      Well I understand. However, you are not watching a Steven Spielberg production. I went to your channel and noticed you have not made any videos. So, I will make you a deal!!! I will make sure I improve my videos and at the same time I want you to make one video of something you like. I will watch it and enjoy your effort. This is a very difficult thing to do on a budget as there is only one person producing the entertainment. There is no one else doing this. Including----- Ideas, Filming, Production and Editing, Sound and Lighting. I hope you enjoy my other productions and I truly want you to enjoy my other videos.

      Ignore the critique trolls.
      They can fix their own machines with no help from TH-cam,since they seem to know so much.

      @@BrucesShop I was trying to put a mower together that was given to me and had already been taken apart. I ordered all the new parts carburetor, plug, coil, and i wasn't sure on how the rods went on the carb. I had hoped to see this in your video. I was a bit frustrated so if i came across as a jerk i do indeed apologize. I can only imagine how difficult it must be trying to produce good video while filming and working alone. I did however find your governor adjustment very helpful. Take care.

      Hi was wondering if you had any insight on a problem I have. I had to change the carburetor because the mower would only work on choke and would die on HI or LO positions. I didn't change anything else. When I pull the lever out of choke down to the Hi position the rpm is pretty much the same but when I put it on the LO position there is no change in engine speed which seems to be ok for the Hi position. The motor is GVX120 4.4HP 1 cylinder.
      The governor arm is free to move if I push on it revs faster. There are no restrictions either on the idle arm where the 2 governor rods attach on the carb.
      Any Idea?

    • @Brian.C.
      @Brian.C. ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JazzyScat Try removing the cable that attaches to the carburetor that goes to the lever for your choke and engine speed. Then with that off try manually at the carburetor turning down your engine speed. You also may need to unscrew the throttle position screw on the new carburetor. You will see a little screw that pushes against the paddle flap thing on the carburetor making it stay open too far. Try the screw first if not that then remove that cable and do it manually if that works then your throttle cable needs to be adjusted.

    I paid $20 for a Honda that was given up on because no compression. I did valve adjustment and it seemed good. Then I put it back together, and no compression. I tore it down again, and again. Finally I found a Steve video about the OHV valve cover and interference. I looked, and it did have a dent. Hammer Time! And that was the problem. It runs great. I learn more from my failures than my successes. That Honda taught me a lot. I love all the stuff I have learned from Bruce, Mick, Steve, Zippo, Donyboy73, and Muskie. I still have a lot to learn, but it keeps me busy and out of the Tavern. Thanks Bruce & everyone!!

      I have had 3 of those engines with the dented valve cover. One was a generator. You should make a video. It is a great experience. (A bit humbling too)

    • @haneyoakie14
      @haneyoakie14 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bruce Pender I had no idea those OHV were so susceptible to the cover being dinged. Easy to do, since it is the front of the mower. Cutting tight into bushes, around fire plugs, etc, it is easy to bang into stuff. Another reason why the Quantum is superior.

    I continue to be amazed at your ability to diagnose more than one problem on these machines. This is a nice mower but had some problems to get fixed. I have not messed with governor problems yet and hope I don't have to do that. Sometimes when you pump your lift you do it in fast motion. I would like to see you pump your lift with one foot then quickly switch to the other and see that in fast motion. Shucks you could do that switch several times. As usual fantastic job with the mowers. Thanks again. Stay warm and healthy.

      Chris. Thanks a lot. My trouble shooting is just a sequence that can change as I go through the problem. Lets have a little fun.
      Does the engine turn (pull rope or worse is it seized), Is there a spark at the plug (stop cable or coil), Will it fire with priming? Will the carb flow fuel? Now it is running. Next, will it stay running? Will it turn off? Blade is sharp? Are the wheels ok? Air filter and oil--- I always do that. Fix a few ugly things. LOL Of course this isn't all of it but you watch me so you can see me doing these things. I did this little description for fun. I can't believe folks watch me doing it. Thanks for watching as well.

    Noticed that you didn't go through the agony of removing replacing the sealant from the valve cover ... my least favorite repair job. Glad to see that it's not leaking. A couple of years ago I made an impression of the part of the cover where the sealant resides and cut a gasket out of basic Fel-Pro 3157 gasket material. After two mowing seasons, no leaks. I also made a template out of stiff cardboard so I can make future gaskets as needed. Never understood why Honda insists on sealant when Briggs, Kohler & others employ simple gaskets.

On one hand you want to give them props for trying but then you want to scream when you find out what they have done. My son bought a mower and wanted me to fix it. It was really butchered and I was getting verbal about people trying to fix things that they can't. So my son says they are just trying to make it work and I said I understand that but my problem is then some poor shlub like me has to deal with what the previous owner has done which sometimes can be irritating. I've come around to these Honda automatic chokes. Mine's in season #6 without a hint of trouble -- one pull & go. If/when it needs a new wax hoozits, it gets one. Sad to see a Honda that doesn't run right for dumb reasons, though. Aerosol gasket remover makes it easy to clean the old rocker cover. As for the owner tinkering with his machine -- that's pretty much how we all learned this stuff back when, wasn't it? Lotta years ago! There is a brass jet inside the carb tube or tunnel. Use a straight shank screw driver to remove it. Clean the inside of that and the emulsion tube behind it. Google everything you can think of that helps. Do not play with the governor.

I have rebuilt the carb , I have removed it 5 times now and thoroughly cleaned it. Reemed all orifices, still I am getting No spray out the emulsion tube into the carb. My philosophy is if you don't know how to work on it leave it alone , That's just my philosophy , One can do more harm than good working on some thing not knowing what your doing . My old Honda engine has the manual choke lever , not fond of those Automatic chokes . Those Honda gaskets have too be just in line , I've had people bring them too me they've done everything right and leave it with me and I'd just put them in line and it would run just fine .

    Excuse me asking but why was the dinged valve cover a problem? It seemed you just fixed the front with the "OHC" (or "Honda") on it. As long as the sides are not bent there should be no problem with engine running. Even if the sides are bent it "only" will leak oil but won't affect the engine running smooth.

    • @thomasr.5443
      @thomasr.5443 19 วันที่ผ่านมา
