OMG you should see my search history over the last 2 weeks! Body Butter NON GREASY and body butter gift ideas. You are a Christmas Angel! 😇 ❤️ Thank You!!!!!
Thank you Marie! This was another winner. I tried this today. Came out great! I didnt have Cranberry oil. Had Red Rasberry oil that I used instead. Also did not have Stearic acid. I used 18 grams Cetyl alcohol and same amount of Cetearyl alcohol. The body butter came out luscious and looks yummy 😅. Feels amazing on the skin! Thanks again!!
Hey Marie! Can you do a dupe of the "Beauty from bees" body serum? It's basically a thicker body oil but they've thickened it with shea and beeswax but I imagine it's a very particular ratio to get such a nice texture.
Marie, thanks for this awesome video. I have a question. How big are your test batches when you're formulating? A lot of these ingredients are at 1% or under/near that threshold. How do you measure such small amounts? My jeweller's scale only goes to .01. I couldn't find anything that measured smaller amounts. Or do you just make a big enough batch to use a .01 measurement for the least-used ingredient?
I make a batch big enough to weigh out all the ingredients-typically at least 100g (3.5oz) for lotions, so 0.5% is 0.5g, which my 0.01g precise scale can handle with ease :)
Always good to see another quality video on how to make awesome products. I wanting to know if you could help me out with my water based hair pomade? After many different recipes and a lot of waste, I've finally created a great water based pomade. My best batch was 100g of finished product, what I'm wanting to know is if I wanted to make 10 times of 100g product, do I just multiply my ingredients by 10 ? Also I use vitamin E in my recipe, is this useful as a preservative to stop mould growth due to my pomade being water based. Any help would be appreciated. Keep the great videos coming. Cheers Lloyd
Looks amazing! From a fellow skin-thirsty Calgarian to another, I so appreciate your wisdom, witt & fun creations! Could I use Euxyl K 903 for a preservative here?
You could, but I'd recommend including a chelator as well. You'll also need to change the usage rate of the preservative to 1.2%, and I'd aim for a pH of 4.5-5.
Hi! I've shared full details in the free Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/) in the Hot Plate entry in the Equipment section :)
You can use glyceryl stearate / PEG 100 stearate (name brand I use is LotionPro 165 from Lotioncrafter). Glyceryl Stearate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate is another option (name brand ECOmulse, same company). I’ve even used BTMS, which is an emulsifier, but usually used for hair conditioner… it feels great in body butter.
I've watched hundreds of videos from this and other profiles and I still haven't made a butter for myself that will hydrate my dry skin. I take a lot of water and vitamins into my body, but I need something to apply to moisturize my skin. Shea butter and cocoa butter are not hydrating at all, avocado oil feels weird on the skin and makes my skin itch and so on...
Try a formulation that includes olive squalane and hyaluronic acid. The butter you use isn’t the hydrator necessarily… that’s the skin protection barrier. I like mango butter personally.
Hey can someone plz help me I made body butter with similar formula but it get molded even after I have used preservative germall plus 0.5% as well but it has black powdery mold on it after a month plz help me

Hey, love your videos, I'm also in Canada. You're one of the very few here on TH-cam whose opinion and knowledge I currently trust to help me learn formulation. I am getting ready to open an apothecary business here in my area where I will be selling both the ingredients for people who want to formulate their own cosmetics products, as well as some of our own finished products to those who want to buy locally made but aren't comfortable making the products themselves. I was wondering if in your videos you would ever consider having a segment at the end that goes over how the ingredients for these formulas would be written out on a label in their proper descending order including the INCIs for some of the branded products that you use. I know you have a video breaking down how to figure out how to list the individual ingredients in branded products already, but it would be great to get refreshers with some formulas using ingredients not covered in the existing video. Also, I don't know if you've already covered this in its entirety yet, but would it be possible to get a video detailing the labeling laws for cosmetics here in Canada, covering things like listing ingredients, some of the harder to understand topics like which items need to be in both French and English, the size limitations on text such as how ingredients can't be listed below a certain height on labels depending on label size. I have ADHD and reading the Canadian Guidelines for Food & Drug and Cosmetics Regulations is very difficult for me to focus on and I would love to see someone cover it in its entirety because that's how I learn the best.
@inkpearls3364 I already know it, I've been formulating and selling since 2015, selling ingredients to other people is new, I get asked about regulations at least 6 or 7 times a week but there are no videos breaking it down as far as I can see and most people have a hard time sifting through pages upon pages of block text like I had to. Just because I used myself as an example on how I learn best doesn't mean I don't already know it. I would love to find a video that goes over it so I have a place to direct my customers who ask about it rather than spending an hour going over it with every person who asks.

Hello! I'm always enjoying it. I'm curious about your idea about the feminine cleanser. I'd like to see it someday❤
I love Ecosil / OliveSil (same INCI) in my lotion and body butter. ❤
I am gifting candles and body butter this year. Helps me use up materials.
Doing the same, including message candles

Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Miss Marie could you make a type of lip balm that is liquidy like the rhode and summer fridays lip balm? Thank you ❤
Can I use vanilla extract instead of cranberry?
What's the shelf life?
Very lovely

@ Humblebee & Me, can you pls recommend a good brand for sourcing these butters.
Does the extract have to be water soluble since this is an emulsion or can I use an oil soluable extract
You could use an o/s extract instead if that's what you have :)

Vitamin E is NOT a preservative. Marie has information in her blog encyclopedia. I highly recommend checking out her site.

Any video for a reflective lip balm like Dior lip glow oil

What can replace emulsifying wax nf and that it is a good combination with cetyl alcohol and that the emulsion is stable?
Tnx

You know would work… try putting a few drops of Thieves essential oil in your mix.
@ but that would change the fragrance
How old is the preservative you have?
Where are you keeping the product?
Have you tried to combine preservatives?

I’m just worried people would get a reaction to this if they have sensitive skin.
