Bonus Unused Track! In a GT5 trailer for the Toyota FT-86 Concept they showed a mystery mountain course that was never seen again: th-cam.com/video/0yZXNRSsNWs/w-d-xo.html This track was most likely never meant to appear in the game anyway, but it’s still pretty interesting to see. It reminds a bit of Eiger Nordwand and looks like it would’ve been pretty fun to drive. Maybe it was unused course maker location, who knows? Something else interesting about this trailer is that the driver model is just a regular person - no helmet or racing suit - which is something that has never been seen in any Gran Turismo game ever.
Looks like the early version of Eiger Nordwand that was seen on early builds of GTHD premium. As a side note: the Ferrari California trailer has a unique stretch of mountain roads not seen anywhere else, some say its the Stelvio pass in italy @Roflwaffle16

GT sport’s forest track has since been removed from the files in GT7. Pretty sure it’s where the cafe takes place now but it isn’t driveable. Also, some of the new layouts of the existing tracks such as Nurburgring and Catalunya existed at the launch of GT7 before making their eventual appearance in a later update. I should still have beta footage of catalunya’s rallycross on my channel.
It sucks that Street Tracks would never return to Gran Turismo, the closet thing we ever got despite being actually a highway track is Tokyo Expressway in GT Sport and 7.
@@jeroenpruim6330Kaz has stated in an interview that given how much detail telemetry goes into making newer tracks as high-definition and realistic as possible, especially with real courses and locations, accurately laying out a city course would take far more time and effort than would be possible.

The real reason Seattle Circuit never came back is because the layout used up to GT PSP doesn't exist anymore. The freeway overpass you see at the start on Alaskan Way was demolished in 2019, and the final chicane would run through the parking structure next to where the Seattle Seahawks play [American] football
That's not the reason. They had the 1980s versions of Monza and Brands Hatch in GT6. And 1980s + 1990s versions of Fuji in GT4. They could've easily had 2000s Seattle in GT6. Especially since it's just a fictional track anyway.
@@bezoekers Iirc the 80s versions of Monza and Brands Hatch aren't truly accurate since PD only modified a few corners to fit the old layouts, and Fuji managed to appear in GT4 because of when the game was developed. Given that early versions of Suzuka and Tsukuba are present in GT Concept one can assume that PD were already modeling Fuji as well. Fuji was closed down in late 2003 and reprofiled during 2004, meaning the 2003 layout (aka 80s/90s) must have already been finished by then. Fuji 2005 was pretty barebones in GT4, the three sectors hadn't even been finalized yet.

I think out of all of these the one that intrigues me the most is the Northern Isle Speedway one. The completely whack SSRX layout is very interesting too, would've been super fun to drive on, especially with the Tomahawk
Honestly, it shows how professional PD is and probably a bit of the Japanese mindset of trying to deliver, what is expected. I honestly liked what they prepared for GT5 and GT7, looking at the tunnel for example on the SS Route X or the stunt arena. They didn't want to bring the PS2 quality for the port tracks, which sadly killed them from appearing. I wish Gran Turismo would include a "Classic Mode", where you are able to drive on old tracks and maybe a fun / sandbox mode for stuff like the arena.
During one of the world tour events in the GT Sport era, there was an onboard video from the Hungaroring. The actual point standing board was shown between races and beyond this board was this onboard video with dark blue lense in the background. Once I told this to the headmarshall and he told me, yeah the gran turismo team has laser scanned the track already but they couldn't agree with the Hungaroring staff about the rights of the advertising boards so it will never going to be in the game. I do miss Special Stages Route 5 & 11 from past games. Especially the original version of Route 11 from GT1. Sure, it was one of the hardest circuits on that game, but it felt super rewarding when you mastered it. Having both version on Gran Turismo 3 would have been cool
Since we can only see many of these from trailers or game builds from public shows, as a player it makes me feel lied to and that Polyphony digital are committing fraud. 41:24 I believe that in cases of these unused assets being hidden in plain sight, it's likely the developers working on the game and staff responsible for trailer footage intentionally may have left Easter eggs like them out of frustration for having to cut them, imagine being one of the likely many people who were porting and remaking those 81 unused tracks in GT5 only for the higher ups to essentially say "we changed our minds, we don't want these in the game" and because corporations will have NDAs in place for employees to prevent unwanted leaks from the source the best way for them to get the evidence out there is to do so discreetly. I know if I would be told the work I put in would be wasted, I would absolutely do whatever I could to make sure somebody can find out about it even if it's all "speculation" on their end.
Please keep doing this! Gran Turismo is one of the best franchises to me, I played every single game since GT2 and I still love spending some time in GT7.
you missed the early version of the eiger nordwand road course seen in early builds of GTHD Concept, it has a much more technical layout and felt like a road rally stage ever more than its final version before it got changed into the final course design we all know also, regarding london, the track actually was confirmed to be the second "premium" track for the game alongside eiger back when GTHD was being planned to be a full game, it's very possible that an earlier design of london was planned just like the early design of eiger, but got scrapped and changed into the final smaller version we have now
Honestly, a lot of people hated the standard cars but I didn't mind that much. Maybe it helped that for some time I was playing on a CRT TV, so I couldn't see much of the bad graphics, plus the fact it was before I discovered I was starting to need glasses. I even experimented with replaying GT5 recently in 480p widescreen on my monitor, and thought it helped too with hiding the ugly. So for those tracks, looking back, especially as we would see some standard cars get improvements in GT6, it would have been really cool if we had standard tracks too. Just adapted a little better for the new game, like how on most of the tracks shadows from the scenery aren't cast on your car, since they were baked in, and on PS2 only programed to say how bright or dark your car was depending on where it was, the shadow wasn't too detailed. Shadows cast from cars also don't fade out on the scenery shadows. So if these tracks had shadows that worked like on PS2, just adjusting the brightness of the cars, and fading out the cast shadows, including the GT5 car shadows being cast on the car itself fading away, it could have worked. Well, at least as good as the standard cars did. I guess if we just had AI Upscaler software back then, maybe it would have been enough for them to decide on including them. Though I guess maybe they might have had to only have them in optional events, extra events, extra races for certain events, or just arcade, time trial and online, which some people could like.
Yep, but it looks like Tommy Kaira ZZ with extra large wheels. Nothing really interesting despite the fact that Kaz really planned to put Bugatti in GT long time ago
In all honesty, the Infield Layout of Special Stage Route X would be insane! You can see so much, I‘ve been digging on the first corner last month and you can even see the „racing line“ around the corner. It‘s quite clear at the very top. It would be a great addition
I thought I saw that the purpose of the Route X course with the big cants and such was for the suction "fan" cars and the Vision cars? As for the track I'd like to see return: Seattle circuit. I LOVED that track!
You forgot to mention an unused track in GT5 that looks like "The Top Gear Test Track" but it really looks like "Salzburg Airport" for me. For now, the SSRX infield is kinda revitalized in Assetto Corsa mods, so in case you kinda wanna know how it looks like Anyway, I kinda want to see, either the forest track in GT Sport, all those GT Arena secret layout, or even SSRX infield returned in GT as a track, or GT7 update. Would be kinda cool
Great video as always!! You just made me realise why I love Gran Turismo so much ❤ I'm saddened by my lack of interest in newer titles and replaying of old games, as the latter makes me feel like I'm in a time capsule, all on my own, playing a game nobody really cares about anymore and getting fascinated by them has no use as there is nothing to look forward to.
Would love SS11 to return in GT7. my god what a circuit the GT3 version was. I must of driven a good 1000 laps around it, especially in the Clio Cup and DTM Calibra. Also would love to see Route 246 back.
Citroen built a real-life version of the GT Concept and drove it around the "London track" back in 2009; I can recall reading an article from a car journalist who went for a ride-along saying that a representative of a Saudi Prince told the driver that they want to buy it at any price (it made the supercars in Knightsbridge instantly irrelevant to car spotters). Citroen also said they were going to put it into production but this was in 2009 when the GFC was in full swing and it probably never went into production for the same reason the VW W12 didn't; who would spend 6 figures on something with a Citroen badge on it?
Especially on the subject of GT Arena, I think it's mostly development constraints/timelines/licensing deals and the sort of stuff that makes game development so complicated at times. I don't really think it's any particularly malicious tease or anything, just, for example, screenshots from early dev stages before they tested stuff that didnt work or they wouldnt have time for. That said, loved the video as always
The only reason I can think of as to why PD put the screenshots of the track was as a cool easter egg, nothing more, nothing less. Devs love to leave little nods and treats for dedicated players combing through the game looking for details, and I don't doubt that PD are any different in that regard They've done this for years with things like the monkey and the Loch Ness monster on trial mountain, and more recently cows being abducted by aliens in GT7, screenshots hidden in plain sight is just an extension of that imo
I'd love to believe that some of these leftovers are in the files because the employees who put so much effort into these cut tracks would like the public to know about it
Amazing to think that with all these cool unused tracks and cars in its past history, GT7 and Polyphony is still foing bare bones for new content ideas. Bruh just go back to the past we'll eat up the old stuff no prob.
Yeah, honestly this just makes me annoyed with PD more than anything. Their insistence on doing far less content because they hold themselves to a standard so high that most players don't even notice the details they're putting in leads to objectively worse games.
I know way more about the secret cars than I do tracks, frankly because cars are way easier to remember. Not to mention text strings often refer to actual car models. Meanwhile secret track names could may as well be codenames for ones we actually got.
There's an unused kart track off the Turn 2 complex in High Speed Ring in GT7. You can drive it on a modded PS4, but it might be visible normally on replays.
The Seattle Circuit would be awesome, city track like Special Stage Route 5 & 11 namely all of them, but for the next update for GT7 and the next is a huge abysmal all they ever put in the game is new cars nothing more that's sad yo that ain't gonna get tears out and you that's how pathetic that notion is.
The first time I played GT5 was at my local target and I picked kart and I drove at the piazza it was so cool playing GT5 for the first time and in 2015 at the LA Auto show Hyundai had a time attack challenge with the Vision GT at Matterhorn
Happy belated Saint Patrick's Day and happy Easter! Glad to see you again. Still think you need to start an ASMR channel based on engine and exhaust notes!
11:01 I have seen it in gt6 under the go cart missions. It was I think labeled as a GT track which was also inside a dome but the track layout itself is more or less the same. Could be that I'm mistaking it for this track 35:12
There is a Theory that SSR5 and SSR11 are connected and I'm for it! that would have been a perfect track for endurance racing even if it was just for current GEN

you missed the early version of the eiger nordwand road course seen in early builds of GTHD Concept, it has a much more technical layout and felt like a road rally stage ever more than its final version before it got changed into the final course design we all know
also, regarding london, the track actually was confirmed to be the second "premium" track for the game alongside eiger back when GTHD was being planned to be a full game, it's very possible that an earlier design of london was planned just like the early design of eiger, but got scrapped and changed into the final smaller version we have now
Honestly, a lot of people hated the standard cars but I didn't mind that much.
9:48 EB110 ?!?! 😯😯
i was about to comment the same thing!
Wow, I didn't notice that. Where's that video from??
I found it. On xtimelessgaming. Hidden cars & tracks, 51:00. EB110 looks like Tommy Kaira ZZ with extra large wheels. Kinda sad thought
Yep, but it looks like Tommy Kaira ZZ with extra large wheels. Nothing really interesting despite the fact that Kaz really planned to put Bugatti in GT long time ago
Me sad
Me see Roflwaffle posted
Me happy 0:00

It's an unused track that was first seen on GT5 E3 2009 trailer, GT5 AGS 2009 trailer, Mercedes SLS AMG trailer, from a Japanese TV commercial called "We Love Cars", from photo location mode which is called "Red Bull Hangar-7" and from Red Bull X2010 challenge special event intro cutscene.

15:44 El Capitan if it were in *_Need For Speed_* or *_Ridge Racer._* Yeah, I went there.
...
I'm impressed by just how much people have uncovered, really. Now imagine racing on Ridge Racer circuits with GT engine physics. Oh wait, has that been done already?
For now, the SSRX infield is kinda revitalized in Assetto Corsa mods, so in case you kinda wanna know how it looks like
Anyway, I kinda want to see, either the forest track in GT Sport, all those GT Arena secret layout, or even SSRX infield returned in GT as a track, or GT7 update. Would be kinda cool
I was hoping you would talk about the secret Special Stage Route X layout
Great video as always!!
You just made me realise why I love Gran Turismo so much ❤ I'm saddened by my lack of interest in newer titles and replaying of old games, as the latter makes me feel like I'm in a time capsule, all on my own, playing a game nobody really cares about anymore and getting fascinated by them has no use as there is nothing to look forward to.
Would love SS11 to return in GT7. my god what a circuit the GT3 version was. I must of driven a good 1000 laps around it, especially in the Clio Cup and DTM Calibra. Also would love to see Route 246 back.
13:25 this track reminds me a lot of Empire City, impressive
i remember in gt2 you could get out of bounds at laguna seca. supposedly there was a hidden drag strip above the pause icon.
I wish they kept the death chicane from GT1
You're the best Gran Turismo creator I've found on YT! I've been playing 3 lately and I can't get enough. Keep up the good work.
Can't you see a bunch of jgtc racecars at GT Arena in the intro of gt6? I thought you couldn't get cars to race there.
At this point Gran Turismo has no secrets left
Especially on the subject of GT Arena, I think it's mostly development constraints/timelines/licensing deals and the sort of stuff that makes game development so complicated at times. I don't really think it's any particularly malicious tease or anything, just, for example, screenshots from early dev stages before they tested stuff that didnt work or they wouldnt have time for.
That said, loved the video as always
I was taken aback by the Xiaoyu Theme music. Did not expect that lmao.
That last version of GT Arena is... wild. It certainly would be fun to drive at with the elevation.
The only reason I can think of as to why PD put the screenshots of the track was as a cool easter egg, nothing more, nothing less.
Devs love to leave little nods and treats for dedicated players combing through the game looking for details, and I don't doubt that PD are any different in that regard
They've done this for years with things like the monkey and the Loch Ness monster on trial mountain, and more recently cows being abducted by aliens in GT7, screenshots hidden in plain sight is just an extension of that imo
What about the vegas track that was cut from gt4 that was used only as a drag strip in the final version?
I'd love to believe that some of these leftovers are in the files because the employees who put so much effort into these cut tracks would like the public to know about it
15:40 you were right on the dot. I literally knew it was el capitan because it had a certain familiarity to it for some reason?😂
Praying some of these come to GT7, though I am not counting on it at all
I wish and pray for an update on GT7 with the track “complex strings” that was my favorite track to time attack when I was younger.
25:11 love the "funk goes on" from yakuza kiwami! fidnt think you could put a brawling music to a break down video about race tracks!😂😂
I know way more about the secret cars than I do tracks, frankly because cars are way easier to remember. Not to mention text strings often refer to actual car models. Meanwhile secret track names could may as well be codenames for ones we actually got.
I'm surprised I guessed the early version of El Capitan. Granted, I originally thought Eiger Nordwand, but scrapped that guess when you said GT4
I love when you use tekken tag tournament soundtrack, it is remind me of my childhood.
And then "Funk goes on" from Yakuza Kiwami, you are Godlike
The gt5 tracks hurt me the most cuz i started playing gt on psp and all these fantasy track were awesome
@9:54 EB110? I don’t recall that being in gt concept😮
Seattle for me, loved the licence test with the Ford GT40 in GT2, would loved to have seen it return in GT5 or 6.
Haha, I knew you'd have the GT6 stunt arena left for last. It truly is the best unused track.
RoflWaffle never fails to fill us up with GT knowledge
Another one? Bloody hell... few people manage to make so many high quality videos so quickly.
Let's see what we've got here today. 😄
11:01 I have seen it in gt6 under the go cart missions. It was I think labeled as a GT track which was also inside a dome but the track layout itself is more or less the same. Could be that I'm mistaking it for this track 35:12
Some of these are on the GT PSP Mega Mod, give em a go ;)
Only the 6 playable tracks tho, 3 of which only work on emulator. They havent been fixed
Xiaoyu's theme from Tag 1 snuck in there
I love the way you say 'gaem' with your accent lol. Love your videos too
that's the kind of content i love
keep on man, you are doing great!
There is a Theory that SSR5 and SSR11 are connected and I'm for it! that would have been a perfect track for endurance racing even if it was just for current GEN
You should do a series on the origins of all the gt3 event background photos. Like the gt1 car dealership videos
I'm so sad that All of those contents were cut in GT5 and GT6
those contents could be perfect and funny things
I felt like such a genius when i guessed El capitan 14:59
Same 😅
80% of the cut tracks in GT5 returned on GT5 MASTER MOD.
I swear i played a version of gt sport with that inside oval layout, but i was a dumb kid and didint choose it, but i do remember the option for it
Best videos on youtube rn roflwaffle is killin it
Ahh I remember the hype that NSX trailer brought. Never got that Seattle track :/
That second Forrest track would be awesome for some togue racing
Great video, very interesting history detailed and laid out here.
I actually guessed El Capitan. It’s the only GT4 track I can name from memory, and it actually kinda looks like an “El Capitan” if you were to ask me “Is this El Capitan?”
I can't wait for gt8(or the next gt), I need to see if GT Arena will make a comeback!
