    In this video I talk about how to make more putts using a green reading method you most likely have NEVER heard before. I share with you a slight reframe of the way you read your putts right now.
    Thinking about the TIME you give the putt to RETURN BACK to the hole can help you make more putts. This allows you to take into consideration the speed and distance of the putt. As you may already know, the most important factor in making putts is matching up the correct read and the correct speed.
    A longer putt is going to roll for a longer period of time and therefore has more time for the putt to break. Similarly, a downhill putt is going to roll for a longer time even though it's covering a shorter distance. In both of these scenarios you need to give that putt more TIME, or break, to RETURN BACK to the hole in order for you to have a chance to make the putt.
    On the other hand, if it's a shorter putt, or an uphill putt, that putt isn't going to have as much time to break. So on these putts you don't need to give the ball too much time, or break, or else it won't be able to return back to the hole.
    This is similar to how you may be visualizing your putts right now, by picking a spot and putting a straight putt at the spot. But by doing that you are separating the line and the speed. This method takes into consideration the speed of the putt as well, giving you a better chance to make more putts.
    I've seen many amateurs miss low very early in the putt and I think this tip will help you make more putts in those situations!

    Hey Luke. I watched this video a while back and went out to play with this idea of time spent. I actually counted the seconds as I did my best to hallucinate the ball rolling the line and into the hole then i hit the ball with a stroke that felt like it would roll for that length of time on a line that felt it would take that length of time. I made so many putts it's crazy and when i missed I was like a couple centimetres short or long. So I think I put my own spin on what you were explaining however, the fundamental concept itself was very helpful and improved my putting drastically. Not only the line but the pace too! Thanks man. Great thoughts!

    Hey Luke, new subscriber here. Got onto your channel recently and have been very impressed with your content and approach to the game. I like the reframe putting approach - makes a lot of sense and the concept does marry speed with line, more intuitively than Aimpoint. Thanks for doing what you're doing. Rooting for you!

    Went from 30 ish putts forever to about 4 less a round!! Played more break and frigging let me concentrate moreso on making a solid , choke proof stroke rather than a hit or a pop.....totally took my anxiousness level from an 8 to a 2. Insane.

  • @gamingg9982
    @gamingg9982 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Luke, I'm a junior golfer who hits the ball 310 yds on average, and I was recently advised to not carry a 3 wood (that would go 280) and go for more irons to cover distance gaps (PW-3, or PW-4+2iron), due to the lack of extremely long courses/par 5's. Have you seen players do this? The logic seems reasonable to me but walking around without a 3W seems peculiar. My next longest club would be a 3Hybrid that'd go 255.

    • @LukeKwonGolf
      @LukeKwonGolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are impressive numbers, where are you based out of? Also, the 3wood and 3 hybrid numbers are carry numbers, right?

    • @gamingg9982
      @gamingg9982 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luke Kwon Golf Thanks. I'm based out of norcal. 3w carry is around 265-270 and hybrid carry is 245-250 carry. I gave total yds for the sake of comparing them off the tee, in the event that I dont have a 3w and cant hit driver on a particular hole.

    • @LukeKwonGolf
      @LukeKwonGolf  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah okay then that's pretty normal. Long for a junior golfer though. I'm assuming you're trying to decide whether to fill the 240/260 gap or fill the gap wedge gap?

    • @gamingg9982
      @gamingg9982 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right. The gap between my 4 iron and 3 hybrid is the main issue. Im getting my irons fitted soon, but the 4 will probably be ~ 215-220 carry

    • @gamingg9982
      @gamingg9982 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I currently carry 58, 54, 50, and PW, so I could potentially gain a club if I dropped a wedge

    Similar to my thinking. Break is what you make less time firmer putt less break more time more break. The thing is confidence though, if you miss firmer putt more likely to have harder 2nd putt but you will always give yourself the chance of getting it in whereas more time putt may fall short here and there but should only ever be 2 putts.

      Wesley Stewart Wes! I got your email through my website but its been acting up and I couldnt get your return address. Send me a quick email at Lukekwongolf@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you.
      Yes, what you said is correct but I dont mean to ram putts by the hole if its an uphill putt. What I am saying is that the ball is rolling at a faster speed than it would be on a downhill putt if they were to both end up 1.5ft past the hole. So because the ball is rolling faster for the same amount of distance, it has less time to take the break. A downhill putt from the same distance travels slower so it has more time to take the break 👍
