finally... someone who actually explains the damn timeline instead of saying what gets released when, who made it, and what merchandise came with it

The Stardust Memory/08TH MS Team combo will always be my jam.
With how hard it is to get into the UC timeline, I think it's well balanced by how good everything within it is.
The main issue I had with Hathaway the movie is that the original Hathaway's Flash is a sequel to Beltorchica's Children where Hathaway DOESN'T KILL A TEAMMATE. But Hathaway The Movie is a sequel to CCA, where he very much does.

Other than Mineva Zabi is Dozle Zabi's daughter, and the Fifth Luna was dropped on Tibet, this was an extremely accurate explanation.

well for me its guy with superpowers gets into giant robots, fucks bad guys up while committing genocide, bad guys had a guy with super powers gets into giant robot, fucks good guys and more bad guys up while committing genocide, guy meets girl with superpowers that gets into giant robot, fuck shits up. Girl dies, guy getspttsd and retires temporarily. Guy 2 appears, have superpowers, gets into giant robot and fuck shits up, meet girl 2 with superpowers. Girl 2 dies. Guy 2 gets ptsd and became a vegetable. Guy 3 meets girl 3 with superpowers, girl 3 likes bad guy 1 more, guy 3 stole a giant robot to try and get girl 3 back, girl 3 dies, guy 3 commits a teamkill and gets ptsd. Guy 1 and bad guy 1 had a final fight, both dies and became one with the force. Guy 3 became a terrorist because he can't get over ptsd.
I'd definitely want a late UC explainer that includes f90/f91 and victory
Don't forget Crossbone, since it bridges the gap between F91 and Victory.

Unicorn's message got absolutely tossed aside with the existence of Hathaway's Flash and practically every other Late UC entries. It's like it didn't even leave an impact on the entire world after everything settled in its story.
Same goes with narrative, the movie that doesn't seem to have any reason to exist, rather, it's more like an hour long gundam phenex commercial
nothing was going to change with the reveal of laplaces box, because the elites already consolidated their power on Earth and Zeon was about to become extinct. Also the late UC entries are focused more on the political and technological decline of the Federation due to transition to a civilian controlled govt, lack of willpower, and growing complacent and/or arrogant by thinking they ended all rebellions due to Side 3 rejoining the fold.

I just don't like that it actually got an anime instead of something like, say, Crossbone, which actually bridges the gap between F91 and Victory, and manages to leave a considerable impact onto the world at large compared to... just some Gundam that is apparently the culmination of space magic technology? That Gundam was stored into hiding by the time Narrative came out... what a waste of animation budget.

What’s crazy is it seems HF is more following the novel, which means a very important change that was in the CCA movie isn’t going to be recognized by those who didn’t read the CCA novel.

@@KillerCornMuffin The original CCA was based on a novel Tomino wrote. In it, Quess wasn’t killed by Chan, but she was accidentally shot down by Hathaway. I felt the guilt was more pronounced that way rather than the way she died in CCA.

Okay so I admit that I'm probably going to need to watch the video again to fully understand this whole thing. But here's a probably very stupid question: would it not have been better to unite the colonies against Earth Federation instead of dropping them on people's heads? I mean it's already been established that most people on Earth think lesser of people on the space colonies so there's your motivation to unite right there. One would think you get enough people to Rally to your cause and numbers alone might very well get Earth Federation to surrender and give in to your demands. I mean if I'm not mistaken that was more or less the intention of the Confederacy of Independent Systems in Star Wars.
And my friend, you just mentioned the start of V gundam!
And you also just described Full Frontal's "Side Co-Prosperity Sphere" plan to unite the colonies and economically freeze out Earth to make the colonies the dominant power.
It was actually the nicest and most reasonable plan of the Zeon in the UC timeline.
The ones they dropped remained neutral even when Zeon tried to bully them into uniting against earth iirc
Because situations are never ideal. Not every colony is willing to take the risk of siding against the Earth Feds.

I thought it was great. I was unhappy with the only Gundam we got. The Xi vs Penelope. But i am hoping for more action in the next. The story was great, but I understand it can be hard to follow if you are not a UC junkie.

I know this comment is two years late, but there are large swaths of your video where Gundam jargon is used (names, places, etc.) with no text on screen and just the red mobile suit with the pink and blue background. As someone coming in without any prior Gundam knowledge at all (only brought in because I watched Hathaway and was curious about what led to the events in the movie), this was a very difficult video to follow.
I would suggest either adding more supporting text and maybe an overall timeline on the video so it's easier for new comers to know where we are and what's happening.
I would also add more photos supporting what you're currently talking about, e.g. when a Gundam model is referenced show the actual Gundam being referenced so it's easier to visualize the progress.
I still appreciate your effort, though.
I didn't realize how strung out the Gundam story is. Some of these are back from 80s.
Gundam 0079 and Zeta Gundam are all you ever need. I love the rest of the animes in the Universal Century saga; however everything that came after these first 2 series has felt a bit off. Either you end up with tech that seems way too powerful for the time frame it is set in, or you have characters acting unlike themselves and contradicting all the story laid out in OG Gundam and Zeta.

Agreed! After Zeta, I started disliking anything UC. I can’t finish ZZ for the life of me. CCA was a film that I wanted to love but ended up being hugely disappointed by it. Unicorn was pretty to look at but needlessly complicated.

No one ever claims responsibility andThe Origin explicitly shows how over worked and exhausted Deikun was it’s very possible it was just an ordinary heart attack. Still an officer of Earth Fed but not involved in the frontline. Only signing the document to have Mafty executed after he gets caught. He retired soon after having learned that Hathaway was the one executed.

Why would Zeon rejoin Earth federation when the earth federation clearly still abuses there power? So Meniva just gave up?
in Gundam Unicorn, it was said that Zeon had to give their autonomy to the Federation when UC 100 is come, so it made sense that they weren't exist in Gundam Hathaway event, although at the same time, making Mineva's birth meaningless with the disbandment of Zeon, it would be impossible for her to inherit the leadership .

Hathaway and Quess is technically just civilian to Amuro not friends but I think Amuro doesn’t know Chan died during the time after Chan’s death. But both are the worse because Quess ran away due to jealousy of Chan and her hatred for the Federation. I recommend you reading MSG: CCA Beltorchika’s Children to understand Quess’s true thoughts towards the Federation (in my opinion but its not necessary). For Hathaway without him Chan’s Psycho-Frame warned Amuro of Char surprise attack when the Nu Gundam is in Axis destroying a thruster. So in summary both are whinny kids
Things are not that simple. Amuro's girlfriend fired a missile at Hathaway. If Quess didn't push Hathaway away and get infront of him to take the hit, Hathaway would have been killed instead, by Amuro's girlfriend no less.

Its pronouced with Sh, Char is literally announciated in Japanese as "Sha" with the r almost sounding silent and in the english dub its "Shar".

If there's one absolute about UC, it's that I will always be confused when watching it.
Haha right?!?! Now that the original is condensed into the 3 movies along with CCA, I've re-watch them and leading up to Hathaway again because I was like, how he (Hathaway) turn out like this. Then the event's of CCA when he was thirsty and killed Amuro's girl while throwing a fit.

I do sincerely apologize but it didn't help me very much. The origin of Mafty is vague and unclear as are its members. I couldn't for example tell you the name of the guy with the goatee or girl with the brown hair and glasses name... or the girl with the orange short hair or the girl with the red shaggy hair "Emeralado" I think? There's this whole faction known as mafty and yet I don't know a thing about them and the only thing I can infer about their antifederation sentiments is in small portions "see it or you'll miss it" sections of the movie. Maybe this will be resolved when the other two installments are released but for me while the movie was good it sort of felt like an espionage film going no where and when the Movie Really "Begins" it ends.

They just need to remake the original and reset the story....it is just too convuluted and this coming from somone who watched the og series zeta, chars counter attack, uc. They need to remake the story and really focus in more on the amuro and char story and make zeon a bit less villany . And delete all these unneccasary side tangents that result in nothing cause the status quo kind never shifts. Also stop switching MCs its seems pointless. It would be amazing and very topical with the whole israel palestine x russia ukraine.

I'm even more confused now. This is really hard to follow. You introduced new names of stuff and people with out really explaining what or who they are. This is just a giant word salad. More explanation and even diagrams would help instead of blasting throw the story quickly as possible. I feel like you skipped giant chunks of info in the stories.
