    I'm a filmmaker and just stumbled across this... never even thought about people going after a voice acting career! But good points for life in general lol.

    commenting to say it's really refreshing to hear your voice over youtube channels like looper etc, keep up the content you're an inspiration

    No, you don't sound like an arse. This advice is what I have heard repeatedly from the people who trained me to other successful talent, including you. I have actually made money on Voices after only 3 months on the platform, so I have the talent. Direct marketing for me will be it. Thanks immensely...and I will continue to submit on Voices, but I am looking at Voquent, Upwork, Fiverr, and some others...I am motivated after seeing this video, thanks so much. My family needs me to be successful, and I will be.

    I'm someone who's worked in both retail and corporate jobs and in both situations I've often had clients tell me that I have such a good, deep voice for radio/TV.
    I've been meaning to try voice over work for a while now but have been too scared/lazy to start since I only had an account with Voice123. This list of websites is inspiring since I had no idea there was this many reliable websites to apply through.

    I was shocked when you said you get most of your jobs from direct marketing. That’s great! I always thought it wouldn’t be as good to go to them directly. As always, thanks for the great advice!

    I always tell new voice artist to "Spread your net wide" You may flourish on one platform and go nowhere on the next. You just never know. Get your beautiful voice out there everywhere you can!

      It’s so important to be as available and as widespread as possible. In the gig economy you have to just keep going

    What's up Neil! First off man, you don't sound rude at all. If you made this video without your knowledge and experience, then you'd be an ass. But you are succeeding & continually growing, so what you are saying is simply the truth to those who aren't yet moving.
    This video helped me though man! I need to become more active then I have been. Granted, being in a financial situation which forces you to get a day job doesn't really help the time management 😅 I'll get there one day.

    Thanks Neil! Your videos have been a HUGE help🙏🏽✨ I've been doing well on voices (3-5 jobs a week) but need to scale. You are right!
    I'm concerned about scaling to voice123; the amount of info, data entry, & sample uploads seems endless. Am I missing the boat by only being on 1 pay to play & other free sites?

    Very sound advice! Thanks for the link I just hopped on voquent the other day so I wasn't aware of that link! I know that this is probably the improper way of asking but I've been wondering how you went about creating a rate sheet for yourself, I know it's different for everyone but I'm trying to get an idea of what it would look like professionally. If that's too much no worries thanks in advance and love your content Neil!

    These are great tips! I'm looking into getting started just to do some side work on top of my normal job. I went to school for audio and broadcasting, worked in radio for a year, and have been working customer service ever since. Now I miss and wouldn't mind making a little bit of extra cash.....if you see this do you have any extra tips for my scenario? Or at least getting started without access to a lot of resources (time and money mainly)
    If you had a specific set of platforms for a newbie what would you suggest?

    Great advice Neil! Here’s the Million dollar/pounds question ? What are your thoughts on using a “Marketing Service” like “VO Marketing Pro” here in the US? Do you hire out your marketing or do it yourself? My own thoughts are is if someone has found the “Holy Grail” of marketing …why would they give it away! Any thoughts ?
    Thanks !

    • @CrownStagVoiceover
      @CrownStagVoiceover  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never heard of them to be honest, let me put it this way. If I could pay someone - £300 a year (for example) get the same or better results as I get now and NOT have to spend the time I do marketing, I’d pay it. But I don’t know anyone who could give me those numbers. If there is…. I’d give it a punt.

    Probably need to audition more project's

  • @andobreslin8735

    I'm doing ok so far. I'm focusing primarily on Video Game voice work. I've already done voices for a LOTRs Mod Video Game. The reason for this is because I want work where my strength is and it's character Voices. I'm aiming to build the CV with a body of work before approaching Agencies. I get it. I understand that you need credentials. So once I've accumulated about 10 interesting indie Video Game
    projects, I'll hopefully have the proof to an Agent that I'm offered work for a good reason. You might advise to try all types of Voice work, but the competition for them is intense & more likely to be time lost imo.

      I do say to try and be as varied as possible. I do as much e-learning work as I do character

    • @andobreslin8735
      @andobreslin8735 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CrownStagVoiceover I have auditioned for e learning and also adverts via Mandy, but I think the competition is intense. Plus they're looking for distinct accents these days. I'm following my gut instinct. I understand your philosophy of 'fingers in as many pies' for the sake of consistent work but I'll see how the next 6 months progress 👍🏻

    Do you do any cold calling or do you only do email marketing (for direct marketing)?

    • @CrownStagVoiceover
      @CrownStagVoiceover  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I avoid cold calling where possible. It’s time consuming, difficult to get a good response and soul crushing on a good day lol for me anyway. I have build 10’s of thousands of contacts over the years so calling 1-1 is just not an effective use of time
