  • So all the links that were promised are below, here is a quick little blurb on my hawk 250. 4,778 miles at the time of this video, my hawk is a 2019, it has a 110 main jet. Has lots of improvement mods, but no performance mods. Everything I have done to the bike has been documented here on TH-cam, check out my hawk 250 playlist below to see everything I’ve done to the bike! There are also lots of hill climbing and riding videos in the playlist as well.
    At the time of filming this video I had
    Miles: 4,778
    Hours: 159.0 (keep in mind I put this hour meter on the hawk at roughly 375 miles)

    Hey just wanted to thank everyone for all the love and support! Here are a couple videos that should be watched in series, these videos are absolutely critical to the longevity of the hawk 250. As you guys know the rings got toasted on my bike because of the air box, these videos go though the repairs as well as the proper modification of the air box to prevent engine failure in the future. As always, thanks for watching!

    Great video. I put a UNI pod filter on my Hawk right away as I planned to never ride it in mud, creeks, etc., and primarily use it as a commuter bike since I already have some dedicated dirt machines. You make some very important points in this video that Hawk owners need to consider if they are going to do some serious off road riding.

      Yes sir absolutely👍 I really like the uni pod filters, I had a 50cc Honda that had a uni filter on it.. although I think it was still in a air box lol! Thanks for watching!

    I see you're into crawlers too. I have almost everything from axial. Just bought the hawk dlx 2021. Great bike. Changed to 17/45 sprockets, ngk plug and wire, and put more street style tires. Gets about 75 now

      Nice! Iv head the dlx is a great bike like the original hawk. Cool to know there are some other rc guys out there! I just did a build on a Scx10ii deadbolt, it’s something totally different now, video coming soon, I think all the rc fans will like the build. thanks for watching!

    Really Appreciate your videos, thanks man. Head gasket still holding? No oil leakage? the other vid was great.

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The head gasket is still holding believe it or not lol. They bike is doing good overall really, other than the piston kind of slaps at certain rpms. Nothing too concerning really. You can barely hear it, I might just be over reacting lol. Anyway Just kind of a little sketch lol. But it will be fine. Thanks for watching!

    i cut mine away and only left the left part by the battery, then pod filter, i made mistake and didnt put thread locker on the right side rear brake adjust bolt and nut, the thing was backing out on its own and was pushing on the brake lever, before i knew what was going on, the rear brakes was screaming hot, i need to find a tiny air filter pod for that crank case breather tube, hahah yeah, that little hole, what junk that is. now with the airbox cut out i can adjust the shock height with ease. i should find a pod filter extension that i can drill a hole into then hook in the crank breather tube so it will have suction to pull out crank case heat . gotta cut out the exhaust converter, then heat tape wrap the front part of the exhaust pipe, that took down the heat to 450 degrees, when before it was off the charts crazy hot over 700 degrees maxing out my laser temp gun,

    • @AngeredKabar
      @AngeredKabar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that heat was the cat doing it's job.
      Neat how they work by using exotic metals to burn fuel your engine didn't, but it looks like on these bikes they cram so much of the catalytic material in the pipe its basically an exhaust restriction.

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was one of my concerns, I see a lot of hawk riders putting pod filters on but I never see what they do with the crabs case breather. Ideally it would be hooked up between the air filter and carburetor inlet somewhere like you said. Sounds like you found something that works for you! That’s excellent! If it works run with it 🤘. Thanks for watching!

    This is the same mods we did to our 70's Enduro bikes. That was45 years ago
    Deja vu.
    Looks like fun all over.
    Might still buy a 150 Honda dual sport. Rather ride than modify at this time.!!

    This is awesome man. 2 questions- is the air box the same on the dlx 250 efi, and how did you connect the top drain tube to the top drain?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about the efi hawk air box unfortunately. Elaborate on the top connection, not quite sure what you mean about the top tube connection. Everything is gone over in the video in detail lol. Thanks for watching!

    • @vexxkl6558

      @@goodolboys713 the first drain hole above the air filter. You didn’t show the bottom of it :)

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vexxkl6558 ohhh I see what your saying, that one goes through the small clear tube on the inside of the box and straight out of the bottom of the box (it automatically drains the dirty side of the air box) I tried to show it the best I could in the video (watch the part of the video right after I washed the air box and show the different parts and sections of the air box, you can clearly see the through hole drain hole) again , the small clear tube goes from the middle section of the air box and goes out the bottom of the air box. Hopefully this helps, that’s the best I can explain it without making another video. Thanks for watching!

    hey! I have a ssr xf250 dualsport and I wanted to mod it completely. I first wanted to replace the airbox with a pod filter because I only use it for road and wanted a supermoto. I have no idea how to do it but I'll learn, do you recommend it for me?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ssr bikes from my experience are decent bikes! I’d say go for it. Since your not riding off road a pod filter couldn’t hurt, but depends on weather you plan on riding in rain, might be something to consider, also consider where the filter is relative to the front and or rear tire, you don’t want water splashing up on your pod filter if you happen to hit a random puddle or something. All These things considered I see a lot of guys running pod filters so I don’t see why not with the above mentioned stuff considered first of corse. Hopefully this helps, thanks for watching!

    Do you think it would be possible to mod the airbox like you did in the video with out removing from the bike?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure it’s probably possible. Most of the stuff would have to be taken off anyway still. Thanks for watching!
