    This is great and is similar to a schedule I recently created for myself. I've only been playing for just over a year and was getting frustrated about my lack of progress but I've now found that being able to quantify my practice really helps me focus my game better and to know what my strengths and weaknesses are.

    Thanks for this video mate, getting back into the game after taking a 5 year hiatus. I used to play off 6 as a junior and hopefully with this schedule over the coming autumn/winter I can find my game again and aim for single digits. With less time to play these days due to work and kids it’s essential to find a regime where I’m getting the most out of say an hour so on the course or practice range. Love the putting drills.

    Great vid Rob, just to add the the chipping practice, a mate and I would have a comp where whoever got closest to the hole on the first chip chose the position of the next shot, first to 15 won the game and whatever we were playing for... great fun and good competition for bragging rights... Loving the Vlogs bud

    20 minutes iron play, 10 minutes FWs, 15 minutes Driver, 30 minutes chipping (gives the player the vision and knowledge of rolling on undulated greens at developed speeds), 30 minutes pitches (develops "feel" for partial swing lengths and how the ball reacts upon impact with the surface of the green ), and 30 minutes using various putting drills to enhance distance control. Equals 2 hours and 15 minutes done three times a week. Of that 2 hours and 15 minutes, they work their short game 1 and a half hours. This is a college-level practice regimen for a division 1 university nearby. At a great many colleges and universities, the golf team actually attend class two days a week. They teach the biomechanical ranges of the player's body, how the spine limits rotational movement in the mid back and lumbar vertebrae, they teach the physics of the equipment we use, as well as the physics of swing techniques (there are more than one). They incorporate the physics department into the instruction, as well as the biology and biomechanical departments, as tools for the players to build off of. They teach how the movement of mass creates forces that can be used to return to impact and to build speed and power generated through applied physics. They teach that the length of the lever is determinate to the weight of the club-head at impact, as the length of the lever is squared (simple Newtonian physics) meaning 1 pound of weight on a 7 foot lever applies 49 pounds of force at impact. That is why high-level players have a straight line from the left shoulder to the ball at impact. Some think it gives reliable distances, which it does because the lever length is consistent with the arm being incorporated, but this is created by the length of the lever (lead arm at impact) itself because that 7 feet (arm length coupled to shaft length provides a consistent radius and neither changes length physically. Your arms don't stretch and the shaft doesn't either. When squared that 7-foot lever equals 49 times the weight of the moving club head at impact. They teach the restitution properties of golf balls (smash factor) and how uneven lies are determinate to direction once striking the ball, as the striker plate (angled plate used to describe a golf impact in physics) always places backspin on the ball once struck, so any elevated ball position or any ball that rest below your feet, are automatically altered directions of the launch line and flight characteristics. Here in America, our colleges teach the actual physics in play, so the player isn't fighting universal physics with their swing technique. As a demonstration, Arizona State University tied the physics department to the golf team which benefits both departments, and they actually built additional buildings so the players could use this training effectively in facilities that educate the players. They then coupled their bioengineering department as well, to add to the input the player has access to. It isn't all practice sessions. These universities focus on educating the student through the use of various departmental educational advantages, techniques, and associated equipment they gain access to. They also play of course, so their regimen is through a complete instructional design. I practice at a site where college-level players from more than 10 local colleges use for their practice in the early evenings. I speak with many of them. At times I work with them myself to better my own play. We do little games like "horse" on the greens most of the time. Their focus is mostly about reliable length. That is why they work more on their short game. They know pretty much how far they hit their irons and woods. It is the partial shots they work so hard on, so they have enough feel to develop the required lengths needed for recovery shots.

    Stumbled upon this video just before I went to the practice center today and did a few of the putting drills- to think I never considered adding any kind of regimented practice to the putting green. Instant improvement, most importantly in those 3-5 footers that non-pros like us so often choke on. They add up! Thanks for the tips.

      mebeingU2 Great! I’ll sell you that one mate and then you can come back next week and I’ll sell you the NEW karate kid 2 kick point shaft! Guaranteed 20 extra yards with the new paint job. This new paint we put on it is so thin that you save at least 8-10 shots But that doesn’t work with the fidget spinner head so you’ll have to buy a new one of those too and the grip is sold separately. I promise this will make you a Playaaa!!

      @ChristopherDowning 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep been there done that - and now I drive the ball 635 yards and can't find a course to play - this new kit is sooooo long!! I actually have a wedge and a hybrid I bought new - the rest is hand me downs and secondhand. I love it when I out-drive an expensive new club. Reminds me of this weeks Top Gear where a 1966 Ford GT40 beats four new super cars on the track - Ha! Well for me maybe a 2CV beats a Trabant!

      Kevin I couldn't disagree with you more, I think the karate kid kick point shaft sucks, you need the new G.I. joe kung fu grips, with the twisty face simi soft driver, with the new super long, can't miss a putt balls.

    Probably the most helpful, no pro, practice/tips video! Not sure I have the time to do all of that but I'm certainly going to target parts of my game and use these practice techniques.

    Brilliant vid once again a real inspiration. So much so, I've left the wife & kids, quit my job and now feel I finally have the time to put this practice schedule into my weekly routine and hopefully get my handicap down from 19 to 14
    It will be worth it in the end, I know it will.

      I'm just starting my journey to scratch. Got 4 kids and golf has taken a back seat for 10 years. Now giving myself a good two years to get as low as I can. Starting at 15 handicap so some way to go. Only recently found your videos and I've found them very interesting. Will keep you posted

    I decided to try the practice plan by breaking it out into different days due to my restricted schedule. By really focusing on drills and instead of mindlessly hitting hundreds of balls at the range, I have noticed improvements on the course. I'm also noticing I'm getting a better feel for my swing and the club face. Also, when playing on the course I feel that I'm starting to understand my flaws, which is a lot, but being able to correct it during the practice session. I shot my first par on front 9 with 4 birdies. I had to slow down my practice due to snow but hopeful to continue this progress. Thank you Rob for sharing this plan.

    I like the 20 tee drill! I think what I might do is whatever I make I will put the tees in my right pocket and what I miss in my left. That way I can monitor how I'm doing.
