Dear client, today I'm more Harry Brown than Get Carter. Let's take a rain check. I sympathize.

I like the solution that Andy Serkis drank after playing Gollum for the 1st time. I’m glad you’re back.

@@CrownStagVoiceover it's called 'Gollum juice'. It's a disgusting mix of things that soothe a shredded throat. The recipe is out there. Benedict Cumberbatch also was given it doing Smaug.

@@CrownStagVoiceover it isn’t that bad. Mostly ginger honey and lemon juice. If you have extended version it’s on the part that goes over his animation process. I’ll get more specific if you need to.

Hi Neil. I'm interested in joining you on the discord thingy. Now, I'm assuming that you are 6 hours ahead of me. I'm in USA Central time zone. I'm going to search through your video titles to see if you have any info about how the whole thing works, as far as me participating. Thanks again for making these videos. I find them very valuable.

I've struggled with Dysphonia recently myself also. Skywind wanted me to do some realy gravely raspy sound for there Ork and I pushed my vocal cords to the point I was hurting them to reach it, messing it up badly. My voice is normally silky-smooth so it was a hard thing for me to even try anyway, but now Ive got the steam trick to help me in the future if there's ever another opportunity. ^^

Happy Monday, Neil! I have a question. Do you have a video -- or would you consider doing one? -- on the sounds made (often called clicks) specifically and most often by British speakers? When I record, and enunciate my consonants in the usual way, I can see the isolated spike (like a little chip) in the waveform, where I've finished, say, the T of 'perfect'. I try to dampen those down with a fade out -- or fade-in, as needed: if I remove them completely, it sounds as though I'm saying 'perfec'. Now, perhaps 'perfec' is what I should be saying for most auditions, as I am in America and that's perhaps what most clients are expecting to hear, anyway. But what about when they ask specifically for 'British English'? Presumably they then want the Full Monty, which brings us back to those explosive consonantal sounds. Because, to my ear, it's not really British without them -- certainly not as I speak. Any thoughts, suggestions would be most appreciated -- hopefully also by your other listeners/viewers. Thanks -- Amanda

Hi Amanda, so in my experience click are usually referred to a the mouth noise that creeps in, pop and clicks from saliva etc. I have never heard of it being referred to hard consonants. Has someone given you specific feedback on that? For the British English - usually what they are looking to hear is a Home Counties / south east / RP sound (usually).

@@CrownStagVoiceover Hi Neil, thanks very much for that -- what you describe is my understanding as well. However, the platform I use has got me so paranoid about the subject that I wonder whether my south England accent is 'misheard' as clicky by Americans.Have asked them directly to explain, but it's hard to get a clear answer. Anyway, I appreciate your reply.
