    Hey! I appreciate your videos! Got a few questions…I made my first body butter the other day using kokum butter, mango butter, a small amount of beeswax, grapeseed oil, vitamin e and arrowroot powder.
    I feel that it absorbs rather quickly and isn’t too too greasy, but for some reason it had a small amount of tiny gritty pieces?? Maybe from the arrowroot powder or unmelted beeswax? It looked fully melted to me, and in didn’t want to keep it on heat for too long…also, would you say isopropyl myristate is a lot more effective than arrowroot?

      Medicinal.
      You could just pick some calendula, dry a couple days, put in oil, sit 6 weeks, strain. Skincare can be extremely easy and the body prefers it. Calendula fixes rashes, eczema, psoriasis, diaper rash, etc. Amazing.

  • @sherit8594

    Time stamp 1:48 you mentioned using "Refined Shea butter" so the essential oil could really shine. I beg to differ with this analogy. Refined shea butter has clays that are used to reduce the natural fragrance. ie absorbs the fragrance. After finding my fragrances in my butters & lotions were not only fading; but in some cases disappearing entirely I found the products made with refined shea butter was the culprit. So, in my research it seems it's best to use natural shea butter 🙂
    Ps. I know you use "natural shea" in many recipes but felt it needed to be noted .

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting! That has not been my experience at all. I also asked my formulating friend Lise who teaches with the Tisserand Institute, and she hasn't experience this either (and I think she's been formulating longer than I've been alive LOL).
      Is there any chance you're heating your fragrances and essential oils? That would definitely diminish them. There are also a lot of irksome complexities with blending essential oils that could cause scent fading that wouldn't have anything to do with the shea butter (this insight comes from Lise).
      Thanks for watching + happy making!

    • @melizamilbert9560
      @melizamilbert9560 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unrefined shea butter has a very strong odor that can mask some essential oil scent profiles. Where did you buy your refined shea butter with clays in it? If clay is the culprit, I don’t understand why expert soap makers use it to actually help retain the scents of their soaps - yes, by adding clay in to the soap batter. The Tisserand Institute is one of the most relevant and knowledgeable institutions when it comes to essential oils, herbs, and scent profiling, among other things; and I would heed any of their thoughts and advice.
