified by Ford under the ecoboost variant and the 2.3 ecoboost engine is the same 2.0 engine only enlarged and hardened to withstand a higher power. And the mazda no longer uses this type of engine so I could say that from here on is the Ford engine

    The Saab B235R from the 99-02 Viggen, for sure. Mitsubishi TD04 turbo, 2.3l, 230bhp, extremely tuneable, extremely reliable. 100 hp/litre. All shoved into a small 1410kg/3100lb hatchback. Have seen accounts of 600+ bhp from this engine when bored out to 2.5l on high compression, low boost. They also had the B205R, 2.0l, 205hp with the same TD04 between 1998-2002.

      gotta love the 2.0T from 94-99.. the only thing in my 9-3 that's still going strong! Is the mitsubishi unit that much better than the garret? I think the td04 also powers the 9-2x/wrx aswell if im not mistaken. About to take possession of a 9-2x tomorrow!

    • @saabstory4778
      @saabstory4778 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matthew Dmytar the TD04 is far better than the Garrett, yes. The 9-2x is basically a rebranded and restyled Subaru Impreza. 9-2x W/hood scoop is the WRX and takes all the same mods as that car with a nicer interior. IMO if you're looking for a 05-06 WRX on the super cheap, get a 9-2x Aero. At least half the price and nicer inside.

    • @MrBrokehisbollo
      @MrBrokehisbollo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'll be replacing my 99 9-3 with a 9-2x aero for now. I have a feeling the engine is going to cost me much more than the b series in the 9-3. I already have to do the belt for example. Glad to hear about the TD04 however, and as Mr. CarThrottle says it does growl nicely, of course. You don't have a Viggen do you? At the end of the day though my C900 is still the most fun.. it's just a little dead. ;)

      Alex Thompson Maybe letting the quarter mile apart, the B series is one of the best and reliable four cylinders one can buy today. This engine can be the perfect one if you don't have enough money or be a beast if you do. They are a lot more common that the SR20 or 4G63, easy to mantain, and with a supercharger or turbo bolted on you can go plenty fast. Plus, you find them on great chassis cars, like the EF, EG, EK Civics, Integras and more.

    Saab Trionic 5 Engine. Forged crank and rods from factory, and reinforced pistons. It can easily run 500whp+ without breaking. Usually you run a Trionic 5 bottom end with a Trionic 7 head gasket, (trionic 7 is a newer engine and its head gasket is unbreakable almost) and also trionic 5 cams since they are a bit sharper. You have to lathe the pistons if you are to use a trionic 7 head gasket. But T5 bottom end with T7 head gasket, and also T7 injection, you can go up to 700hp without aftermarket parts and ECU. You might need to get some harder valve springs but other than that you have an awesome 2 liter turbocharged engine! A mix of a B205R engine and B204
