      I am excited to try mango and capuacu butter!! I have Kokum and have used some (I’d have to look back at my recipes because I can’t remember what I used it in) but it wasn’t much and would love to try a mango body butter! I’ve always wanted to try capuacu butter. It’s been too long since I’ve created anything. I had a lot of huge life changes and it put an even bigger damper on my creating. I sadly have things I know will need tossed 😔 I want to get back to making though! Also, do you know is it safe to use old essential oils and fragrance oils in wax melts? I’m absolutely hating the thought of wasting my expensive products/ingredients. Thank you for this Marie, and all of your videos and hard work ☮️💟 🐝

    One thing I want to throw out there: "Hydrogenated" can sound bad, but we're not eating our pseudobutters, so there's no health concerns. ;) It's just a formulation consideration like Marie said.

      For sure! I'm not trying to demonize them, I just feel like once you've tried one or two of 'em you've kinda tried them all... they're kind of like jelly beans. Regardless of flavour, one jelly bean is ~99% identical to every other jelly bean in the bag.
      And now I really want some jelly bellys 🤣

    Annndddd the final one! Kokum I definitely need to try, but I THINK it’s more expensive? Hemp seed “butter” was great in small amounts. And I mean 5% or less. The other ones….WHAAAHH?! Hi! Sorry this question isn’t related to this video. I was reading your blog about cleaning bottles. I have plastic foam pump bottles that have arrived for me to make lash cleaner. I am not sure how to clean them as they are plastic and have a foam pump nozzle. I am wanting to be very careful as what I am making is going to be used around their eyes. I did try boiling water on the stove and soaking them but they melted! They are from overseas and I don’t know the supplier well so I prefer to clean them.

    Hi Marie, have you ever looked into Mary&May Vegan Blackberry Complex Cream Essence or Dr. Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence? They both have this emulsion phase on top and water phase at the bottom. It is perplexing to me how they manage to formulate this, perhaps some weak surfactant to only partially emulsify some of the oil? Or some electrolytes to destabilize the already stable emulsion on purpose? I truly have no idea.
    Can you please consider making a dupe for this?
    Anyway, I hope you have a wonder day!

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like a bi-phase formulation, but the creamy looking top layer is new to me as well! Both phases in a bi-phase cleanser are usually clear when you can see both phases. Have you had a chance to try the product yourself? I am wondering if perhaps the creamy appearance is just a matter of when the photo was taken 🤔 I have a bi-phase micellar water that looks like that when it has just started to split, but the creamy appearance of the top layer goes away when it sits for a while.

    • @thanhngotongloc1399
      @thanhngotongloc1399 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HumblebeeAndMe I do have the mary&may one and to me, when used as instructed from the brand, which is shaken well to re-emulsify the two phase into 1 creamy violet looking toner, it feels sort of like the laneige cream skin. But after a while (5 mins or so), the 2 phases separates again to give that kind of aesthetics. I think NO BS Beauty did a review of one of those two if you want to check it out!

    What makes mango butter (and kokum) so fast absorbing? I know it's a fatty acid thing, but mango has more or less the same kinds of FAs as shea, if in a different ratio, so I don't think it's strictly molecular size
    Is it polarity? I'm not a chemist & the internet has been lacking. One vendor said it was tannins, which are pretty astringent but also water soluble, I don't think they'll be sticking around in a refined fat through the refining process

    Can I still use BTMS-50 with no water added? I don’t know why my butters are not as silky smooth like the ones that are strictly oil based. Also when calculating my formulas can I add the percentage after everything else? Or does it have to be factored into the overall number that comes to 100% of ingredients?

      They can be fun though! I haven't seen oil-soluble strawberry extract out there for home crafters, so if you want to make an anhydrous product with a strawberry theme, strawberry butter would be the way to go. It took me a while to get my hands on pure coffee carrier oil, so till I got it, coffee butter gave me the same real coffee scent. Also, they don't go grainy, so you could substitute them for grain-prone butters. For example, if you like to keep your favorite lip balm in your car but the shea butter goes grainy because of the temperature changes, a pseudobutter could be just the thing - although in that case, you'd do just as well to make your own pseudobutter, since you're looking for texture more than the fun additives.

      Karité butter (aka shea butter-Karité is the French term for shea butter) is definitely lovely, but it's probably the most common cosmetic butter out there & this video is all about butters people might not've heard of :) I feel pretty confident most people have heard of shea butter, so I highlighted some other butters here.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say the unrefined version has a smell that's like a blend between cocoa and something tangy, like passionfruit. I don't think it's awful, but it’s also not amazing and can definitely be polarizing. I'd say it's about as strongly scented as cocoa butter or shea butter (unrefined versions, obviously).

    • @carengolub8451
      @carengolub8451 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HumblebeeAndMe Mine did not smell anything like that...I don't think I can describe the smell. Definitely nothing that could have been covered up with any amount of fragrance oil...

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  ปีที่แล้ว

       @Caren Golub Oh dear :( I did try one that smelled more like chocolate and sour milk about a decade ago... didn't love that, but it wasn't unusable.
      Regardless of what an ingredient smells like I generally never recommend trying to cover it up because that just never works-it only ever mixes with the scent and makes the nice scent worse :( For examples... have you ever used a lavender scented dog poop bags? They don't help the situation at all lol. Your best bet is to either work with the scent or get a refined version of the ingredient to eliminate its scent from the equation.
