    Couple of things I left out in this video that I keep getting alot of emails/DM's about:
    1. *Try to play in AJGA(dot)org tournaments AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.* These are going to be the benchmark for what college coaches will use for tournament golf performance. If you're outside the US, try to play in some tournaments that will get you WAGR (World amateur golf ranking) points. It's a bit harder if you're outside the country but it can definitely be done.
    2. *When you contact the coaches,* simply tell him/her that you're interested in playing for them and putting in the work to make the traveling 5. Give him/her your career resume with the tournaments and scores you've posted at those tournaments. Don't leave out the bad scores, put them all in there. Coaches want to know how good your good is but also how bad your bad is. Give him a schedule for future tournaments you're playing in so he/she can come watch if he/she's interested.
    3. I don't recommend filling out the questionnaires that are on the websites. If you'd like, you can search "ping american college golf guide" in google and it should be the first search result that comes up. That resource costs I think $50 but *it will give you the email addresses for all college coaches in the nation.* I personally didn't use that when I was a junior golfer but it sounds useful and I know others who did use it.

    But I was gonna say that I started playing golf in the summer of my junior year. But do you think it would be too late to start playing D2 golf at my local college? Any good tips to get there? Thanks so much

    • @LukeKwonGolf
      @LukeKwonGolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks trent! Never going to discourage someone’s dreams, you can definitely get recruited for a d2 school. But youre behind the 8ball a bit. If you’d like I can personally coach you but other than that its pretty hard to give you advice without seeing your swing and figuring out whats going on in your game

    hi luke! i am a women's golfer and after checking out the roster of my dream college, i was wondering if you thought it would be a good idea to reach out to a player/former player on social media of what their recruiting process for the university was and how they landed a spot on the team? let me know if you can and thanks!

    I tried to bridge the gap between good and great. In a similar way my parents tell me to golf less yet I put in 170 rounds and practice during MN's short season. All that yet I've barely improved, still ranked 2000s on JGS. I'm just taking anger out

    • @LukeKwonGolf
      @LukeKwonGolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why’d your parents tell you to golf less? Sounds like youre putting in the work you just need a better sense of direction with your work

      Taking breaks definitely have their place but when youre a junior golfer raw hard work will take you a long ways. Go out there and outwork everybody 👍

    Hey, right now I just returned from a 2 year church mission where I wasn't able to play in any tournaments and only go to the range once a week. Right now I'm talking to couple of small college coaches and creating my resume for them. With what's going on with the virus and everything, how do you suggest I give them scores they want to see that reflects how I play now instead of 3 years ago?

      Yes, youre a little bit behind pace but not by much! Go work your ass off this summer, get some good results. Focus on working on your chipping/pitching, putting and especially your wedge game 👍

    Is there an age limit to play college golf? Would there be opportunity for someone like myself, coming out of the military with a dream? Would love to see a breakdown video on all that if possible.

    • @LukeKwonGolf

      The top 20/30 guys in D2 are D1 caliber golfers. The money backing in the D2 programs is also smaller

    Hello Luke, I’m going to be a sophomore and shoot high in the 70’s. I do not play competitive golf, except for playing for my high school. I am looking to play tournaments so what programs to you think I should join so I can play tournaments. Thanks.

    • @LukeKwonGolf
      @LukeKwonGolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      AJGA Tournaments will get you exposure to college coaches. Your state should also run some junior tournaments run by your state’s golf association 👍

    I’m in my junior summer and have a few rounds in the 60’s but colleges don’t seem interested, I’ve emailed around 30 schools and have received little to no interest and not sure what to do

    • @LukeKwonGolf
      @LukeKwonGolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, sounds like a lot of those schools you contacted have their rosters full for this next year. Try reaching out to them one more time just to make sure. But you should start looking at maybe looking for some lower ranked D1 schools or a D2 school. I played in a D2 school my first year in college and transferred up so theres no reason why you can't do the same. Good luck bro 👊

    • @LukeKwonGolf
      @LukeKwonGolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice dude! I laid out a good bit on these two college golf videos but you want to start contacting coaches right now and show them your resume/swing/upcoming schedule. Email the coaches at every college you may be interested in. And sign up for AJGA tournaments and/or your state run junior golf organization 👍

    • @Lomo-j12
      @Lomo-j12 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you think coaches will notice me if I start to win a lot of junior tournaments

    • @breajones4012
      @breajones4012 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jake Lamonica Like Luke said in the previous video, EMAIL THE COACHES! A lot of them are too busy to go looking for players that aren’t golf prodigies so if you email them it will make the process a lot less stressful. I was in your shoes in high school, playing scratch golf but not getting any attention. As soon as I emailed the coaches I was interested in I got a lot of responses back and a few scholarship offers.

  • @subie9520

    Also, if you don’t play in the ajna tour how about like the pga mid adlantic do coaches also look for that or any other tournaments I play?

    • @LukeKwonGolf
      @LukeKwonGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to go contact the coaches, your chances of them reaching out to you because they saw you in a tournament leaderboard is really slim. I don't know the pga mid atlantic but I'm sure it can help supplement your resume, but AJGA is what coaches care about the most 👍
