I gotta give a shout out to Graham Aker piloting the Flag in Gundam 00. First he forces the Throne Gundam to a humiliating retreat. Then he trashes Setsuna’s Exia. Sure he caught Setsuna at the end of an intense battle, but I was always very impressed with his abilities. A great pilot who pushed his “Grunt” unit to its absolute max performance 💯
The Flag he piloted at the very end of S1 had a GN Drive Tau, so it was much closer to the gundams technologically speaking. Plus he jumped Setsuna while the Exia had almost no weapons or GN particles remaining. So I wouldn't give him a lot of points for that, especially since he only managed a draw even under those circumstances.
That opening clip from 08th Mobile Suit shows why it’s stylistically my favourite Gundam. The Gundam didn’t feel untouchable or ridiculous, they just felt heavily armoured. The armour was pitted and cracked when it got hit, and the suits took a real beating throughout the show. If I remember correctly, Sanders has his Gundam disabled by a group of Magella attack tanks at one point.
An amazing fight where a grunt won for me. was the solo-one on one duel between Yuji Arkana’s GM Striker and Cortez’s Pixie Gundam. (In the manga: “Mobile suit Gundam: we’re federation hooligans.) Where Yuji was able to take down a pixie Gundam using his beaten, one-armed GM striker in a boxing match (even after the fact pixie had destroyed 7 other mobile suits (who’d teamed up on him all at once) trying to pursue him.) The ending was the most epic thing ever!!! When Yuji uppercutted Cortez in the cockpit so hard, he ripped the pixie RIGHT OFF ITS OWN STANDING LEGS! Look it up. Best fight ever!
@@Blazinter I loved that manga. The drawings were amazing and it helped you understand what was going on for most of the fights. The story was amazing too. GM Striker became my go to suit in GBO2 now because of that.

That Bernie Fight always hit me in the feels; while I'm not sure where I would put 0080 as of yet when it comes to fave series, I do appreciate that the series took a focus more on the Zeon side, if only for a bit.
For all it's gundams being super-durable, Wing Gundam has a couple examples to various extents. Sandrock was used as a decoy and destroyed in combat with Oz, Wing was taken out by Virgos, and Deathscythe was defeated by Tauruses. Their hulks tended to be rebuilt, but they were taken down.
7:50 - I'd call this one more of a stalemate, since the suits pretty much wrecked each other. Also the pilot of the Alex survived, while the pilot of the Zaku didn't.

"I know you're tired of hearing about Raid Shadow Legends" Be honest, that's in the script now, huh. I guess they're self aware that their shitty game is tiresome.
Moody's death is what I see happening to a mobile suit in the Zoids universe. Without plot armor, they get the same treatment. The Zaft pilots must have taken some sick pleasure pulling that stunt. One was enough. Three? This scene also heats what happened to Nicol.
@@Lucivius27 IBO had mostly just people sitting in pools of blood and the rest they let you infer what happened to someone like when, say, Barbatos tore the cockpit out of a suit and squished it. . But Seed liked showing things like the reaction between humans and beam rifle shots ( think of boiling a water balloon until it pops) or ladies getting torn up by doggo mobile suits. Most of the shots they did were just split second things but the one from this video was pretty graphic about it.
Amuro (in Visual Media): Discount Captain America and later Batman with Psychic Powers. Also Amuro (in the novel): Space Jason with less Heroes on his Argo.
Gundam in uc: prototype, only counted if it has the name 'gundam' in it, lacks variety in weapons most of the time Gundam in ce: mostly regular ms for commanders/ace pilots/main characters, wide variety in weapons, mostly battery powered
IBO: The grunts were being slaughtered by Mika till Julietta showed up. And in endless waltz it was stated that gundams were having problems only because they tried not to kill a single person and none of the grunts managed to destroy a Gundam. Ok, Wing Zero was like 50% serpent shots, 20% recoil and 30% prior damage and Gusion could count but both literally only cared about the more important task during their destructions.
Yeah but Barbatos wasn't the only Gundam there was it? And how is that any different from what happened to the Verde Buster, also that why I put Endless Waltz as an honorable mention.
@@bett431 for Wing Zero Endless Waltz version I think Wufei and his Altron Gundam Custom Nataku is the reason Wing Zero trashed after 3 twin buster rifle shots
The Gundam Gusion Rebake Full City was taken down by grunts, but they were armed with orbital bombardment weapons, so not sure if it counts. There's also the Gundam Pixie, defeated for the first time by the planned mass-production type Efreet (although the eventual fate of both pilots wasn't clear), and the Mudrock Gundam, defeated canonically by a Dom, a Zaku II, and a Zaku I Commander in Zeonic Front.
Theres that one time Yzak Joule with his Slash Zaku Phantom took on multiple Gundams and won. They weren't really destroyed but it does go to show just how much Coordinators outclass Naturals in piloting ability, especially with one as experienced as Yzak.
We need more violent deaths like Moody's in other Gundam series. It teaches the consequence of other's actions in war. I'm glad Iron Blooded Orphans followed down that path as it made the story a lot more interesting.

Alex vs Zaku ii might just be the most saddest moment from the gundam series i have ever seen, 2 pilots that are friends yet dont know that are enemies fighting each other is coming to a meaningless come to blows. it gets even worse when Al shows up and witnesses the death of his closest friend he had in that period of time and the almost death of his other best friend, truly heartbreaking yet great ending to a great miniseries.
0080 is without doubt the best Gundam story ever because It shows the real tragedy of war without those ridicolous brutal deaths of bad series like IBO
Honestly, I'd say the Muramasa were the closest a mass produced grunt got to gundam status. Lots of firepower for their great speed, outperforms all the contemporaries of their eras grunts, transformable, work on land air and space equally, and man they put in work in the field.
When you said "Stargazer" in the beginning, I was relieved. I thought you'd never include that. lol thanks for the list. Reminded me of some things I have forgotten already
Honorable mention to the end of the Mudrock Gundam, a respectable machine that was ambushed repeatedly by the Midnight Fenrir and was last seen in combat a couple of weeks before the end of the One Year War. While not destroyed outright it was damaged enough to be last seen in action on December 15th 0079 without ever returning to combat.
I would say the Gelgoog's freebie would count. That would most likely be categorized as a mission kill. Unit 1 was in no shape to fight, but Unit 1 had a better chance than the Cosmic Era units either out of energy, or already crippled when killed. I think it and the ALEX are the only units on this list mentioned that were actually bested, one on one, by a grunt unit in a straight up fight.
That blue Duel Gundam’s pilot’s death was so nightmarishly brutal that I literally had nightmares of my little brother in that situation with me not being able to save him & I cried when I woke up from that nightmare.
Zaku II FZ/Kai at expense of shortened operation time probably alot better then either F or F2 Zakus with the only downside is not alot of Zaku FZs produced by the end of OYW alongside Fritz helm types.
Nice vid, Mudie's death and the Blu Duel's destruction is really brutal. On the other hand, Chaos' destruction has always been a lackluster happening to me. The one thing in my mind was the scene would've been better if the Murasame Pilots where the three Girls Piloting the Astrays' in Seed. A shame that it was done by nameless inconsequential mooks. The Verde Buster's destruction on the other hand is more of a 'The pilot bit more than he can chew'. Not bad though, it shows the consequences of ones action.
I fully know that one of the Gundam messages is that the cycle of violence and hatred needs to be ended, but damn, still human or not the deaths of Mudie Holcroft and Shams Couza were very deserving and karmic.
Lets be real here. Barbatos and Gusion didn't die to grunts. It was the Orbital Bombardment that did it. They held on to what little life they had left after than (thnk god tho that they were still able to kill that idiot Iok Kujan right?) Those two would most likely kill the majority of gallorhorns grunts before a lucky punk got to them. Still, they deserve an honorable mention.
Julieta just got freaking lucky that Mikazuki was literally running on his last bit of life. And Space Guts got in probably the best kill of the series.
@@TheOnixGamer the Gusion's cockpit got penetrated by multiple Reginlaze. (so hard, Gusion's cockpit is missing by the end) it didn't stop space Guts from ending Iok's career though. the bombardment only weakened them.
The list in the vid all showed Gundams dying by not just being outperformed by mp machines. Each situation had circumstances and consequences that unfortunately lead to the defeat when they clearly had superior advantage. With IBO, Mika and Aki both lead hard lives, accomplished a lot together, and suffered their own struggles as part of a family. In the end, despite all their power and dedication, none of it mattered, and they died in the service to what was left of what they held dear. Out of any Gundam death, theirs seemed the most fair to go out on. Also, fuck Iok. He got what he deserved
I love Gundam series/media where the Gundams aren't really invincible but rather just tougher machines. The grunts could take them out if the pilot isn't careful
Just one of the reasons why I hate Kou. He absolutely wasted the first variation and the GP01-FB. And Bernie is a freaking legend. Too bad he's now burgers.
Well, to be fair, had Nina not started acting like a bitch to Kou out of nowhere when he was trying to improve the Gundam's performance and just tried to help him from the get-go instead, he wouldn't waste GP-01. So it's as much on her as it is on Kou.
I think Kou deserves more credit there than intended, he was only intending on testing out his calculations on the GP-01 to see if it would fair well within a fight, and when it didn’t, it was a sign to Kou that he needed more work to do with the Gundam or let Nena do her work with it just so it’s better off for next time, so overall, the whole situation was just testing purposes
Hey Gelgoog Marine Commander Type is still a recognized type. It's not even as specialized as a Gelgoog Jaeger. If it had been a take down by a Bigro, the Zakerello, or Nightengale, then there would be something to quibble about.
Confession: I'm finding myself taken more interest in the Gundam universe. Where is the best place to start. Really like the models. Got myself and RG Class Sazabi. And I will eventually get an RG Zaku II. Taking note that this anime is more dramatic and brutal than I expected lol. Thanks.
A GM would be better for you since you have more customization potential. That and even though the Beam Spray Gun was pretty crappy for a beam weapon, it is still a beam weapon. That and its ease of production make it way better then a Zaku or other Zeek shit can. And it was based on the 78-2.
Theres so many different universes, its best to check the wiki page and find one thats good for you, I personally like Turn A gundam and the latest Iron Blooded Orphans (a very dark and gruesome gundam story) the best.
I recently started watching the whole thing and I'm really enjoying the original series from the 79, didn't aged well but if you are not into watching 43 episodes there are movies that condense the plot.
There are numerous continuities. Much of the early Universal Century timeline (consisting of the 1979 original, Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam, and so on) has some of the more brutal moments. Heck, Zeta Gundam was made during the franchise creator's first major bout of depression symptoms, and for the sheer brutality that he put into the series from it, he earned the nickname "Kill 'em All Tomino".
The first one is valid in my opinion. Also a lesser entry is Murdock gundam from the game Zeonic front. It was merely damaged beyond repair and retired as the war was over it can o ly be taken out by high end mass production suits like the Dom Fund

The Blu Duel being taken out by new the model heavily upgraded BuCue's called the TMF/A-802W2 Kerberos BuCUE Hound after some regular BuCues disabled it was cool. These are specialized mass production designed upgrades to keep the BuCue inline with more modern Seed Destiny MS. They were specially designed for close range combat and could even equip WIZARD packs designed for them. Even more creepy but awesome is the fact that the Kerberos WIZARD pack adds two more heads also armed with beam fangs that auto target whatever the main head targets and one the the Kerberos if you pause the full length video of the Blu Duel taken down is equipped with that WIZARD pack.
It's a bit late, but I just wanted to comment on the last match. You mention the Gundam RX-78-2 not getting the magnetic coating in the novels, but it did. If I recall right, Amuro talks about it with one of the MS Engineers after reuniting with the crew on Luna 2. It's what later enables his Gundam to keep up with the Dom's and Kusco Al in her Elemeth.
Yeah, Blu Duels destruction still hunts me to this day!!! Nicol's death was gruesome, but... Maudy's was something else... That's a TRUE picture of DESPAIR right there.

While he was beaten, the Gundam wasn't destroyed. The title of the video is a bit misleading, but all the items in the list where completely neutralized, not just pushed back
Didn't Ramba Ral beat Amuro in his Gouf by destroying the Gundam's leg in a fight? The only reason why the Whitebase wasn't lost was because friggin' Kai Shiden man up and saved the day.
@@wdcain1 the gundam wasn't destroyed though. And the Gouf wasn't a grunt unit at that point. Plus, I think it was Sayla who was piloting the Gundam when the foot was destroyed.
I wouldn't count the first example; the GP series wasn't that much of an upgrade to the RX-78, and the Gelgoog was designed with the intent to surpass the Gundam's specs.
That was more of a cheap fight than an epic one. The Taurus had been designed to be machine operated so it was able to perform beyond what a human can do, even if he was trained to be a Gundam pilot. And it was a squad of Taurses too, so the odds were stacked even bigger against the Deathscythe.
I was going to bring up the Deathscythe, too. Unoccupied demolition rather than a combat kill, but it _was_ taken out by a Space Leo armed with a Taurus's beam cannon.
@@aetharan4825 In fairness, he did put GP01 getting beaten by Cima in her custom Gelgoog in this video. Yet the GP01 was recovered and modified for space use, later on. So I think the Deathscythe Gundam getting destroyed/beaten by a squad of Taurus qualifies, if we apply the same logic.
No one mentioned Zech completely trashed Wing in its debut scene with a mere Leo? Wing wasn't destroyed at that moment but Zech damaged its flight system, made his Leo locked to it to become dead weight after crash landed into the sea. Pushed Heero to actually eject himself out of his suit.

If I remember correctly, Sanders has his Gundam disabled by a group of Magella attack tanks at one point.
8th MS is a masterpiece because it's real robot in real war.
One of the best Gundam series ever.
And all the best ones are UC ofc.

We're Federation Hooligans is the peak most slept in side story ever.

It was really gruesome. from what I've seen, more than the deaths in IBO
@@Lucivius27 IBO had mostly just people sitting in pools of blood and the rest they let you infer what happened to someone like when, say, Barbatos tore the cockpit out of a suit and squished it. . Gundam in ce: mostly regular ms for commanders/ace pilots/main characters, wide variety in weapons, mostly battery powered
Well let's see, we could have also had the ending to IBO and maybe an honorable mention to Endless Waltz since the Gundams were in a no win situation.
Mika fought till his death, Julietta only claimed Barbatos' head later to signify the battle being over
Yeah but Barbatos wasn't the only Gundam there was it? And how is that any different from what happened to the Verde Buster, also that why I put Endless Waltz as an honorable mention.
On IBO, mika loses because of the dainsleif that make the heavy damage to barbartos and also blood loss maybe?
@@bett431 for Wing Zero Endless Waltz version I think Wufei and his Altron Gundam Custom Nataku is the reason Wing Zero trashed after 3 twin buster rifle shots

RIP Gundam Barbatos and Gusion.
@Angel Alvarado as far as im concerned, Dainsleif were IBO version of nukes, and should not be seen in the same league as grunt weapons.

A GM would be better for you since you have more customization potential. That and even though the Beam Spray Gun was pretty crappy for a beam weapon, it is still a beam weapon. That and its ease of production make it way better then a Zaku or other Zeek shit can. And it was based on the 78-2.
You mean show wise too, right?
