I like zodiac one better the rhythm is so crisp and engaging. It really brings everthing out and shouts “hey listen to me!” And fun to see which instrument the spotlight I never paid attention to this in original. Upper rabanestra was my shit back then. But yea this so far one that i really like
The single octave is indeed what tainted this track a bit for me. I like the original just a little more for that reason. On another note. This is what I like. A player that just casually walks and speaks with the NPC, able to fully immerse themself in the atmosphere, and enjoy it for what it is. Not many players actually do that, but the ones that do enjoy the game for all it has to offer rather than just playing to get everything. That's what Final Fantasy is about in my opinion; walking and exploring everything.
@@mediumvillain original one is just low resolution so it sounds quiet. I dont like all the remastered songs but this is one is nice. They really improved the clarity.
I prefer the original, I listened to the entire soundtrack of the original and then Zodiac, they improved some of the music, this is not one of them, ''Wise as I may not be, but well-informed I am''
Specifically what happened? Actual live flute players versus emulated flutes. But yeah, it's *definitely* a difference in sound that changes the tone slightly.
Ben Parent, they are playing the same notes. I lack the musical terminology to describe it properly, but I believe the flutes in the original instrumentation are playing (in ascending order of pitch) a fifth, a tonic, and an augmented forth. It's the same in this version, but the augmented fourth is much quieter than the fifth, perhaps as a consequence of their position in the orchestra, so it loses the strikingly dissonant quality of the original. I THINK that's what's going on here.
@@CasparLeones They are the same note, but NOT the same pitch. The final note(and the same one in the riff before) in the flute melody is an entire octave higher. I liked the original version better, and this is honestly the only track in the remaster I don't prefer.
Clearly you lack the "musical terminology". You speak as one mostly attuned to the vagaries of the realm. Your commentary beckons adoration of your edurite ways. Though, you already knew that , didn't you. Pathetic.
Original (OST version, not the lower quality PS1 version) has better overall range of dynamics, Zodiac Age one feels more balanced dynamics range which sounds pleasant, but not as grand as the original.
Honestly, that single octave change in the flute harmony from the original just TOTALLY ruins it for me. The only remaster track I don't prefer to the original.
From someone who played The Zodiac Age before listening to the original, the reverse feels the same. In the original it sounds too pitched up and out of place. But I feel you, it's hard when they change things that are deep carved in our memories.
gonna say prefer the orignal.....i grew up with ffx and ff12 the remasters just changed some of the great tunes into meh ones.....dont fix what aint broke
I dunno if i watched to listen the song or see this guy walking with vaan talking to everyone lol
We need more Ivalice FF
@@cabelo_na_chuva Its the announcement i hope to see in tokyo game show
Ivalice via current S.E will be pathetic.
@@EldgardHammerheart-m9g Def would need to bring back Matsuno if they were attempt an Ivalice game. He is the soul of that setting.

Makes me want to yell "Hey Buckethead" at the top of my voice
One of my favorites in the original! This is pretty faithful to it, but the flutes(?) were jarring at first. Definitely some subtle differences there
Love the clapping
The Part with the strings is ear sex
I've never heard anyone use that analogy, but you are SPOT ON!!
Applies to just about all of Hitoshi Sakimoto's music.
ear candy

It's because of areas and music like this that IMO FF12 has the best atmosphere of any FF game.
Totally agree
The original flute part sounded like HS band practice. It's definitely a nostalgia thing that ppl prefer it bc it's the one that in their memory.

There is SO much hidden dialogue / side-quests in this game, I've played it three times but I feel like I've barely scratched the surface
Overall i prefer this version. the difference in melody i don't really care about, but when it comes to audio balance this version is stronger.
I've played ff12 on ps2 for about only 10 hours, but when i first saw lowtown i loved it.
Some parts sound exactly like "Africa" by Toto.
Maybe another reference to John Williams' Star Wars Episode I score? (Desert Winds) I kinda like it.
A little Spyro the dragon in there
I like this version so much more than the original
Is that an oboe? Its really nice.
Honestly one of the only locations of the game I really honestly liked
And you go there like...twice..for like a combined 10 ish minutes.
More , with the quests 🙃 .
Listen to this while I study

I much prefer this version, the original sounds way too much "weird" to me, the melody here keeps me dancing and clapping too hahaha
