Not sure I've seen DJ talk so much about his golf. He normally just comes across as a cross between exceptionally naturally talented and not really having any idea what he's doing technique-wise. He clearly feels comfortable talking to you guys as he really opens up about what he's doing with these pitches
Dude, really.. "not having any idea" 😂He is only the best wedge player on tour, won 3 times last season, was OWGR1, ofcourse he has everything technique-wise and idea-wise down to the smallest margin..
Excellent point. DJ is such an incredibly athletic golfer, he definitely has that quiet, don’t otherthink it athletic mindset that’s a big help to him. I’ve also never seen him this analytic. I wonder if it’s because it’s offseason...
@@NovaScene Am pretty sure that you've missed my point. If you ask DJ how to hit a certain shot his usual response is along the lines of "I just hit it." The fact that he can hit any shot is why he's so successful but he rarely articulates any technique into what he's doing. This is why I mention him being so naturally talented
Steven Harrison you’re wrong. The truth is that these two morons are the cross ones and who think they can breath an air of superiority around someone like DJ. They try to act too cool and come off are douchy. They should be praising and revering him. And obvious he knows what’s he’s doing...he plays golf for a living. He said “I just hit it” bc he’s a feel player, which is what most good players are. He also prob said that bc he likely doesn’t wanna put much effort into a video for dumb and dumber here.
Really enjoyed this, thank you. So interesting to hear DJs points. He is so right, we all have a favourite club, so without realising it, a favourite distance. Same with wedges and distances. To hear the best player in the world say, no, wouldn't leave one of those, what a lesson to all of us! Oakmont
Who would have ever thought even 2 years ago that you could start a channel on youtube and have access to the No1 golfer in the world like this for a casual Q&A session. Amazing stuff guys.
I really like how he locks his wrists almost before taking the club back. I have done this on the range to help groove a feel and what I like about it is there really aren’t a lot of moving parts. From the shoulders down it’s all one piece and from there it’s just back to a spot on the clock with the left arm to create a distance - and through. They talk about the head going towards the target but really it’s the belt buckle and head all moving as one piece as well - finishing at the target.
Oakmont. DJ’s such a cool customer. The only time I remember seeing him somewhat out of character was when he hit that long putt to get into the playoff at the Northern Trust against Spieth. I think he was as shocked as anyone when he made it. 😳
Thank you so much for all the great videos and tips. I have heard you both speak to Pro's about fitness. Do you have any videos or suggestions on gym workouts?
I clean my club faces after every shot. I've made it become a habit. Seems to help me with knowing that none of my shots are changed because of parts of the club I've hit being dirty or clumped. I practice a lot right now too. I totally agree with DJ on not practicing differently from how you'd play. Golf is such a fun sport
I have been watching these guys since I started playing golf 6 years ago! I am now trying to become a professional golfer! Nearly there hopefully end of this season I will be on track to become that! They have inspired me to document it aswell on my own channel! Thanks me and my golf!
Great info from DJ, I hate pitch shots anywhere from 50-35 yrs but anything 60-90 yrds I feel super confident in. Course management is what I need to work on
DJ won at Oakmont Country Club, Pennsylvania, in 2016, he shot 4 under to win in great style after having lost the year before in a tragic way. Love the videos
@ Christopher Stark: Yeah, I kinda see your point. He didn't explain any set-up, or swing mechanics, etc etc.....all he did was basically give us his (3) yardages with each wedge. Oh well....it was still a cool video though.
I looked into it and it seems one of Rory's contracts was breatched that made them pull the video down 😐😤 Maybe Nike made them pull it down, if I remeber right he was not wearing Nike logo. Laaaaaaame This is the Internet, someone saved the video and it will be up somewhere else..
@@Somerled_1 Seems like one of these guys from this channel confirmed it was not Nike. So that pretty much leaves Omega.. Maybe Rory was rocking a Rolex by accident 😄 It seems like these guys from this channel are sponsored by another watch brand, so that could have caused it...
How do you do it?, DJ was so relaxed and honest and open about his shot making absolutely brilliant. We club golfers can learn so much more by seeing pro's like DJ keeping explanations simple. Keep them coming guys, great stuff.
Very good, he's very engaged, it shows how little there is to talk about when hitting a driver as in his previous video ! If i were him I'd also have mentioned that he was having to chip from a downhill lie - my ultimate nightmare, but he seemed to cope !
Hii Guys.... I am watching your series and it's very helpful to improve my game. I request you to please upload video related to golf rules basic changes etc. It will help many new player.
DJ spot on - where average joe goes wrong ie trying to getting it the closest they can. Play the course to suit your game do not let the course dictate what you will have to do!!!💪💪💪👍👍👍
Great info, important take away, notice how the current number 1 player in the world plays to a certain club distance (he doesnt just try to get his approach shot as close as possible). High handicappers should also play to have a full swing distance approach shot. They would be more likely to hit that number as opposed to trying to reduce a club to a lower distance. The calculated layup works.
Tried this head movement with my long game practice last night and what a massive change. Felt that i could clear so much easier and control the face with more body turn and then in turn have a more stable face. Great video 👍
DJ Won his US Open in 2016 at Oakmont Golf Course by shooting 4 underpar for the tournament, 3 clear of Jim Furyk, Shane Lowry and Scott Piercy (all at 1 under for the tournament).
any tips for head rotation with your longer clubs? naturally happens like this pitch/chipping for me luckily , but with longer irons my head stays locked on the ball for my best consistent strike but I lose a lot of distance because of this... thanks!
DJ won the US Open at Oakmont Country Club! Great video guys, my wedge play was shocking on my first round of this year, I better get practising before Thursday
i never noticed that forward press thing he does. and he turns his hands to the right at the same time. of course he does the same on full shots but i don't recall any instruction vids promoting this move. it would seem to "over engage" the hands for most players. can either of you two do that?
Oakmont Country Club and gift wrapped the one at Whistling Straights to give Jordy the first 2 majors of the year. Let me get them golf balls 😇. Thanks guys! Love the channel, just subscribed after watching my first video.

Brilliant video. Historic banter from DJ! By his standards! Great platform guys and thanks for the videos. Keeps getting better and better.

Best interview with DJ I’ve seen. Well done
These Pros are true luminaries. Fantastic series! DJ has his swing so dialed. Absolutely impressive.

Amazing interview guys. Really loved seeing DJ talk through his short game.
A video on how one of these athletes trains in the gym would be good to see and something that’s not talked about often. Maybe a future idea 💪🏼
always love to see what DJ does. So knowledgeable about what he's doing and very clear when he describes it.
DJ won at the Oakmont Country Club. He looks so relaxed while playing. Like he is totally in his element and he cant go wrong. Great vid guys!
very useful hearing him explain the reasons for shots
Hi all, what a player! So nice he came talk about his game, simply and nicely, amazing, thanks a lot to all! Cheers
What a GREAT video !
Just letting DJ talk and give allot of information was really interesting to hear his thinking when hitting a shot.
Love these videos, the advice to lay up 80-120 was vital for me.. finding a yardage your comfortable with wedge wise . Happy golfing lads 👌🏌🏻♂️
Lovely video. DJ is nr 1 for all the reasons shown here! He knows his shots down to the yard!Oh, he won at Oakmont Country Club in 2016 :)

The lessons shown in this video certainly has taught me a lot on trying to make this difficult game a lot simpler.
Thank you for this amazing content!
Agreed. Much more relaxed approach too
Oakmont, Father’s Day 2016, -4 total after bogus penalty call on 10. He’s my favorite golfer and you lot are my favorite coaches!
Haha put him in his most uncomfortable yardage! I love it. People say DJ lacks personality but he’s a pretty chill dude.
Very cool to see DJ in this environment and get his personal thoughts on the how and why of his wedge game. Oakmont!
I absolutely LOVE these kinds of videos. I am definitely an info junky

This is the best video that I have seen you guy do, brilliant, more of this please!
Shows his all-round skill here, a great demo by DJ.
DJ won at Oakmont CC. Great to hear him talk about his approach to wedge game. Thanks!
DJ answered so many questions I had in my mind.
one of the best golf video I've seen
Incredible
Fun to watch DJ and hear him talk about his wedges but I'm not sure how this is gonna help me become the ultimate wedge player.

A very good bit with DJ.
My 3/4 SW is 100 and 3/4 GW is 115. Really helped my scores to have those to shots.
Oh and I believe it was Oakmont
What a lad, still wanna see the Rory video though
Jochem ter Bogt they already made one
Rory had the irons, Rahm the driver, JDay will be putting. They chose based on best stats of the season I think..

Freaking love how DJ is going into detail about his game, just like Steven said he rarely ever does this! Amazing

Cool Hand Luke won his US Open at Oakmont. His approach to the 18th green was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Cheers and all the best.
I noticed how he applies forward shaft lean right before the backswing. I always set it up immediately. Time to try this!
