tbf, i love keeping the staff for myself as well. the Everscamps are so fun to just brutally murder from time to time, and they're "immortal" and it's not a crime.
A spear would be a stab staff. A spear would need to be inserted into the opponent to deal damage. A touch staff wouldn't. Like Loki's staff in the first Avengers movie. He didn't stab people with it. He just touched them.
Could have some pun-fun with the Mace of Doom run: Get glass armor/steel boots and helm/gloves, be a brick-jawed Nord with short brown hair, and call yourself "Doomedguy", or something to that effect.
What about beating Oblivion as Glarthir? Have to complete the Paranoia quest, killing all three targets and Glarthir himself (can't have a doppelganger walking around). Then you can only use the weapons that he has in his house or on his person, and need to complete Shaogorath's quest (giving the wabbajack to Martin is an option, but not necessary) and an optional objective is to complete the shivering isles dlc. Could be a fun character run, which feel like a rarity in Oblivion.
The elemental shields doesn't just give elemental resistance but also an equal shield effect. This makes the shield sigil stone useless if you are save scumming or glitch-farming them.
Additionally, i think one of the mid range shock stones DO show up at level 1 (maybe not the way he did things), which can give you a massive advantage early on. Edit: HE GOT NUKED BY SHOCK TOO. Happens to all of us from time to time, i recall someone shit talking frost dmg in skyrim and it had like 100+ comments about the same jackass that fucking nukes most players with frost magic. Just, funny it got pointed out that shock spells did him in.
The magic getting through your absorb is the staff getting reflected. You cannot absorb magic that gets reflected back at you. Only resist works on that

No armour, only the pre-war businesswear(or other suits) and glasses are allowed. Use the drugs exploit to get 11 in endurance and strength. (Played college ball, you know.) Monocyte breeder, subdermal armour, endurance and strength implants all required. (Nanomachines, son.) Charisma implant also required. (I don't write my own speeches.) Only the bare fists are allowed as weapons. If this is too tedious, the ballistic fist and superheated saturnite power fist are alright to use sometimes because of the giant flame pillars he makes in his final phase. (Don't fuck with this senator!) Side with yes man (or maybe legion if you feel like a legion playthrough but i think yes man is better for this) and destroy all 3 other main factions. Also enact social darwinism whenever applicable. (every man should be free to fight his own wars!) Someone in the comments reminded me about the thorn quests; you have to do those since you're gathering a bunch of eggs. (Making the mother of all omelettes here Jack, can't fret over every egg!) Besides that, the rest is up to you; I'm sure you know the simple things like taking the toughness perk and I want you to be free to make this run as extensive or restrained as you want, but after asking for this for over 2 years I will be disappointed if it's not on the same level of depth as the Lincoln runs. Also, a special request: please at some point in the video find a melee enemy you can tank for a long time and reenact the "standing here" meme.
Came here to say this, but you beat me to it - ideally you need some sneak and a paralyze spell cause in the right circumstances you can rack up a bounty of several million if you're not careful - as I found out one playthrough haha
When fighting camoran at the end, the spells that got through were your own spells reflected back at you. Spell absorbtion only affects the initial cast of the spell and reflected spells bypass the absorption and spell reflection effects. This is to prevent a continuous reflect spell event that can crash the game.

For those who want to do this, as long as you don't complete the quest by getting the reward from the giver, the staff won't remove itself from your inventory on a reload. It's the competition of the quest that causes it to despawn, not enchanting it

There used to be a work around via the legacy 360 Store, but since that store closed a year ago, there’s now no way (at least in EU/UK/USA) to purchase the DLC…

I usually just go in there, grab the scrolls, and do a scroll-duplication loop for a bit until I have enough, then I duplicate valuable items from the shop and sell them for whatever amount I need (since shopkeepers have infinite money, just a limit on what they'll pay for a single bundle of items)
Could you do an “impostor”/Nerbit Special run? Basically combine the chase challenge with the character challenge by playing as a character in game while they also chase you and you gotta win before they catch up and prove you’re a fake! Perhaps as a fun twist, you would do the opposite of what they would do or sabotage them… like playing as Kowalski while he chases you and you constantly betray the NCR making him look bad… you’re an impostor after all, perhaps the Caesar sent you! That’s just one example, I think it could be fun and full of shenanigans!
Hey Nerbit! I don't know if it's been mentioned but you needed to paralyze Dorian to get the gold flowing. Usually the issue is finding a way to paralyze early. There is a paralyze poison in one of the mage's guilds upstairs living quarters which is usually the only way you can paralyze early. I usually crank my difficulty up before I hit him because I don't want to kill him.

For the Dorian glitch, I always just used a paralize spell and then could infinitely loot it off his body. Maybe you got confused and thats the normal way? Never heard of killing him myself

I absolutely love this style of challenge. Yeah, it's always fun to watch someone hobble through a game with their self-imposed restrictions, but it's infinitely more entertaining when you have some semi-overpowered tool to solve all your problems with. It's the difference between "beat this game with only my fists" and "beat this game using only my left pinky which I coated in bronze"
11:40 I used the Summon Rufio's Ghost scroll you get for the Dark Brotherhood's Purification Quest for duping, because the scroll has no weight. Very helpful when I wanted to dupe up to a few hundred items for selling, or lockpicking a hard lock.

Absolutely loved the video. Amazing how the second time the charm for the run worked. Now for my suggestion of the next challenge you can do is see if you can beat Fallout New Vegas with only Overworld items? That means any items that are out in the open and not in containers or in NPC's inventories.
This is awesome! I started my first playthrough of oblivion and new vegas, and next thing I know Doomwolf and Nerbit are making videos on oblivion! Not just that, but also saw the staff and thought of doing a challenge run myself with it, and here we are. Time to see if I should do the run or not!😅
Well I'll be. Looked it up because was ready to say it only recharges one weapon, but you're right. It recharges all magical weapons. Been playing Oblivion for 16 years and never noticed lmao. I guess since most of the time you're really only running your main weapon, you never notice that all the other weapons (if you're carrying any) get recharged too.

Here’s a tip nerbit, ever want to skip the long way and go right through the quarry to new Vegas? Once you’ve in the junction go straight towards black mountain (i think that’s what it’s called) and go to the trapped passage marked by the dead ncr soldier, avoid the bear traps and boulder and from there you’ve basically entirely avoided quarry junction! Hope this helps.

The fast travel to cities is Oblivion's version of Silt Striders in Morrowind and carriage drivers in Skyrim.
The rising background level of terror I was feeling that the game would crash at any moment in the video was almost Hitchcockian in it's execution.

I absolutely love this style of challenge. Yeah, it's always fun to watch someone hobble through a game with their self-imposed restrictions, but it's infinitely more entertaining when you have some semi-overpowered tool to solve all your problems with.
It's the difference between "beat this game with only my fists" and "beat this game using only my left pinky which I coated in bronze"

11:40 I used the Summon Rufio's Ghost scroll you get for the Dark Brotherhood's Purification Quest for duping, because the scroll has no weight. Very helpful when I wanted to dupe up to a few hundred items for selling, or lockpicking a hard lock.

I am currently in the process of finishing up my degree in Simulation & Game Development and I love watching your videos, pushing game systems to their absolute limits has been one of my favorite things to do since I was a kid lol

Now for my suggestion of the next challenge you can do is see if you can beat Fallout New Vegas with only Overworld items? That means any items that are out in the open and not in containers or in NPC's inventories.

This is awesome! I started my first playthrough of oblivion and new vegas, and next thing I know Doomwolf and Nerbit are making videos on oblivion!
Not just that, but also saw the staff and thought of doing a challenge run myself with it, and here we are. Time to see if I should do the run or not!😅
13:05 wrong sir. It recharges ALL charge based items in your inventory, not just the equipped one. or at least it does when I use one.
Well I'll be. Looked it up because was ready to say it only recharges one weapon, but you're right. It recharges all magical weapons. Been playing Oblivion for 16 years and never noticed lmao.
I guess since most of the time you're really only running your main weapon, you never notice that all the other weapons (if you're carrying any) get recharged too.
that makes more sense on why it disappears after use, it is a very strong item then

Okay, I haven't finished watching, but I just got to the part where you load into the test area and I cheered SO HARD when I figured out that's what you were doing. I remember seeing a vid about the Mace of Doom in like 2007 and being so annoyed since I had the PS3 version and couldn't get it

Here’s a tip nerbit, ever want to skip the long way and go right through the quarry to new Vegas? Once you’ve in the junction go straight towards black mountain (i think that’s what it’s called) and go to the trapped passage marked by the dead ncr soldier, avoid the bear traps and boulder and from there you’ve basically entirely avoided quarry junction! Hope this helps.
