Detailed down to the final t. I'm not necessarily putting in a backup cam, but this was WAY more informative than any other source out there regarding a double din installation. Thank you good sir, you have saved me a weekend worth of headaches!
I just bought a 2002 Dakota SLT Quad cab 4.7L from a relative for $1,100. It had 150K miles on it. Runs great. I live in Salisbury, NC. I want to do the same thing with a touch screen and backup camera. Great video.
Just an FYI in case you do any further wiring, there are almost always extra holes cut into the cabs of pickups for this exact reason, they are filled with a rubber plug to prevent water ingress. You can pop out the plug and put a hole in it to pass the wire through. If it looks like you need to, you can fill in any gaps around the plug's new hole with sealant - no need to drill new holes in the cab. Also, if you didn't do so, make sure that you paint the new hole so that it doesn't rust. I put a backup camera on the tailgate latch of my Dakota as well, but rather than drill a hole through the plastic there is a lot of open area underneath the handle where you can feed the wire.
Look for the violet with black stripe wire on the rear of the inside fuse box, opposite side of the fuses, its on the upper right corner, it feeds 12V when you engage reverse. It'll avoid having to connect at the rear tail light.
Hey liked the video! I was just wondering I have the same exact truck and I'm looking to buy a tool box for it but don't know what size will work. What Size is your tool box?
From crutchfield I ordered the following: antenna adapter item#12040CR10 wiring harness for receiver item#120706502 faceplate - Item #120956547B pioneer dmh-1500nex - Item #130DM1500 instructions Item #0000160045 (free) Crutchfield is really good about checking compatibility with your vehicle. They also offer tech support as you install and run into challenges.
Hey not bad, but.........y didn’t you use a different back up camera? I have mine mounted in the same spot but an 1” lower and it flush mounted and it’s also wireless. It will get damaged they way you have it mounted. Other than that it’s a sweet 2 din install. Now u just need the under seat twin 12” subs! Sounds amazing in my ride! Keep it up!!
That's kind of crazy what you did?Put it on the television the back of camera. Why didn't you put it on the live?Simply or to look a lot more better jesus
