I'm a writer, approaching 30+ published books this year. Over the years, I've turned to dictation as a primary tool for getting my stories down. I'm more productive when I dictate into a Sony recorder rather than sitting at the desk and getting too caught up in self-editing. I've improved all my gear, outlining, and storytelling ability to where my recordings are transcribing well (I typically produce 5K-7K good words per day after editing). Still, there are a lot of errors that cost me time to fix on the back end. I mumble, and I have really poor enunciation, although I'd been working (a little) to improve that. This is my full-blown effort to improve my enunciation and produce fewer errors in my dictation. It could potentially save me a ton of hours per month in self-editing. The lip trills are also a familiar exercise to a lot of brass players, especially if you are practicing your Embouchure without your mouthpiece. I delight in all the interconnections between voice work and music, even for those of us who weren't using our voices to produce out music.

Hi Darren, first of all thank you for such wonderful warm ups. It surely helped a lot to loosen up my voice. Currently I am working as a marketing professional and sometimes I have to do voiceovers, one of my problem areas is diction. Apart from that I have a neutral and flat voice. Do you have any tips or insights for me on how to improve my voiceovers? I just want to develop a naturally upbeat voice as most of the voiceovers are for corporate videos.
Speak the text through with your little finger in between your teeth before you record. This will brighten up the articulation. Also if you want to get better. Listen to others and practice reading aloud every day!
Okay, let me try this for 10 days and see how it goes: 1. Yawn 10x 2. Lip trills 20 seconds 3. Tongue trills - 20 seconds 4. Bahdahgah spell - as many as you can in one breath 5. Mah nah lah spell - as many as you can in one breath I'll give an update on June 05, 2020. Cheers! ___________ UPDATE! (JUNE 05) FYI, I recorded a short speech before I started these exercises, and then today I did a recording for the same speech. Here is my observation: No obvious change in my voice yet, but the latest recording shows that I'm now less breathy. Overall, I think that this is still a good improvement, but 10 days is such a short period to really show results. I'm incorporating this into my daily routine for at least 3 months. I'm excited to share with you the updates! 👍 Cheers!

Let’s Get It - Thanks for your rapid response. When is the best time to seek coaching. I have been practicing on my own. Semi pretreated room. Record on Procaster Pro….learning how to use GarageBand. Is there another interface I should be using Audacity, Adobe, Studio One
As a voice actor I’ve long had a problem with L to R and R to L words and would love a breakdown and possible exercise expressed from you if ever possible. Thanks for all you’ve done.
Thank you for this information. I have vocal cords that were damaged and my voice is weak and breaks up constantly. Daily people complain about hearing me. I will be working on this daily! I love speaking to large groups and I haven't been able to in the last 6 years.
Gena Dillon have you spoken with a speech therapist?
Yes I did and went several times but was not seeing any benefit after 4 months.
@@genadillon5849 I know this is a very late reply, but have you found anything to help you? I'm currently going through the same scenario as you
Commenting so that this helpful video achieves better reach in the TH-cam community!!!
This will be like a second language to me. I love it. Thank you! 😊
Stephy Lane great!💪🏻
Lip trills ... can't EVEN! Never could. Finger assistance helps only for a few seconds at a time so that's what I've been doing. Such a good tip.
Did you see my video on it?
@@ImproveYourVoice No I have not, however, will search your YT ch tomorrow. Gosh, its quite the exercise. I am sure a lot of people stop snoring after doing all of your exercises. 😁
@@ImproveYourVoice Oh, and thankyou.
@@ImproveYourVoice ... only found your tongue trills video on your TH-cam channel so far.
I'll be attempting this for two weeks to see if my voice improves in social circumstances (I tend to mumble and stutter then). While I know that this is more caused by social anxiety I am hoping that it will be more of a confidence booster to know that I trained my voice to speak clearly xD
thanks for the excersises you presented in the video ^^

Than you! Very lovely comment can I help with anything?
@@ImproveYourVoice no... thankyou for asking dear
Sanskrit is the best language ever. The one that lets us use our vocal system to its fullest possibility.
I’m an aspiring actor and I find I tend to slur my words or they come out muddy and unclear. This should help with that thanks!
Lol, you should see the look my cat is giving me doing these exercises. "I guess he finally cracked... damn it, is this lunatic still going feed me?!"
Dogs at least join in when you make these sounds!
Well, you should've seen the look my wife had while I was tryin' these out :)
Oh My goodness, lol
Jajajaja, same! My dogs stared at me like: «Wtf are you doing, you bitch? Anyway, I love you, though». 😂😂😂😂
Same xD
Thanks I got New TH-cam Channel from this video to learn more knowledge and improve my voice.
every time I cry I will do these so that I don't have to see myself ugly cry
I thank God I was blessed with this naturally
I really really enjoyed this video! As a business owner/ working professional time is valuable and I just wanted a few tips before I go into a board of directors meeting, prior to this I watched a TH-cam vid with a lady which was over one hour long and at the end kept teasing exercises- which didn’t materialize. Your video was curt, straight to the point and very useful! I love it! Subbed, liked and shared !
Thats brilliant. I'm even finding ways to shorten them more. Glad to be of service!

triszya gorostiza ha ha amazing!!! Hi from Finland 🇫🇮 I hope these videos are of benefit to you! Maybe you should invite your sister... wait no... the whole community to join you. Stay safe. What brings you to. U channel anyway?
Thank you for the exercises! I just visited your site and am looking forward to your first week course. :)
I havent been so excited about learning new stuff in a long time, this is great!
Reminds me of Joey, from the comedy series Friends, trying to learn French! i.e. when I'm trying these out!
Watching this and trying along with it while sleep-deprived. I keep having to stop the other exercises to yawn. So... at least I'm doing great at that one!
Loved your video! Can't wait for more material like this!
Subscribed already! Great job and thank you! 😇😍
Thank you, I hope you find more useful material here.
Good luck to me trying this video, your voice is so relaxing I'm drifting to sleep only 20 seconds in
i dont talk much n when i try to talk i feel like my tongue has bcome thick ...n thats making my voice sounds like childish type ....i feel so embraced
You need to speak more in order to build up the muscles concerned with your speech. Then you’ll begin to sound more like as you please!
@@ImproveYourVoice thank u soo much...sir
I am suffering from same problem plz help
Same response then I guess. Exercise your articulators and practice speaking with clarity
Amazing exercises - I will be making these part of my daily routine. Thank you so much for your time and very generous wisdom.
aaaah....This is how great spirit lyrics were orginated
I rechecked if I am watching an effective communication or Yoga Guru doing some throat exercise.
Whatever..your voice is good and effective👌
I actually had puberphonia and after voice therapy my problem was resolved I took the therapy 7 months ago. But now I have to talk, suddenly make more noise and suddenly make less noise and then suddenly voice crack. And I can't talk for long, I have to breathe repeatedly for a long time, otherwise my voice is down and it is difficult to speak, now you can recommend me some of your videos please.
The lip trills are also a familiar exercise to a lot of brass players, especially if you are practicing your Embouchure without your mouthpiece.
I delight in all the interconnections between voice work and music, even for those of us who weren't using our voices to produce out music.
Fantastic. I guess if you consider the voice as an instrument you are already in that space!
6:00 the next slim shady?
The Finnish slim shady.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Will the RRRRReal slim shady please pay day gay!
James O'Brien careful I might do a version like that!
@@UnknownUser-cw3qr Thanks. Made my day 😂
This right here is simple and effective. Thank you for putting this together.
I would love to speak like Daniel Hannen....but with an Irish Accent.
Just found your channel. I grew up in London, but now live in LA and though I’ve lost my English accent years ago and I’ve never lost the fact that I don’t role my “r”s. Lol.
Love it. Thank you !
Thank you!
You are SUCH a great resource to share with my VO students. I love sending 'em your way!
Wow, thank you!
What the hell. Was feeling sleepy at the start of this vid. just did the yawn 10 times thing and now I'm wide awake. That is some hack.
Never thought of it like that but... yeah!
Thank you i have tremendous improvement in my articulation.
7:25 Sounds like Dothrakian from Game of Thrones haha
Thank you this is exactly what I was looking for and I will check out your website and spread the word cheers
Just so you know the website has changed to vocabilities.com
Bruh i just woke my mom up from her sleep its 3 am. She came in my room and told me do you hear weird voices. I told her that’s our weird neighbor’s kid. I’m never telling her the truth😂.
Omg! These comments are so funny 😂
Even though i am a normal guy, i speak telugu so these i learned at 2nd or 3rd class. Never knew they are this useful
Yung mga nanonood pra sa school can heart this . HAHAHA CAPSU anyone?
Okay, let me try this for 10 days and see how it goes:
1. Yawn 10x
2. Lip trills 20 seconds
3. Tongue trills - 20 seconds
4. Bahdahgah spell - as many as you can in one breath
5. Mah nah lah spell - as many as you can in one breath
I'll give an update on June 05, 2020.
Cheers!

UPDATE! (JUNE 05)
FYI, I recorded a short speech before I started these exercises, and then today I did a recording for the same speech. Here is my observation:
No obvious change in my voice yet, but the latest recording shows that I'm now less breathy. Overall, I think that this is still a good improvement, but 10 days is such a short period to really show results. I'm incorporating this into my daily routine for at least 3 months. I'm excited to share with you the updates! 👍
Cheers!

@@ImproveYourVoice Hi, I was wondering if you got any tips on doing the tongue trills? I still can't hold mine for at least 5 seconds straight.
its been a year now, have you notice an improvement?
