Honestly I wish there was a scene of Dewy going into the “stabathon”, seeing the recreation of his sister’s death, and him visibly upset. It would’ve set up a distaste for how his family tragedy has been trivialized

    • @ZackCherry
      @ZackCherry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +54

They definitely deleted a scene where he talks about Tatum with Judy, who doesn’t seem to know any details about the original woodsboro murders. Probably for the best though as she acted like she had no idea who Tatum was, even though she supposedly went to school with her and Sidney and would have been well aware of the murders from the past.

In the original it didn't even show him being upset over Tatum's death, like Sid, even though she was in danger she froze and had some tears well up. But it didn't even make it into the script, and I was like damn. Tatum dies suddenly never gets mentioned again.

Their was a scene with Charlie, Sidney, and Kirby where Charlie wanted to come inside but Kirby wouldn’t let him. It was very reminiscent to the scene from The Faculty (1998). The one where Stokely wouldn’t open the door for Stan because she was afraid he might’ve been one of the aliens.

🤔Or it's just another one of those time honored used cliche's of people being too scared to let the odd 1 out inside...🙃

I can't believe I never realized that Charlie being taped to that chair and Jill asking Kirby asking horror movie trivia was supposed to be a recreation of Casey being asked those questions while Steve is stuck in that situation. How did I not realize this earlier?! It was so obvious! Thank you, Zack, for pointing that out.

  • @ryanstauffer119

Jill betraying Charlie is not just a callback to Scream 2. You see, in Scream 3, Roman revealed to Sidney that he told Billy to have a partner with him to blame all the murders on just in case things didn't go according to plan. In the first Scream, Billy cut Stu to deep. Billy was willing to kill Stu so he could be the soul survivor. Therefore, Jill betraying Charlie was her just still following the source material with Billy willing to kill Stu.

In the Grudge the house is technically “possessed” by the family that was murdered by the father. This may be the reference referred in the movie.

The writing on the wall in the alternate Marnie and Jenny scene could be a reference to "Urban Legend" (1998). Namely, when Natalie wakes to find her roommate Tosh murdered and "Aren't you glad you didn't turn on the light?" painted on the wall in Tosh's blood.

I was playing a game with my sister for this video, you said there was 65 references made in the movie. So my sister and I numbered a paper 1-65, played the video and began to write how many horror movies we could think of. One of the rules being to not name movies that have been just name dropped. And I won, getting 64 of 65. We couldn't name sequels unless two franchises were merged (AVP for ex.) and if it was a different killer (Friday the 13th: A New Beginning for ex.) Since I know a lot of slashers and Stephen King movies, that made up most of my list. My sister's was mostly filled with 80-90s horror movies along with a few new ones sprinkled in. For anyone wondering she got 60 of 65. So really close.
My sister and I will often play games like this out of boredom and to also make the video watching more fun.

The scene in which Kirby isn't sure if she should let Charlie in (right before Ghostface calls her to play the game) is a callback to The Faculty where there is a nearly identical scene. This is because both films were written by Kevin Williamson and I guess he likes to reference himself.

Wait a minute. Sid wasn’t suing for using her likeness but using her story. So Stab made stuff up.

Halloween might have meant the franchise itself.

Great list. My thoughts. The "Friday the 13th Thrown thru window can be seen in virtually every one if you wanna get picky. Thrown thru the window-
F 13th Parts one (Brenda somehow thrown thru window by Pamela)
Part two (Jason crashes thru window to get Ginny)
Part three (Rick thrown thru window by Jason)
Part 4 (Tina pulled out window by Jason/Rob thrown thru window by Jason. (and Tish and Jason both crash thru windows/doors)
Part 5 (Reggie’s Grandfather thrown thru window by "Jason")
Part 6 (Paula thrown thru window by Jason. I think Jason also crashes thru a door)
Part 7 (Robin tossed thru window by Jason/ Jason jumps thru window)
Part 8 (Charles (Rennie’s Uncle thrown thru a window by what must be a teleporting Jason)
Part 9 (Steve and Jason go thru a window during end fight)
Part 10 (Sargent Marcus thrown thru a metal door by Jason)
Also in "I know What You Did Last Summer" Helen calls her Deputy Chauffeur "Barney Fife" so that could be a reference as well.

Amityville Horror literally draws parallels to the Defeo family, and how story wise the relationship is eerily similar between the newer family moving in. In the remake we ignore the second one and see Ron kill his entire family at the beginning, and that movie came out half a decade before this one.

OK I got a few things to say about scream 4 that maybe people haven't noticed or it went right under them is ok since it's a 4th sequel, I picked out a iconic well known similar scene from the 4th Halloween film being kind of nodding to the particular scene where Jamie and Rachel are being pursued by michael Myers on the roof top of the house in order to escape from michael..anyways we all remember this when jamie falls and Rachel is still on the rood being slashed at with Michael's knife she briefly is left hanging her hand on the roof top so she doesn't fall but michael Myers follows her hands as she dangles loosely barely able to hang on much longer and michael finally slashes with his knife on to Rachel's hand cutting her hand so she falls s down to the ground..well I think if u watch the roof chase scene in scream 4 you'll notice the similarity how Sidney is being chased by Ghostface and she does what Rachel in H4 did she hangs down till Ghostface cuts her loose with his knife and Sidney falls down to the ground..it just reminded me of the rooftop scene in Halloween 4 and coincidence it is a 4 th movie in the franchise to have similar scene play out by victim and killers..I think they gave H4 a nodd in my opinion. OK MY final thing I don't get and I've rewatched scream 4 many times thru the years and saw it again on TV one day recently..and it's the part when Kirby is being quizzed on her horror knowledge , well it's specifically when Ghostface says name the groundbreaking horror remake that spawned and he stops completely as she begins to quick shout out all thee horror remakes. Well did u guys notice Ghostface can be heard unfinished question..he doesn't finish the whole question that he wants her to answer he pauses right away when Kirby shouts interrupting Ghostface on his quiz question about horror remakes. I tell u it makes me cringe cause it looks like a edit or cut scene where he doesn't finish his sentence. And it's so clearly in the final cut of the movie I cnt get over the mistake left in or don't kno how to make sense of it watch that scene again and you'll notice Ghostface bring cutt off from his question to kirby

It looks as if they made an effort to remove all references planted on the dead bodies, like how we had the Maureen pictures in Scream 3, but with all the kills in scream 4 having their references to earlier kills in the franchise removed. No being strung up hanging or tied to a chair, or head through the door frame, it seems like what they edited out of the movie and left in the deleted scenes was all those references and the supporting scenes to those references.

Is it just me or is Scream 4 a dark ass movie? Not like in tone but visually dark.

With the scene of watching Olivia being killed across the window could also reference Disturbia with watching someone get killed while sitting in their house

Could be wrong but if I’m not mistaken the step father from Amityville IS the father from the original murders. That’s how it’s blood related

Olivia's death sorta reminds me of Beth's death from Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers; where the leading character witnesses the killer murdering someone

i read a fun fact a few months ago that they included the garage door in 4 because of comments after the first movie that said a garage door wouldn't lift a body up like that lmfao

I'm not the pro but I noticed 2 other possible references...
The writing on the wall at 8:31 makes me think of Urban legends
As well as like another commenter mentioned the start of Rebecca's dead is alot like the garage death in Cursed

A year late, but hiding in the closet scene. I was certain you were gonna reference halloween curse of Michael Myers killing the heroine brother's girlfriend in the window lol 😆

You forgot 1 more reference Dewey's cell phone ringtone yes it played the Beverly Hills cop theme song but this was also a direct nod to Wes Craven's movie with Eddie Murphy called a Vampire in Brooklyn

Not a reference as it obviously came out after, but the alternate opening with the non-belief turning to realization reminds me of a very similar part in Hell Fest.

Rebecca's boy throws onto the car was also in Art of the Devil 2 (2005's thai horror film) when a girl jumped onto the ambulance in the hospital

I hate it when changes are made to the script “for the better” when they actually would’ve added to the film. I felt like they heavily did that to the Nightmare on Elm Strt Remake (took too many things out) and Scream 4 would’ve been that much better with all the cut content they stripped from it as well! So glad to see some new directors taking a stab at the franchise though. I hope they truly do it justice and don’t cut a bunch of small content real fans would appreciate, or any story lines that would alter the franchise, like Jill surviving or Hicks being a killer.

Not a horror movie reference, but when Jill is hurting herself at the end to make it look like she's fought for her survival she jumps backwards into a glass coffee table. This an EXACT copy of Fight Club where Edward Norton beats himself up in front of his boss :)

I spotted a reference to the title card of the film. The A in scream is replaced with a 4 just like the V in seven is replaced by a 7 making it Se7en and in this its called Scre4m

I really love Scream 4, it gave us some of my personal favourite moments in the franchise like Kirby's trivia phone call, the closet fakeout before Olivia's kill, and the entire scene from Jill's ghostface reveal to explaining her motive and staging her own attack.
The only thing I can't stand is the double fakeout or literally any of the opening scene. Its so fucking stupid like it only tricks us on the first watch and even in the Scream universe how would that trick anyone watching Stab 6 if they already saw Stab 5, wouldn't they know it was the same scene from the previous movie? Its such a small detail but it annoys me every time 😂

      Strange, that never bothered me.
A meta-movie series taking the concept into self-parody was perfect in my opinion. I quite enjoy the opening for that reason.
