    Wow, had no idea that the temp/trace you would pour at would have such a big difference with your first two pours. Thanks for the eye opener and showing the results, definitely going to remember this.

    I’m confused I thought with any kinds of lotions if it has oil in it, it needs antioxidants so it preserves it and if lotion has water in it it needs preservatives?

    Hi Marie,
    When I tried this technique with Kokum butter, the butter will become so soft at room temperature. How can I solidified kokum butter to become rock solid after melting it? Thank you in advance.

  • @ayalightfire4030

    I can't put into words how often my tracing goes from "oh my god this will never ever solidify to ... ooopsies now it's to thick to pour (or almost rock hard) 😂

    These would be wonderful in Canada, even in the summertime, but I would worry about traveling with them or trying to ship them without adding a bit of beeswax or a vegan alternative to stabilize them south of the Arctic Circle. Am I incorrect?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As these are massage bars, they're designed to melt on contact with a skin, which is around 37°C. They will very enthusiastically melt in similar ambient temperatures. The melting point can be raised by adding some sort of hardener, but this will impact the skin feel. I have found beeswax becomes quite hot and grippy on the skin when used in a massage product; it simply does not do well in products where the performance requires a long "playtime".
      You're certainly welcome to play with it (if you live somewhere warm you almost certainly have more experience formulating for hot temperatures than I do!), but I worry that raising the melting point of the product too much will create a product that does not have the slip and glide required for massage. If you live somewhere very hot you might consider a massage oil rather than a bar as you don't have to worry about it melting because it's effectively already melted.
      P.S. I live a good 1000+ miles south of the Arctic circle LOL-most of the population of Canada does :)

    Hi! I have formulated a beautiful body butter bar but I have run into a problem. I'm not really sure how to label them as testers at an art market. It is unsanitary to put out a tester bar for different people to rub on their skin. Any suggestions on how a potential customer at a market can hygienically test my butter bars? Thanks!!

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm, how about getting a tray of tiny silicone moulds and making a bunch of tiny tester bars using it? I have some that make really wee hearts (maybe 5mm tall)-I think that could work! You could even try sticking toothpicks in them as they set so people can pick up their sample by the toothpick instead of sticking their hand in with everything.

    if i dont have cocoa butter can i use kokum butter instead?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's worth a try, but remember that the cocoa butter makes 74.75% of this formulation. Changing out ~75% of a formulation for a different ingredient is definitely going to be a noticeable change. The skin feel of Kokum butter is not quite identical to the skin feel of cocoa butter, so you might find this doesn't work quite as well for its intended purpose of massage.

    Hi Marie, thank you for all your videos, I’m so keen on your channel.
    A question: if the way you cool the mix determine the result (the two first bars were wrong), I don’t understand why when you melted again and didn’t trace it and pour directly it did ok this time.¿?🤔

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did trace it when I re-melted, I just didn't show the entire process :) It was about the same level of trace as the 3rd bar I poured the first time around.

    Thank you for the tips, I'm enrolled in the Formula Botanical Masterclass from start, but unfortunately, I couldn't get the ingredients they are sold out and I'm trying to just use what I have. I just paid CAD$ 30 for the ph paper strips. I'm also using those measuring cups, they are awesome and very cheap at the dollar store, I even found 2L once in which I'm pouring the melted lotion and mixing it in slow mode with the stick mixer while cooling it off.
